Bible Ballistics: BBs #492  My “Peace” Of The Rock!!!

I want to share a word of encouragement with you today, that prayerfully will help each of us to remember where our “peace” and victory lies!

“In thee, O LORD,

do I put my trust;

let me never be ashamed:

deliver me in thy righteousness.

2 Bow down thine ear

to me;

deliver me speedily:

be thou my strong rock,

for an house of defence

to save me.

3 For thou art my rock

and my fortress;

therefore for thy name’s sake

lead me,

and guide me.”   Psalm 31:1-3

Jesus will be our “Rock Of Ages” today and always, when we trust in HIM! We can have total confidence, no matter the circumstance or situation for He is the sure foundation!

“Blessed is he

whose transgression is forgiven,

whose sin is covered.

2 Blessed is the man

unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity,

and in whose spirit there is no guile.”    Psalm 32:1-2

Here are some passages to encourage you today. Look up, walk forward, and press on toward the goal/prize–Jesus!!!

“From the end of the earth

will I cry unto thee,

when my heart is overwhelmed:

lead me to the rock

that is higher than I.

3 For thou hast been a shelter

for me,

and a strong tower

from the enemy.” Psalm 61:2-3

“He only is my rock

and my salvation:

he is my defence;

I shall not be moved.

7 In God is my salvation

and my glory:

the rock of my strength,

and my refuge,

is in God.

8 Trust in him

at all times;

ye people,

pour out your heart

before him:

God is a refuge

for us. Selah.” Psalm 62:6-8

And just for good measure—because some days are tough—remember HE has you ‘under His wings’!

“I will say of the LORD,

He is my refuge

and my fortress:

my God;

in him will I trust.

3 Surely he shall deliver thee

from the snare of the fowler,

and from the noisome pestilence.

4 He shall cover thee

with his feathers,

and under his wings

shalt thou trust:

his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”     Psalm 91:2-4

I pray that you will find the peace and security of “The Rock” of all creation–Jesus. He is the sure foundation and will carry you if you will but call on HIM today!!

“Trust in the LORD

with all thine heart;

and lean not

unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways

acknowledge him,

and he shall direct

thy paths.”   Proverbs 3:5-6

God’s got this—trust HIM! Jesus is reaching out to YOU!

“Come unto me,

all ye that labour

and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you,

and learn of me;

for I am meek

and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest

unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy,

and my burden is light.”   Matthew 11:28-30

Amen and Amen.

Jesus is ready—are you?

Who’s On First??? Bible Ballistics: Vol. 12 No. 05

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 12 No. 05 Who’s On First???

I’m sorry for the lengthy absence, but I’ve had some health issues and just haven’t been up to par, and certainly not up to writing anything that could make any sense. But I am feeling better and we’ll see what we can come up with today; hopefully something that will speak to each of us and draw us near to the presence of our Lord! I’ve been looking at Jesus’ letter to the church at Ephesus and His call to us to maintain our relationship with Him—a love relationship that keeps Him in the first place in our hearts.

“Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write;

These things saith he

that holdeth the seven stars

in his right hand,

who walketh in the midst

of the seven golden candlesticks;

2 I know thy works,

and thy labour,

and thy patience,

and how thou canst not bear them

which are evil:

and thou hast tried them which

say they are apostles,

and are not,

and hast found them liars:

3 And hast borne,

and hast patience,

and for my name’s sake hast laboured,

and hast not fainted.

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat

against thee,

because thou hast left thy first love.

5 Remember therefore

from whence thou art fallen,

and repent,

and do the first works;

or else I will come unto thee quickly,

and will remove thy candlestick

out of his place,

except thou repent.”  Revelation 2:1-5

This first of the seven letters that Jesus had John send to seven specific churches in Asia (The Asia of biblical times), and its message is sometimes elusive, but we are going to dig in and try to see what it has to say to us today.

First of all, let’s consider a bit of context to help us understand the message from our Lord Jesus; there are some uniform things in each of the seven letters: how Jesus describes Himself uniquely to each church (You’ll find these descriptions are also in chapter 1)—how He commends and/or reproves each church—how He knows exactly who ‘we’ are and where ‘we’ are (all the time and at any given moment in each of our lives)—how he has an answer for each situation, whether good or bad—how He also holds us accountable for our choices and responses to HIM. We must recognize His call to, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches”, reminding us that we are to hear, receive and respond to “what the Spirit saith unto the churches”! The same message that Paul gave to the church at Galatia:

“This I say then,

Walk in the Spirit,

and ye shall not fulfil

the lust of the flesh……..

25 If we live in the Spirit,

let us also walk in the Spirit.”   Galatians 5:16 & 25

The gift of the Holy Spirit IS the New Covenant into which we come when we are born again—born “of the Spirit”!

“But as many as received him,

to them gave he power

to become the sons of God,

even to them that believe

on his name:

13 Which were born,

not of blood,

nor of the will of the flesh,

nor of the will of man, but

of God.” John 1:12-13

“That which is born of the flesh

is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit

is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.” John 3:6-7

When we are born of The Spirit, we are to hear and heed His voice, the work and the direction of God’s Holy Spirit within us! It’s HIS Spirit that enables and empowers us to yield our lives to HIM!

But back to the message to the church at Ephesus; what does Jesus mean when He calls the church to “Remember ….repent…..and redo” the works they did at the first, to do them in view of their love relationship not just the “doing” of works, but “being” in love with Jesus and being yielded to His love and His Spirit’s work ‘in’ and ‘through’ us! When you go back and read Jesus’ commendation to this church, it wasn’t “not” working, but it also wasn’t ardently in love with her Savior. It’s HIS love ‘in us’ that makes us who we “are/be”—we must “be” in love with Him, before we can “do” that which will totally glorify HIM!

“And hope maketh not ashamed;

because the love of God

is shed abroad in our hearts

by the Holy Ghost

which is given unto us.

6 For when we were yet without strength,

in due time

Christ died for the ungodly.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man

will one die:

yet peradventure for a good man

some would even dare to die.

8 But God commendeth his love toward us,

in that, while we were yet sinners,

Christ died for us.

9 Much more then,

being now justified

by his blood,

we shall be saved from wrath

through him.

10 For if,

when we were enemies,

we were reconciled to God

by the death of his Son,

much more,

being reconciled,

we shall be saved

by his life.

11 And not only so,

but we also joy in God

through our Lord Jesus Christ,

by whom we have now received

the atonement.” Romans 5:5-11

We must remember that it’s God’s love that works in us—not the ‘love’ that is of the flesh—but it’s all about Jesus! And when we remember what He has done for us, is doing in and through our lives, as well as what HE is going to bring us to—HIS heavenly glory—how can we but lavish our love and devotion on HIM through all we do.

“For of him,

and through him,

and to him,

are all things:

to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” Romans 11:36

When I think of loving God first, my mind often goes to Job and his devotion to The Lord God Almighty he loved despite his circumstances and his so-called friends. When we love God and place our total trust in Him, we can walk in confidence resting in HIS love and power!!!

“Though he slay me,

yet will I trust in him:

but I will maintain mine own ways

before him.”     Job 13:15

When we love Him first and foremost, we can be confident that our “lampstand” will stay where God put it and not be removed due to our careless disregard of our love relationship with HIM. Oh to join with Job and declare our love and confidence in our soon coming KING! (And remember, Job’s confidence was before the cross!!! WOW!!!) I know that I know that I know!!! How about you?

“For I know

that my redeemer liveth,

and that he shall stand

at the latter day

upon the earth:

26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh

shall I see God:

27 Whom I shall see for myself,

and mine eyes shall behold, and not another;

though my reins be consumed within me.”  Job 19:25-27

Amen & Amen

Not I But Christ!!! Bible Ballistics: BBs #491

Bible Ballistics: BBs #491  Not I But Christ!!!

“And I, brethren,

when I came to you,

came not with excellency of speech

or of wisdom,

declaring unto you the testimony

of God.

2 For I determined not to know any thing

among you,

save Jesus Christ,

and him crucified.”   1 Corinthians 2:1-2

One song, One message, One Lord and One Savior and Redeemer! Jesus is all we need, and the truth of His work of salvation is the joy of my heart and the message that we are called to share.

We are so often distracted by the busyness of life, and forget that Jesus is all we need to get through the maze of living! And I can do that when I keep my heart and mind set on HIM! So here are a few tidbits of scripture to help you finish your Friday with HIM!

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about

with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight,

and the sin which doth so easily

beset us,

and let us run

with patience

the race

that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus

the author

and finisher of our faith;

who for the joy that was set before him

endured the cross,

despising the shame,

and is set down at the right hand

of the throne of God.

3 For consider him that endured

such contradiction of sinners

against himself,

lest ye be wearied

and faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12:1-3

And as we consider Jesus and the price that HE paid for us, we can live the “crucified” life in selfless abandon to HIM, knowing that He is working all things for our good and HIS glory.

“I am crucified with Christ:

nevertheless I live;

yet not I,

but Christ liveth in me:

and the life which I now live in the flesh

I live by the faith

of the Son of God,

who loved me,

and gave himself for me.”    Galatians 2:20

“And we know that

all things work together

for good

to them that love God,

to them who are the called

according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow,

he also did predestinate

to be conformed

to the image of his Son,

that he might be the firstborn

among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate,

them he also called:

and whom he called,

them he also justified:

and whom he justified,

them he also glorified.

31 What shall we then say to these things?

If God be for us,

who can be against us?” Romans 8:28-31

May you find comfort today in The One who gave HIS all for YOU! And no matter what is facing you today remember to keep your eyes on the Lord not the “lions” around you!

“If God be for us,

who can be against us”

May we truly join Paul in our single-minded dependence on Jesus?

“For I determined not to know any thing

among you,

save Jesus Christ,

and him crucified”

It’s all about HIM, and God has you in HIS hand, and HE never says “oops”!!! He’s got you and your situation!!! Prayers and blessings sent your way–today!

Amen and Amen!

What Price Sacrifice??? Bible Ballistics: BBs #490

05 Wednesday Sep 2018

Bible Ballistics: BBs #490  What Price Sacrifice???

“This is my commandment,

That ye love one another,

as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this,

that a man lay down his life

for his friends.” John 15:12-13

As believers in and followers of Jesus, we are called to exercise His love toward others, and Jesus describes the greatest love that He was about to express and display before the world on Calvary: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”! But what Jesus did for those who will believe in Him was even more amazing than that—He not only made the ultimate sacrifice for those that HE loves (which is the world), but those that He loves are enemies of God steeped in sin. Yet HE came lovingly, willingly to sacrifice HIS life for us that we could be delivered from death and hell by HIS selfless, substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for sinners with His own blood.

“For when we were yet without strength,

in due time

Christ died

for the ungodly.

7 For scarcely for a righteous man

will one die:

yet peradventure for a good man

some would even dare to die.

8 But God commendeth his love

toward us,

in that, while we were yet sinners,

Christ died for us.

9 Much more then, being now justified

by his blood,

we shall be saved from wrath

through him.

10 For if, when we were enemies,

we were reconciled to God

by the death of his Son,

much more, being reconciled,

we shall be saved

by his life.

11 And not only so,

but we also joy in God

through our Lord Jesus Christ,

by whom we have now received

the atonement.” Romans 5:6-11

We are the beneficiary of the ultimate sacrifice—not only that Jesus gave His life for me/you on the cross—but HE even more importantly, didn’t stay dead, HE AROSE victorious over death and hell too offer life to all who will believe. And because of His great love for us, we can go forward in His love regardless of the hate, meanness, confusion and malice going on around us. Knowing Jesus and having His indwelling Holy Spirit enables us to live victorious lives soaring above the storm with the Master. Isaiah said it best:

“But they that wait upon the LORD

shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings

as eagles;

they shall run,

and not be weary;

and they shall walk,

and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Even as the picture in my dining room says: “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time:” we can trust our lives, our hope, and our security to The One who died for us—and that is only JESUS my friends, not any movie star, sports star, politician or even any religious leader—only the blood of Jesus can impart abundant life! And when we know Him, as His children, we can declare with Job, that our confidence is in HIM not ourselves or any other human! After all only Jesus can change a ‘sinner’ into a ‘saint’ of God, and only Jesus can give us His Spirit to lead us, grow us, and guide us into more and more of His truth and grace, through His Word by His Spirit; all so that we can minister HIS love to a lost and dying world!

“Though he slay me,

yet will I trust in him:

but I will maintain mine own ways

before him.” Job 13:15   Amen and Amen!

Yet we must remember that God often calls us to difficult tasks, and when he does HE is sufficient to guide our steps and meet our needs!

“Thou therefore gird up thy loins,

and arise,

and speak unto them

all that I command thee:

be not dismayed at their faces,

lest I confound thee before them.

18 For, behold, I have made thee this day

a defenced city,

and an iron pillar,

and brasen walls

against the whole land,

against the kings of Judah,

against the princes thereof,

against the priests thereof,

and against the people of the land.

19 And they shall fight against thee;

but they shall not prevail against thee;

for I am with thee,

saith the LORD,

to deliver thee.”   Jeremiah 1:17-19

Jeremiah was called the “weeping prophet” because he was given a hard task, to a hard people, yet he went forth faithfully for some 40 years doing God’s work with little visible results! What has God asked you and me to do? Are we willing to make the sacrifice for The One who gave Himself for us? He IS the Only Way—The Lord Jesus Christ! Let’s seek His approval above all else, for:

“Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name

under heaven

given among men,

whereby we must be saved.”  Acts 4:12

I pray that this will help us all to keep our focus on Our Lord and not the confusion of the world, remembering The One who gave it all for our salvation, our life and our glory with HIM! HE is the only ONE who sacrificed for our salvation!

Amen and Amen. Blessings on your day!

Who’s Your Builder??? Bible Ballistics: Vol. 12 No. 04

03 Monday Sep 2018

Posted by Blanche in Labor, Life, Work

≈ 5 Comments

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 12 No. 04 Who’s Your Builder???

I’d like to share a few things with you today, as many in the US will be celebrating Labor Day; a time when we honor those who live productive lives and support our culture with ‘work’. Work is something we all make jokes about, but if you’ve ever been without ‘work’, you know that the joys of honest, fruitful ‘work’ can be a satisfaction to heart and soul as well as fruitful to the bank account. What we often forget is that God gave us labor—as a gift of His creation—the opportunity to be a part of His glorious creation—whether we are producing actual ‘produce’, skilled work, creativity or intellectual activity. God wants us to take joy in our ‘labor’ and see it as an opportunity to serve Him.

“And the LORD God formed man

of the dust of the ground,

and breathed into his nostrils

the breath of life;

and man became a living soul.

8 And the LORD God planted a garden

eastward in Eden;

and there he put the man whom he had formed.

9 And out of the ground

made the LORD God to grow

every tree that is pleasant to the sight,

and good for food…….

15 And the LORD God took the man,

and put him into the garden of Eden

to dress it

and to keep it.” Portions of Genesis 2:7-15

God provided everything in the creation to support humanity, yet He gave this man, Adam, a job—not because he lacked something, but because work is a good thing, just as God ‘worked’ in creating all these things, He calls us to work to care for ourselves and others—to be an example of a godly work-ethic!

“Neither did we eat any man’s bread

for nought;

but wrought

with labour

and travail

night and day,

that we might not be chargeable

to any of you:

9 Not because we have not power,

but to make ourselves an ensample

unto you

to follow us.

10 For even when we were with you,

this we commanded you,

that if any would not work,

neither should he eat.

11 For we hear that there are some

which walk among you disorderly,

working not at all,

but are busybodies.

12 Now them that are such

we command

and exhort

by our Lord Jesus Christ,

that with quietness they work,

and eat their own bread.

13 But ye, brethren,

be not weary

in well doing.” 2 Thessalonians 3:8-13

It seems that Paul had some experience with people who held an “entitlement” mentality—it’s not new! If you read through the Proverbs you’ll find that laziness, sloth and entitlement aren’t new, but God calls His own to set an example of diligent work and provision for our own needs and the needs of those around us who can’t help themselves; God designed us that way, and He expects us to be examples of productivity not laziness and neglect.

“But if any provide not

for his own,

and specially for those

of his own house,

he hath denied the faith,

and is worse than an infidel.” 1 Timothy 5:8

Those who claim the name of Jesus ought to be the best in the workforce, no matter their field. It doesn’t mean we all have to be great entrepreneurs or millionaires, but it does mean that we ought to be the best that we can be in the job that we have—every minute that I am at work—not thieves but diligent workers who don’t ‘give to get’ but those who ‘get to give’!

“Let him that stole

steal no more:

but rather let him labour,

working with his hands

the thing which is good,

that he may have

to give

to him that needeth.” Ephesians 4:28

We are to work for God’s glory, taking care of our own, and helping others as we have resources and opportunity; living a selfless life of giving—not a selfish life concentrated on getting more money for ourselves. We must keep our eyes on the goal and the prize—JESUS’ glory, our eternal reward!

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,

where moth

and rust

doth corrupt,

and where thieves

break through

and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,

where neither moth

nor rust

doth corrupt,

and where thieves

do not break through

nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is,

there will your heart be also.”   Matthew 6:19-21

As we think of treasure, let’s tie all this together with our title subject of “building”, what are we building and for whom. Who is your builder? Are we honoring God with our labor? Are we laboring for the right reward? These are questions that we all must ask ourselves, for no one else knows your/my heart but God, and He will reveal truth to us if we will but seek HIS face and ask for HIS wisdom!

“Except the LORD build the house,

they labour in vain that build it:

except the LORD keep the city,

the watchman waketh but in vain.

2 It is vain for you

to rise up early,

to sit up late,

to eat the bread of sorrows:

for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD:

and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man;

so are children of the youth.

5 Happy is the man

that hath his quiver full of them:

they shall not be ashamed,

but they shall speak with the enemies

in the gate.”   Psalm 127:1-5

God builds on the Rock, Jesus–the expressed love of God in Jesus’ sacrifice for us– not on the values that the world clings to; sins of greed, lies and self. God’s love also values life and children—they are the only heritage that God gives here on earth. It is a gift of passing on life, love and the truth of Jesus to affect and change this lost and dying world.

May we each take time today and examine our lives, our hearts, and our minds to see if we are reflecting the glory of our Lord or settling for the imitation of life that the world offers. May we yield to God’s work in our lives that we may reflect His glory to the world, no matter what our “work” may be—from the mother rocking her baby to the CEO carrying the load of a large entity—from the trash man to the Pastor—from the farmer to the waitress! May we each strive to be God’s handiwork before the world today! Yesterday is already gone—tomorrow may not arrive—but we have today, so let’s go forward! And don’t let the past hold you down, simply be the best “laborer” for God that you/I can be! Today!

“Brethren, I count not myself

to have apprehended:

but this one thing I do,

forgetting those things which are behind,

and reaching forth unto those things

which are before,

14 I press toward the mark

for the prize of the high calling of God

in Christ Jesus.

15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect,

be thus minded:

and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded,

God shall reveal even this unto you.”  Philippians 3:13-15

Amen and Amen!
