Bible Ballistics: BBs #746  An Enduring Faithful GOD!!!

I would simply like to share a word of encouragement from God’s Word this morning.  While life gets hectic, and we often fret and worry, our GOD is ever the same and HIS faithfulness endures and continues forever!  HIS Word never fails and HE is the same yesterday, today and forever!

“For ever, O LORD,

thy word is settled in heaven.

90 Thy faithfulness

is unto all generations:

thou hast established the earth,

and it abideth.

91 They continue this day

according to thine ordinances:

for all are thy servants.

92 Unless thy law had been my delights,

I should then have perished

in mine affliction.

93 I will never forget thy precepts:

for with them thou hast quickened me.

94 I am thine,

save me;

for I have sought thy precepts.

95 The wicked have waited for me

to destroy me:

but I will consider

thy testimonies.

96 I have seen an end

of all perfection:

but thy commandment

is exceeding broad.”   Psalm 119:89-96

Paul gives us a great insight into the surety of God and those who are His own.  I pray that you know Jesus and if not that you will come to HIM in repentance and faith.

“Nevertheless the foundation of God

standeth sure,

having this seal,

The Lord knoweth them that are his.

And, Let every one

that nameth the name of Christ

depart from iniquity.”   2 Timothy 2:19

Are you HIS?  If so, have you departed “from iniquity” or can the world find no reflection of The Lord Jesus in you?  May we seek God’s face through HIS Word and prayer, and yield to HIS work in us; for HE is ever at work to conform us into the “image of his Son”!  Jesus died that we might have “life”, abundant “life”!  Are you living abundantly or settling for the world’s imitation that will never produce peace!

“And we know that all things

work together

for good

to them that love God,

to them who are the called

according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow,

he also did predestinate

to be conformed

to the image of his Son,

that he might be the firstborn

among many brethren.”  Romans 8:28-29

I pray that God will speak to our hearts and that we will hear and heed HIS voice!

“Order my steps in thy word:

and let not any iniquity

have dominion over me.”  Psalm 119:133

Amen!

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 14  Humbly Trusting Our God???

I want to let you know that posts may be a bit sporadic for a while, as we are making some life changes at our house and for the next couple of weeks, we’ll have things going on that may keep me from writing on my regular schedule.  I am so thankful for each of you, and thank you for your prayers, encouraging words, notes, reactions, and replies to our work.  My prayer is that God will always be lifted up, HIS Word exalted, and hearts and lives encouraged and drawn nearer to the cross of Jesus Christ our Lord.  So, for today a brief word that is an encouragement to me, and I pray to you!

“Let nothing be done

through strife

or vainglory;

but in lowliness of mind

let each esteem other

better than themselves.

4 Look not every man

on his own things,

but every man

also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you,

which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God,

thought it not robbery

to be equal with God:

7 But made himself

of no reputation,

and took upon him

the form of a servant,

and was made

in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man,

he humbled himself,

and became obedient

unto death,

even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also

hath highly exalted him,

and given him a name

which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus

every knee should bow,

of things in heaven,

and things in earth,

and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess

that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory

of God the Father.”  Philippians 2:3-11

May we each choose to seek Jesus’ face, and humble ourselves before God and be like Jesus; it’s what God is working into our lives in every circumstance!  We can trust to HIS care.

“And we know

that all things work together

for good

to them that love God,

to them who are the called

according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow,

he also did predestinate

to be conformed

to the image of his Son,

that he might be

the firstborn

among many brethren.”  Romans 8:28-29

And just a little side note in closing, for many years I had heard Romans 8:28 “all things”, and it seemed rather flippant and often made God seem erratic or unfeeling to just flip out this or that to whomever!  BUT—then I found out there was a verse 29 in this amazing chapter of Romans!  Oh, praise God, HE has a purpose in all our trials, suffering, stumblings, even in our successes and failures!  OH, praise God—HE has promised that HE is at work in every situation that we might be “conformed to the image of his Son”!  I can’t tell you what joy and confidence that brought to my heart, and I hope it will do the same for you today!

May we seek HIM continually, humbling ourselves before God regardless of our circumstances, life changes, heartaches, or trials, and especially in the successes of life that can often build our “ego” rather than build our humble faith!

Be blessed and rejoice in all that God IS, not just what HE IS doing.  He is truly our “strong tower” and we can “run into it” any time.  Run to Jesus!  (See Proverbs 18:10)

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens,

Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched

with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted

like as we are,

yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

 and find grace to help

in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:14-16

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #745  Arthritis Theology For Today???

I know some of you are wondering what “Arthritis Theology” is; well, my friends it came up in one of our conversations this week, and most of the older folks will relate.  I asked my husband to rub some arthritis cream on my back (since I can’t reach it any more…ha ha), and I was giving instructions on how I wanted it done, and I simply said, “If you don’t rub it in, it won’t do any good!”  And I just had to share the similitude to walking with Jesus; for the more we “rub” HIS Word in….the more good it does in our hearts, our minds, and our daily service for our Lord!  I think it may have been what Paul had in mind as he counseled the Colossian believers, let’s consider it.

“Put on therefore,

as the elect of God,

holy and beloved,

bowels of mercies,

kindness,

humbleness of mind,

meekness,

longsuffering;

13 Forbearing one another,

and forgiving one another,

if any man have a quarrel against any:

even as Christ forgave you,

so also do ye.

14 And above all these things

put on charity,

which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of God

rule in your hearts,

to the which also ye are called

in one body;

and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ

dwell in you richly

in all wisdom;

teaching

and admonishing one another

in psalms

and hymns

and spiritual songs,

singing with grace in your hearts

to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do

in word

or deed,

do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,

giving thanks to God

and the Father by him.”  Colossians 3:12-17

If I may put it in a nutshell, what you put in will come out.  It’s also what Jesus reminds us of on multiple occasions.  What are you putting into your heart?  It’s so easy to be distracted by this busy techno-crazy world and allow harmful and unnecessary things into our heart and lives.  May we choose wisely!

“O generation of vipers,

how can ye,

being evil,

speak good things?

for out of the abundance of the heart

the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man

out of the good treasure of the heart

bringeth forth good things:

and an evil man

out of the evil treasure

bringeth forth evil things.”   Matthew 12:34-35

“But those things

which proceed out of the mouth

come forth from the heart;

and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed

evil thoughts,

murders,

adulteries,

fornications,

thefts,

false witness,

blasphemies:

20 These are the things which defile a man:

but to eat with unwashen hands

defileth not a man.”  Matthew 15:18-20

May we take HIS words to heart and make sure we keep our hearts right with our Lord and strive to please HIM with a clean heart and a right walk before God and man.  Someone is watching your walk—where are you leading them?

“Keep thy heart

with all diligence;

for out of it

are the issues of life.”  Proverbs 4:23

And one of my favorite godly challenges from our brother Paul.

“But thanks be to God,

which giveth us the victory

through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren,

be ye stedfast,

unmoveable,

always abounding

in the work of the Lord,

forasmuch as ye know

that your labour is not in vain

in the Lord.”  1 Corinthians 15:57-58

So, may we fill our heart with Jesus, and not fill our hearts with corrupt things, and find ourselves going the wrong way!  If we think it long enough, we will follow through!  Choose wisely, for there is a test.  Let’s rub in the Word of God and walk in victory before our Lord and others!

“For whatsoever is born of God

overcometh the world:

and this is the victory that overcometh the world,

even our faith.

5 Who is he that overcometh the world,

but he that believeth

that Jesus is the Son of God?”   1 John 5:4-5

Amen and Amen!!!

God will lead if we will follow, God's perfect will, God's Sovereign Provision, Jesus Is In Control, Looking UP, Mark 9:2, Romans 12:1-2, Stepping Forward

Bible Ballistics: BBs #744  Stepping Forward???

“And after six days Jesus taketh with him

Peter, and James,

and John,

and leadeth them

up into an high mountain

apart by themselves:

and he was transfigured

before them.”  Mark 9:2

I don’t know about you, but it’s been very busy at our house, with a lot of changes on the horizon, yet God has it all in HIS hand, and totally in HIS control.  Oh, how often we forget the certainty of God’s faithful, sovereign control as well as HIS love for us and HIS commitment to conform us into the image of our Lord Jesus.

I invite you to ponder this short verse and consider a few simple thoughts:

After a time—Jesus isn’t a slot machine, where we put in our quarter, pull the handle and blessings, directions and prosperity fall out.  God is often answering our prayers with the command to “wait”!

Leading is the general practice of The Lord; Jesus didn’t push, or prod, and he never “drove” His own (although He did “drive” the money changers out of the Temple), and we need to heed that temptation in our current Christian culture.  Driving people to a heated frenzy is not God’s way!

UP!  Jesus led them up to a high mountain, He calls us to go upward in our pursuit to follow HIM!

Apart!  Jesus led them away from the crowds, away from the demands of daily ministry to a place of solitude with HIMSELF, without the distractions of daily living, crowds, questions, healings, or any other thing that we may put ahead of being alone with Jesus.

Transfigured!  Jesus revealed HIS glory to these three close friends and disciples.  When we choose to follow Jesus into that place of solitude, HE will often reveal new things to us, whether it’s a new call, comfort, instructions for ministry, or some simple and refreshing time in HIS presence.

It’s our choice!  Will we commit and yield ourselves to HIS leading or settle for “I’m ok on my own!”  Oh, to learn to hear His “still small voice” and run into His arms!  Let’s choose JESUS!

“I beseech you therefore, brethren,

by the mercies of God,

that ye present your bodies

a living sacrifice,

holy,

acceptable unto God,

which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed

to this world:

but be ye transformed

by the renewing of your mind,

that ye may prove

what is that good,

and acceptable,

and perfect,

will of God.”  Romans 12:1-2

May we draw near to Jesus and receive of HIM all that HE has for us, then use it for His glory, and the good of others!  Blessings on you and yours my friends!  Our God is our “ever present help”!

Amen and Amen!!!

Be A Safe Place??? Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 13

A Safe Place, Colossians 4:5-6, Forgive us As we Forgive, Guard Your Heart, Kindness, Matthew 15:17-20, Matthew 6:9-13, Proverbs 18:10, Psalm 141:3, Psalm 4:23-24, Speak with God's Word In view

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 13   Be A Safe Place???

After some intense conversations this week, I have a few things I’d like to share today; in the crazy culture we live in, it’s often difficult to have a safe place to find solace, refuge, and counsel.  I think God has called us to express His love by being that safe place as we have opportunity.

“Let no corrupt communication

proceed out of your mouth,

but that which is good

to the use of edifying,

that it may minister grace

unto the hearers.

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God,

whereby ye are sealed

unto the day of redemption.

31 Let all

bitterness,

and wrath,

and anger,

and clamour,

and evil speaking,

be put away from you,

with all malice:

32 And be ye kind

one to another,

tenderhearted,

forgiving one another,

even as God

for Christ’s sake

hath forgiven you.”   Ephesians 4:29-32

If I can take a bit of liberty, I think we can say that while, “corrupt communication” may not proceed out every “mouth”, it does seem to me that much “corrupt communication” appears on social media, even by those who claim the name of Jesus!  How can we sing “Oh, how I love Jesus” on one day, and write and speak vile, mean, and harmful things to, about and in regard to people we may or may not know the next?  The lack of kindness grieves my heart, and we, as God’s children and followers of Jesus, ought to be shining the light of Jesus, and not the hatred of the enemy.   We are to be building each other up not tearing each other down; or expecting one thing of others and lesser things of ourselves!  We must remember that we are all “forgiven”!

Remember what Jesus said as HE taught us to pray.

“After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done

in earth,

as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day

our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts,

as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power,

and the glory,

for ever. Amen.”  Matthew 6:9-13

We are to be a place where others can find relief, safety and help to find the God who has the answers.

“The name of the LORD

is a strong tower:

the righteous runneth into it,

and is safe.”  Proverbs 18:10

Just as the “righteous” run into God’s “strong tower”, we are to be a safe place for others to run to when they need to find hope and peace as well as safety.  Now we need to understand that being a “safe” place doesn’t mean that we compromise God’s truth—HIS Word—but it does mean that we share truth with grace and compassion.

“Walk in wisdom

toward them that are without,

redeeming the time.

6 Let your speech be

alway with grace,

seasoned with salt,

that ye may know

how ye ought to answer

every man.”  Colossians 4:5-6

And I would simply ask you to think and pray about being God’s instrument of peace, grace, and truth to a lost and dying world; to extend kindness and grace as you speak God’s truth to those HE sends your way.

So, in closing I would simply remind each of us to guard our heart and our tongue; that we may be instruments of God’s service, for His glory and the good of those we encounter.

“Set a watch, O LORD,

before my mouth;

keep the door

of my lips.”  Psalm 141:3

“Keep thy heart

with all diligence;

for out of it

are the issues of life.

24 Put away from thee

a froward mouth,

and perverse lips

put far from thee.”  Psalm 4:23-24

Jesus summed it all up when He told us that the mouth doesn’t defile, but rather a defiled heart which is revealed by the words which come out of our mouth (whether they be oral, written, or acted out!)!  What is coming out of your heart?  Do you need to clean up your heart so that your mouth will reveal Jesus and not the world?

“Do not ye yet understand,

that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth

goeth into the belly,

and is cast out into the draught?

18 But those things

which proceed out of the mouth

come forth from the heart;

and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart

proceed evil thoughts,

murders,

adulteries,

fornications,

thefts,

false witness,

blasphemies:

20 These are the things

which defile a man:

but to eat with unwashen hands

defileth not a man.”  Matthew 15:17-20

The choice is yours but choose wisely.  There is a test.  I pray that we will each yield our heart to our LORD and let Jesus be seen in you/me; may we be a blessing and not a defilement!

Amen and Amen!!!
