Bible Ballistics: BBs #649 Jesus IS My Source Of Strength!!!

As many are struggling around us with the current crises, I simply want to take the time today to share with you some scriptures of encouragement.  We all need to remember WHO is the source of life, hope, and salvation—Jesus!

“I will love thee, O LORD,

my strength.

2 The LORD is my rock,

and my fortress,

and my deliverer;

my God,

my strength,

in whom I will trust;

my buckler,

and the horn of my salvation,

and my high tower.”  Psalm 18:1-2

He (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is our “high tower”, and so much more.

“The name of the LORD

is a strong tower:

the righteous runneth into it,

and is safe.”  Proverbs 18:10

Oh, how often I run into that “strong tower” when no one sees, when no one knows, when no one else understands—for HE reminds me that I am safe in HIS arms, under His wings there is comfort, help and restoration!

“Be merciful unto me, O God,

be merciful unto me:

for my soul trusteth in thee:

yea, in the shadow of thy wings

will I make my refuge,

 until these calamities be overpast.

2 I will cry unto God most high;

unto God

that performeth all things for me.”   Psalm 57:1-2

How often I need to be reminded that my strength comes when I kneel—rather than when I try to stand in my own strength, wisdom or power!  He is my all in all—always!

“Where there is neither

Greek nor Jew,

circumcision nor uncircumcision,

Barbarian, Scythian,

bond nor free:

but Christ is all,

and in all.” Colossians 3:11

We can know that Christ Jesus is in us, because He has promised His Holy Spirit to all who come to Him in repentance and faith, in fact The Holy Spirit in us IS the evidence that we are HIS!  And Jesus gave us His promise that His Spirit will be with us.

“These things have I spoken unto you,

being yet present with you.

26 But the Comforter,

which is the Holy Ghost,

whom the Father will send

in my name,

he shall teach you

all things,

and bring all things

to your remembrance,

whatsoever I have said

unto you.

27 Peace I leave with you,

my peace I give unto you:

not as the world giveth,

give I unto you.

Let not your heart be troubled,

neither let it be afraid.”   John 14:25-27

And may the words of Paul comfort and encourage us to keep our eyes “fixed on Jesus”, and not only receive His comfort and strength but share HIM with those around us!

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,

to the which also ye are called

in one body;

and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ

dwell in you richly

in all wisdom;

teaching and admonishing

one another

in psalms

and hymns

and spiritual songs,

singing with grace in your hearts

to the Lord.

17 And whatsoever ye do

in word or deed,

do all

in the name of the Lord Jesus,

giving thanks

to God and the Father

by him.”   Colossians 3:15-17

“Now the God of hope fill you

with all joy and peace in believing,

that ye may abound in hope,

through the power of the Holy Ghost.”  Romans 15:13

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 15 No. 09 Who Are You Fighting With???

As we all wrestle with the circumstances surrounding us, we often find ourselves wrestling, even fighting, with others.  No, not usually fisticuffs, but sword-fighting with our words, our emotions, and our fleshly wits.  Let’s take just a few minutes today to remind ourselves of the resources we have, IN Jesus, to overcome our own wrestlings—no matter our “perceived” adversaries!

“Finally, my brethren,

be strong

in the Lord,

and in the power

of his might.”   Ephesians 6:10

Even as Jesus told us so clearly in John 15, our strength, power, wisdom, and ability to follow HIM comes from HIM!  It’s what Paul was reminding the Ephesian Christians of; our strength is IN “the Lord” and IN “the power of his might”!  Just as we talked earlier about the battle being The Lord’s—our strength is from HIM—always!

“I am the vine,

ye are the branches:

He that abideth in me,

and I in him,

the same bringeth forth much fruit:

for without me

ye can do nothing.”   John 15:5

“O the depth of the riches

both of the wisdom

and knowledge

of God!

how unsearchable

are his judgments,

and his ways

past finding out!

34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord?

or who hath been his counsellor?

35 Or who hath first given to him,

and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

36 For of him,

and through him,

and to him,

are all things:

to whom be glory

for ever. Amen.”   Romans 11:33-36

Paul also continued to tell the Ephesian believers:

“Put on the whole armour of God,

that ye may be able to stand

against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not

against flesh and blood,

but

against principalities,

against powers,

against the rulers of the darkness

of this world,

against spiritual wickedness

in high places.”  Ephesians 6:11-12

And because we are in a battle with unseen forces, Paul tells us that this battle requires heavenly weapons, just as he told the believers at Corinth to be aware and prepared, so must we.

“For though we walk in the flesh,

we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare

are not carnal,

but mighty through God

to the pulling down

of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations,

and every high thing

that exalteth itself

against the knowledge of God,

and bringing into captivity

every thought

to the obedience

of Christ;”  2 Corinthians 10:3-5

So, as you take on that armor of God, just a quick guide to what that armor represents in our life every day!

Truth:

“Jesus saith unto him,

I am the way,

the truth,

and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.”  John 14:6

Righteousness:

“For he hath made him to be sin

for us,

who knew no sin;

that we might be made the righteousness

of God

in him.”  2 Corinthians 15:21

Peace:

“Therefore being justified by faith,

we have peace with God

through our Lord Jesus Christ:”  Romans 5:1

“And the peace of God,

which passeth all understanding,

shall keep your hearts

and minds

through Christ Jesus.”   Philippians 4:7

Faith:

“And be found in him,

not having mine own righteousness,

which is of the law,

but that which is through the faith

of Christ,

the righteousness

which is of God

by faith:”  Philippians 3:9

Salvation:

“Neither is there salvation

in any other:

for there is none other name

under heaven.”   Acts 4:12

The Word of God:

The Living Word:

“In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God,

and the Word was God.”    John 1:1

The written Word:

“For the word of God is

quick,

and powerful,

and sharper than any

twoedged sword,

piercing even to the

dividing asunder

of soul

and spirit,

and of the joints

and marrow,

and is a discerner

of the thoughts

and intents

of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature

that is not manifest in his sight:

but all things are naked

and opened

unto the eyes of him

with whom we have to do.

14 Seeing then that we have

a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens,

Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.”   Hebrews 4:12-14

Prayer:

“For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched

with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points

tempted like as we are,

yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help

in time of need.”   Hebrews 4:15-16

(Remember prayer is not “dictation” to God, but rather the “pursuit” of HIM, HIS will, HIS way, and HIS purposes for me!)

So, dear brothers and sisters—hold fast to the one who loves you, gave His life for our salvation, and ever lives to intercede for us.  May you draw near to Him and overcome those battles—no matter who the adversary is!

“Wherefore he is able also

to save them

to the uttermost

that come unto God

by him,

seeing he ever liveth

to make intercession for them.”  Hebrews 7:25

Amen and Amen!!!

Battle Fatigue, Be Strong IN Jesus!, Ephesians 6:10-12, Fatigue, Hebrews 4:15-16, John 14:26-27, Look Up Not Around, Psalm 37:3-8, Rest In Jesus!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #648   Are You Battle Fatigued???

We talked last time about our Lord God being the One who fights our battles when we will rest in Him, take our hands off, and watch God work!  Yet, sometimes God sends us to take a sling and a rock and face our giants, but like David, we must, I repeat we must, remember that our confidence is in the God we serve, not in our own abilities, ideas, strength or wisdom.  We must learn to rely on the wisdom of God, the strength of our Lord, and trust to His direction, care and provision.

As Paul told the church at Ephesus, our armor is effective because of “The One” who empowers it!  Let’s peruse Paul’s encouragement to the believers who needed the armor of God, but even more importantly, they needed the God who empowers that armor!

“Finally, my brethren,

be strong

in the Lord,

and in the power

of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God,

that ye may be able to stand

against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not

against flesh and blood,

but against principalities,

against powers,

against the rulers of the darkness

of this world,

against spiritual wickedness

in high places.”   Ephesians 6:10-12

We often become weary because we forget that our enemy is most often unseen—but our God is ever present with us!  We see HIM with spiritual eyes, and hear HIS voice speaking to our hearts through the power of HIS precious Holy Spirit. So, I simply want to share a few scriptures that I pray will encourage you in your “battle fatigue” today.  May God’s Word be that “balm of Gilead” to sooth the troubled soul!

“But the Comforter,

which is the Holy Ghost,

whom the Father will send in my name,

he shall teach you all things,

and bring all things

to your remembrance,

whatsoever I have said unto you.

27 Peace I leave with you,

my peace I give unto you:

not as the world giveth,

give I unto you.

Let not your heart be troubled,

neither let it be afraid.”   John 14:26-27

Our peace and confidence come from our Lord, not our circumstances—rest in HIM.  And in closing one of my personal favorite passages; I pray that it will encourage and comfort you in your battles today!   This entire chapter is one of my “go-to” scriptures.

“Trust

in the LORD,

and do good;

so shalt thou dwell in the land,

and verily thou shalt be fed.

4 Delight

thyself also in the LORD;

and he shall give thee the desires

of thine heart.

5 Commit

thy way

unto the LORD;

trust also

in him;

and he shall bring it to pass.

6 And he shall bring forth

thy righteousness

as the light,

and thy judgment

as the noonday.

7 Rest

in the LORD,

and wait patiently for him:

fret not

thyself because of him

who prospereth in his way,

because of the man

who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8 Cease

from anger,

and forsake

wrath:

fret not thyself in any wise

 to do evil.”   Psalm 37:3-8

I pray that this will encourage you today and lift your heart upward—remember you have a Savior who cares!  He is ever there for you!  Let HIM ease your ‘fatigue’!

“For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched with the feeling

of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted

like as we are,

yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help

in time of need.”   Hebrews 4:15-16

Amen and Amen!!!

The Battle Belongs To God??? Bible Ballistics: Vol. 15 No. 08

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 15 No. 08  The Battle Belongs To God???

The battle really does belong to the Lord—but we often try to get in the way and think we can run things our own way!  Remember when Saul offered David his own armor to face Goliath.  I love David’s response!  He knew he had to rely upon the One who had been with him in his previous battles!

“And David said unto Saul,

Thy servant kept his father’s sheep,

and there came a lion,

and a bear,

and took a lamb out of the flock:

35 And I went out after him,

and smote him,

and delivered it out of his mouth:

and when he arose against me,

I caught him by his beard,

and smote him,

and slew him.

36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear:

and this uncircumcised Philistine

shall be as one of them,

seeing he hath defied

the armies of the living God.

37 David said moreover,

The LORD that delivered me

out of the paw of the lion,

and out of the paw of the bear,

he will deliver me

out of the hand of this Philistine.

And Saul said unto David,

Go,

and the LORD be with thee.”  1 Samuel 17:34-37

Saul didn’t really understand, and like many of us, came up with a solution of his own– in the flesh.

“And Saul armed David with his armour,

and he put an helmet of brass upon his head;

also he armed him with a coat of mail.

39 And David girded his sword upon his armour,

and he assayed to go;

for he had not proved it.

And David said unto Saul,

I cannot go with these;

for I have not proved them.

And David put them off him.”  1 Samuel 17:38-39

My question for us today is, “What have you proved?”  Have you proved God’s faithfulness in your life by walking with HIM?  Or have you been running things your own way, and when others offer solutions in the flesh we decide to try the flesh rather than relying on God.  We choose to approach things in the flesh rather than remembering what David knew—

“And all this assembly shall know

that the LORD saveth

not with sword

and spear:

for the battle is the LORD’S,

and he will give you into our hands.”  1 Samuel 17:47

So, my encouragement for us today is right from God’s Word, and I invite you to rehearse and ponder on this Psalm with me this week, and may you find courage, comfort and rest in The Lord God Almighty as you do!

“God is our refuge

and strength,

a very present help

in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear,

though the earth

be removed,

and though the mountains

be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof

roar and be troubled,

though the mountains

shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is a river,

the streams whereof

shall make glad the city of God,

the holy place of the tabernacles

of the most High.

5 God is in the midst of her;

she shall not be moved:

God shall help her,

and that right early.

6 The heathen raged,

the kingdoms were moved:

he uttered his voice,

the earth melted.

7 The LORD of hosts

is with us;

the God of Jacob

is our refuge. Selah.

8 Come, behold the works of the LORD,

what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease

unto the end of the earth;

he breaketh

the bow,

and cutteth

the spear in sunder;

he burneth the chariot

in the fire.

10 Be still,

and know

that I am God:

I will be exalted

among the heathen,

I will be exalted

in the earth.

11 The LORD of hosts

is with us;

the God of Jacob

is our refuge. Selah.”   Psalm 46:1-11

No matter the trial, difficulty, confusion or stress that surrounds you, remember that God hasn’t been caught by surprise—and you can have victory through Jesus—if you just keep your eyes on HIM.  Look up, walk right before God and press on dear ones!  We win.

“But thanks be to God,

which giveth us the victory

through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren,

be ye stedfast,

unmoveable,

always abounding

in the work of the Lord,

forasmuch as ye know

that your labour

is not in vain

in the Lord.”   1 Corinthians 15:57-58

May God’s Spirit draw near to you as you draw near and depend on HIM!

“Draw nigh to God,

and he will draw nigh to you.”   James 4:8a

Amen and Amen.

Are We There Yet??? Bible Ballistics: BBs #647

Bible Ballistics: BBs #647   Are We There Yet???

We’ve all heard that cry, “Are we there yet?”; most of us have said it at one time or another, but my concern today is that many are “there” when they ought to be “where” God has called them to be.  Many today are running from God, have stomped their foot and refused to move or go where God has called them, and others still are clueless of what God expects; for either no one has taught them, or they have refused to hear God’s Word through study and prayer!  So, I hope that scripture will remind us that what we “sow” we “reap”, and much of our ‘reaping’ will depend on where (both physically, mentally and spiritually) we are-–where we choose to “abide”!

“And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,

Come out of her,

my people,

that ye be not partakers

of her sins,

and that ye receive not

of her plagues.”  Revelation 18:4

As we have had the opportunity lately to have time to consider “our ways”, our place, our priorities, our ‘loves’, I believe that God is calling us to return to holiness and devotion to Him.  I think He is calling to His own people to see if we’re “there” yet?

“Examine yourselves,

whether ye be in the faith;

prove your own selves.

Know ye not your own selves,

how that Jesus Christ is in you,

except ye be reprobates?”   2 Corinthians 13:5

Jesus said that what is in your heart will come out!  Or in techno-lingo, what you put in will come out!

“Now ye are clean

through the word

which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me,

and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit

of itself,

except it abide in the vine;

no more can ye,

except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine,

ye are the branches:

He that abideth in me,

and I in him,

the same bringeth forth

much fruit:

for without me

ye can do nothing.”  John 15:3-5

The question is, ‘Are we abiding in Jesus?’  Or are we so full of the world, that we don’t hear the voice of God is speaking right now:

“Come out of her,

my people”!

Will we examine ourselves, or will we wake up one day and find that we are not where we thought we were!  The choice is yours but remember, there is a test!

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD,

choose you this day

whom ye will serve;

whether the gods which your fathers served

that were on the other side of the flood,

or the gods of the Amorites,

in whose land ye dwell:

but as for me and my house,

we will serve the LORD.”  Joshua 24:15

And remember the choices of today, will show up in triplicate tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow.  Choose wisely and reap godliness rather than the world’s deceit!

“Be not deceived;

God is not mocked:

for whatsoever a man soweth,

that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth

to his flesh

shall of the flesh

reap corruption;

but he that soweth

to the Spirit

shall of the Spirit

reap life everlasting.”   Galatians 6:7-8

The choice is yours—don’t let Satan deceive you—he is a liar and a thief.  Don’t let him steal the hope and joy that is IN JESUS!!!

“Ye are of your father the devil,

and the lusts of your father

ye will do.

 He was a murderer

from the beginning,

and abode not in the truth,

because there is no truth

in him.

When he speaketh a lie,

he speaketh of his own:

for he is a liar,

and the father of it.”  John 8:44

In contrast our Lord Jesus IS LIFE!  Choose LIFE!

“I am the door:

by me if any man enter in,

he shall be saved,

and shall go in and out,

and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not,

but for to steal,

and to kill,

and to destroy:

I am come that they might have life,

and that they might have it more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd:

the good shepherd giveth his life

for the sheep.”   John 10:9-11

He died that you can have life.  Choose HIM today.  His arms are outstretched to you today!  You can have victory “IN JESUS” today!

Amen and Amen!
