Do We See What God Sees???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #365

“Blessed be the LORD,

that hath given rest unto his people Israel,

according to all that he promised:

there hath not failed one word

of all his good promise,

which he promised

by the hand of Moses his servant.

57 The LORD our God be with us,

as he was with our fathers:

let him not leave us,

nor forsake us:

58 That he may incline our hearts unto him,

to walk in all his ways,

and to keep his commandments,

and his statutes,

and his judgments,

which he commanded our fathers.

59 And let these my words,

wherewith I have made supplication

before the LORD,

be nigh unto the LORD our God

day and night,

that he maintain the cause of his servant,

and the cause of his people Israel

at all times,

as the matter shall require:

60 That all the people of the earth may know

that the LORD is God,

and that there is none else.

61 Let your heart therefore be perfect

with the LORD our God,

to walk in his statutes,

and to keep his commandments,

as at this day.”  1 Kings 8:56-61

As Solomon and the people of Israel celebrated the completion and dedication of the temple that Solomon had been called to build in his father’s place (See 1 Chronicles 28:3); all had gathered to offer sacrifices and offerings as they rejoiced at the presence of God in their midst.  Solomon praised God and prayed for His continued blessings on the people—sadly many failed to continue in God’s ways, including Solomon (See 1 Kings 11:3), because they chose to go their own way and disregard the law and commands of the God they were praising ‘today’!  How about us?  What are we doing today—both inside and outside of the ‘house of The Lord’!

What does our life say to the world? Why did Solomon proclaim all of these things?  Why was he challenging his people to be found faithful to God?  I think verse 60 says it all.

“That all the people of the earth may know

that the LORD is God,

and that there is none else”

What is my life telling the world about my God?  Is God seeing a true reflection of Himself and Jesus in me?  Jesus said something similar Himself as He prayed for us in John 17, just before going to the cross for us.

“That they all may be one;

as thou, Father,

art in me,

and I in thee,

that they also may be one in us:

that the world may believe

that thou hast sent me.

22 And the glory which thou gavest me

I have given them;

that they may be one,

even as we are one:

23 I in them,

and thou in me,

that they may be made perfect in one;

and that the world may know

that thou hast sent me,

and hast loved them,

as thou hast loved me.”   John 17:21-23

Again, what does the world see in me?  Do they see Jesus or a carbon copy of the world with a “Jesus t-shirt” on?  What does God see in me?  Is He saying of me the same thing He spoke to Jeremiah?

“Declare this in the house of Jacob,

and publish it in Judah, saying,

21 Hear now this,

O foolish people,

and without understanding;

which have eyes,

and see not;

which have ears,

and hear not:” Jeremiah 5:20-21

God is talking to this same people who praised His name at the dedication of the temple, yet now they have defiled it with idolatry, immorality and wicked hearts. What are we doing to/in the physical house of The Lord?  What are we doing in, with and to our bodies which, if we are genuinely born again, are the Temple of God (See 1 Corinthians 6:19)?  Have we ignored God’s call to holiness and said of our wicked life choices, “…but I’m under grace…”!  James had something to say to those who claim His name but live under their own power; James says it so much better than I can, I’ll let God’s Word speak for me; God sees the heart inside of every choice we make, be they for Him or against Him—even when we profusely claim “grace” over our sin! I’m not talking about genuine repentant hearts, but presumption on God’s grace, mercy and forgiveness. Ask Jesus to search your heart—I can’t, but HE can and will.

“From whence come wars and fightings among you?

come they not hence, even of your lusts

that war in your members?

2 Ye lust,

and have not:

ye kill,

and desire to have,

and cannot obtain:

ye fight and war,

yet ye have not,

because ye ask not.

3 Ye ask, and receive not,

because ye ask amiss,

that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses,

know ye not that the friendship of the world

is enmity with God?

whosoever therefore will be a friend

of the world

is the enemy of God.

5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain,

The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

6 But he giveth more grace.

Wherefore he saith,

God resisteth the proud,

but giveth grace unto the humble.

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God.

Resist the devil,

and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God,

and he will draw nigh to you.

Cleanse your hands, ye sinners;

and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

9 Be afflicted,

and mourn,

and weep:

let your laughter

be turned to mourning,

and your joy

to heaviness.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,

and he shall lift you up.”  James 4:1-10

Are you drawing near to God or the world?  Are you judging yourself with God’s judgment or the “everyone is doing it” line?  As I often say, “Saying so, doesn’t make it so!”, it isn’t simply claiming the name of Jesus, and living our own way, but being transformed by the blood of Jesus that “cleanseth us from all sin…”!  Have you been washed in the blood or are you trying to work your way to heaven—won’t work!  Here’s what Jesus has to say, it’s what God sees that counts—for He sees the heart not just the words!

“Wherefore by their fruits

ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;

but he that doeth the will of my Father

which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day,

Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?

and in thy name have cast out devils?

and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them,

I never knew you:

depart from me,

ye that work iniquity.”  Matthew 7:20-23.                (Be sure and read 24-27 as well)

The Apostle John gives us some wonderful insight, and if we will heed his call to walk in the light, we will not wander around in the dark.

“This then is the message

which we have heard of him,

and declare unto you,

that God is light,

and in him is no darkness at all.

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him,

and walk in darkness,

we lie,

and do not the truth:

7 But if we walk in the light,

as he is in the light,

we have fellowship one with another,

and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son

cleanseth us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin,

we deceive ourselves,

and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins,

he is faithful and just

to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us

from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned,

we make him a liar,

and his word is not in us.”  1 John 1:5-10

What is God seeing in you and me?  The reflection of His Son or the world?  Please read through this passage from Paul’s letter to the Romans slowly and prayerfully. God will speak, if we but listen.

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:

for we know not what we should pray for

as we ought:

but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us

with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts

knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,

because he maketh intercession for the saints

according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things

work together for good

to them that love God,

to them who are the called

according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow,

he also did predestinate

to be conformed to the image of his Son,

that he might be the firstborn

among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate,

them he also called:

and whom he called,

them he also justified:

and whom he justified,

them he also glorified.

31 What shall we then say to these things?

If God be for us,

who can be against us?”  Romans 8:26-31

May God guide your heart to Himself.

Amen and Amen!!!

Ready Or Not???   A Word from THE WORD!!! #360

“But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart,

My lord delayeth his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants,

and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day

when he looketh not for him,

and in an hour

that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder,

and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites:

there shall be weeping

and gnashing of teeth.”  Matthew 24:48-51

We are living in a day when truth is exchanged for a lie, often because it’s more convenient to accept the excuses of the world for bad behavior, bad language, worldly dress, deceiving and corrupting entertainment—the philosophy of “If it feels good, do it—who can it hurt?”  Well, my friends, it can hurt you, and can be even more harmful to those young eyes, ears and minds which are following your lead.  Jesus said more than once, in my own paraphrase, “Saying so, doesn’t make it so!”  Are you just using the name of Jesus, the church, the Bible for your own justification without ever bowing the knee before The Lord who died for sin—and yes, my friends, sin IS the issue.  What have you done with yours?  Jesus makes it clear in Matthew 7 also, that “Saying so, doesn’t make it so!”

“Enter ye in at the strait gate:

for wide is the gate,

and broad is the way,

that leadeth to destruction,

and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate,

and narrow is the way,

which leadeth unto life,

and few there be that find it.

15 Beware of false prophets,

which come to you in sheep’s clothing,

but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.

Do men gather grapes of thorns,

or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree

bringeth forth good fruit;

but a corrupt tree

bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree

cannot bring forth evil fruit,

neither can a corrupt tree

bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit

is hewn down,

and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;

but he that doeth the will of my Father

which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day,

Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?

and in thy name have cast out devils?

and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them,

I never knew you:

depart from me,

ye that work iniquity.”  Matthew 7:13-23

This is the same thing that Jesus was making clear to Nicodemus, the religious leader in John 3.  What we must understand is that it’s not about playing church, or being religious, or even doing good deeds; the people that Jesus describes in Matthew 7 did good deeds and they equated what they had done, to be enough to get them into heaven—into God’s kingdom.  Yet Jesus tells these same people, “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”!  There is only one way to God, and His name is Jesus Christ The Lord, and we must be “born again” into His kingdom by the Spirit of God—not our own works!  What are you doing to get to heaven?  Let’s look at some scripture and then see what Jesus has to say!   I pray that these passages will speak to your heart and bring you to the cross, or if you already have been born again, I pray that it will encourage you to draw near to Jesus and lead others to the truth of the Gospel rather than the easy-believe-ism that so many purport as truth. May we stand with Paul!

“So, as much as in me is,

I am ready to preach the gospel

to you that are at Rome also.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:

for it is the power of God unto salvation

to every one that believeth;

to the Jew first,

and also to the Greek.

17 For therein is the righteousness of God

revealed from faith to faith:

as it is written,

The just shall live by faith.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed

from heaven

against all ungodliness

and unrighteousness of men,

who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God

is manifest in them;

for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him

from the creation of the world

are clearly seen,

being understood

by the things that are made,

even his eternal power

and Godhead;

so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God,

they glorified him not as God,

neither were thankful;

but became vain in their imaginations,

and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise,

they became fools,

23 And changed the glory

of the uncorruptible God

into an image made like

to corruptible man,

and to birds, and fourfooted beasts,

and creeping things.”  Romans 1:15-23

What did Jesus say about being ready, let’s see.

“Jesus answered and said unto him,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born again,

he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  John 3:3

“Jesus answered,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born of water

and of the Spirit,

   he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh

is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit

is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”  John 3:5-7

“He came unto his own,

and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him,

to them gave he power

to become the sons of God,

even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born,

not of blood,

nor of the will of the flesh,

nor of the will of man,

but of God.”  John 1:11-13

And continuing Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus:

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,

even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world

to condemn the world;

but that the world through him

might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him

is not condemned:

but he that believeth not

is condemned already,

because he hath not believed

in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation,

that light is come into the world,

and men loved darkness

rather than light,

because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil

hateth the light,

neither cometh to the light,

lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth

cometh to the light,

that his deeds may be made manifest,

that they are wrought in God.”  John 3:14-21

The choice is yours, but choose wisely, there is a test—and Jesus IS coming soon.  I pray that you are ready in Jesus’ eyes—don’t depend on the eyes of men!!!

Amen and Amen!!!

Have You Been To The Cross??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #341

I want to share a few thoughts as we prepare to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ The Lord; I hope you take some time to consider the price that Jesus paid for the salvation of all who believe and trust in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for sin.

“Now is the judgment of this world:

now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 And I,

if I be lifted up from the earth,

will draw all men unto me.

33 This he said, signifying

what death he should die.”  John 12:31-33

Jesus was preparing his followers for His impending death, for they were all ready for Him to establish the kingdom—not die!   So often we misunderstand this verse and use it out of its context—Jesus wasn’t talking about “us” lifting Him up to draw people to Him, but that HE would be lifted up on that cross to die that all who would believe in His sacrificial, atoning death could have eternal life.  Yes, we are to lift up Jesus, but we are to preach, teach and share that Jesus was “lifted up from the earth” to pay for our sin—yours and mine.  And as Paul said so succinctly, sin is the issue and without bowing before Jesus, there is no salvation.

“For all have sinned,

and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace

through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth

to be a propitiation

through faith in his blood,

to declare his righteousness

for the remission of sins

that are past,

through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say,

at this time his righteousness:

that he might be just,

and the justifier

of him which believeth in Jesus.” Romans 3:23-26

“But now being made free from sin,

and become servants to God,

ye have your fruit unto holiness,

and the end everlasting life.

23 For the wages of sin is death;

but the gift of God is eternal life

through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Romans 6:22-23

Jesus was “lifted up from the earth”—He died for me—for you—for “the world”—even as Jesus proclaimed to Nicodemus in John chapter 3 (Read John 3:1-19).  But let’s look at a few reminders that it is the blood of Jesus that bought our salvation.  Have you met Him at the cross?

“How much more shall the blood of Christ,

who through the eternal Spirit offered himself

without spot to God,

purge your conscience

from dead works

to serve the living God?”  Hebrews 9:24

Peter’s reminder is one we desperately need to heed today.  It’s not the bunnies, or the eggs, or the candy or even Sunday dinner—it’s all about the blood of Jesus that “cleanseth us from all sin”!  May you hear the call of The Holy Spirit today and come to Jesus for salvation; if you are already His, may The Spirit draw you near to the cross to remember the price of our salvation.

“Forasmuch as ye know

that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,

as silver and gold,

 from your vain conversation

received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ,

as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained

before the foundation of the world,

but was manifest in these last times

for you,

21 Who by him do believe in God,

that raised him up from the dead,

and gave him glory;

that your faith and hope might be in God.”  1 Peter 1:18-21

May your celebrations include the One who died for you and me—but praise God Almighty HE didn’t stay dead, HE arose!  He’s coming again to take us unto Himself in glory.  Are you ready?  I pray that you are; and if you aren’t Jesus is standing and waiting for you.  If you already know Him, may your walk and talk confirm that you belong to Jesus!

“Behold,

I stand at the door,

and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”  Revelation 3:20

 Amen and Amen!!!

It’s All About Sacrifice???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #340

We talked last time about fighting like Jesus, and today I would like us to consider the price that Jesus paid for us to be able to be with Him and to reflect His glory as His child!  It means we must be “born again”!  It’s not about bunnies, or eggs, or baskets or even spring!  It is all about the sacrifice that Jesus paid for our sin—and yes, Sin is the issue—and that sacrifice was, is and ever shall supply the payment for sin to all who will come to Jesus in repentance of sin, and faith in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for sin.  Yet while the payment was made at Calvary, the victory over sin, death and hell came at the tomb!  That very tomb where Satan thought he had won, came to prove that Jesus not only paid for sin at the cross, but HE rose again to bring forgiveness of sin to all who believe; as well as life, hope, joy and a home in heaven for those who come to HIM, when we leave this life behind.

“He was in the world,

and the world was made by him,

and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own,

and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him,

to them gave he power

to become the sons of God,

even to them

that believe on his name:

13 Which were born,

not of blood,

nor of the will of the flesh,

nor of the will of man,

but of God.”  John 1:10-13

Jesus said of himself that HE came that we might have real life!

“I am the door:

by me if any man enter in,

he shall be saved,

and shall go in and out,

and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not,

but for to steal,

and to kill,

and to destroy:

I am come

that they might have life,

and that they might have it more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd:

the good shepherd giveth his life

for the sheep.”  John 10:9-11

 Jesus was the sacrifice for sin to all who believe and trust to His amazing sacrifice.  May we be encouraged and equipped to go forward with Jesus, calling the world to salvation in Jesus and nothing less!  We talked earlier about Paul’s great gospel in a nutshell in 1 Corinthians 15:3-7, and we can be confident in what Jesus has done knowing that He has finished the work of salvation!

“By the which will we are sanctified

through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ

once for all.

11 And every priest standeth daily

ministering

and offering oftentimes

the same sacrifices,

which can never take away sins:

12 But this man,

after he had offered one sacrifice

for sins

for ever,

sat down on the right hand of God;”  Hebrews 10:10-12

May we remember what the Apostles and disciples preached and shared after Pentecost—may it ever be our motto and our message without compromise!

“Be it known unto you all,

and to all the people of Israel,

that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,

whom ye crucified,

whom God raised from the dead,

even by him

doth this man stand here

before you whole.

11 This is the stone

which was set at nought of you builders,

which is become the head of the corner.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name under heaven

given among men,

whereby we must be saved.”  Acts 4:10-12

Will you be one who believes or one who puts Jesus to death again and again in vain.  It’s your choice but choose wisely there is a test.

“But ye denied the Holy One and the Just,

and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

15 And killed the Prince of life,

whom God hath raised from the dead;

whereof we are witnesses.”  Acts 3:14-15

The test is coming; are you ready?  Only Jesus can write your name in His book—not your works, not your wealth, not your social standing, not even your religion.  Ready or not, here HE comes:

“And whosoever was not found written

in the book of life

was cast into the lake of fire.”   Revelation 20:15

Amen and Amen!!!
