A Godly Forgetting???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #14

Just a reminder that the past is a tool not an idol, or a noose around our neck or the neck of others!  I don’t have much else to say about this, but I think Paul summed it all up for us!  And may we “remember” that our lives are to reflect Jesus—not popular ideologies, memes, or social media “trends”.

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:

but this one thing I do,

forgetting those things

which are behind,

and reaching forth unto those things

which are before,

14 I press toward the mark

for the prize

of the high calling of God

in Christ Jesus.

15 Let us therefore,

as many as be perfect,

be thus minded:

and if in any thing

ye be otherwise minded,

God shall reveal even this

unto you.”  Philippians 3:13-15

And contrary to the popular social media life principles, God often calls us to “put up” with things and people that are difficult.  While we are to surround ourselves with godly influences not the worldly things or people, we are not to discard those who are needy!  Yes, it’s often inconvenient, trying, and/or draining, but Jesus has promised to supply all our needs when we are doing HIS work!  Don’t be swayed by lies; no matter how pretty and appealing they may sound.  Let’s consider the “BE attitudes”, and ask God to show us how we measure up to HIS standard? (And remember the ‘peace makers’ reference is ultimately referring the Romans 5:1-11)!

“Blessed are the poor in spirit:

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn:

for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek:

for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst

    after righteousness:

for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful:

for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart:

for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers:

for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted

     for righteousness’ sake:

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye,

when men shall revile you,

and persecute you,

and shall say all manner of evil against you

falsely,

for my sake.

12 Rejoice,

and be exceeding glad:

for great is your reward in heaven:

for so persecuted they the prophets

which were before you.”  Matthew 5:3-12

 

May God stir our hearts and minds to see things through a biblical view rather than a current, popular, media-controlled view.  Blessings on you and yours this Father’s Day weekend.
