Happy New Year, Maybe???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #309

I would like to share a New Year’s post this morning as I share my heart and prayer for each of you.  It’s an amazing prayer of Paul’s and I pray it often for myself and others, and today you are among those included.  I hope you will be blessed in its truth, hope and challenge to walk right before God and man; for this year as each and every year is spent one day-at-a-time, and we are the one who makes the choices!  We can choose to follow Jesus or our own impulses—the good, the bad or the ugly!  May you find your steps drawing closer to Jesus, The Master, Lord and King; that can come when we dig into His Word, spend time with Him in prayer, and exercise the fruit of The Spirit.  May these passages be a helpful reminder to make it a blessed year for you and yours.

“Let your conversation

be without covetousness;

and be content

with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.”  Hebrews 13:5-6

And Paul’s prayer for the Colossian believers, and I want to post verse 14 first, for it is the basis for all else that he states.  We must be born again and know Jesus in forgiveness and salvation.

“…translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son

In whom we have redemption

through his blood,

even the forgiveness of sins:”   Colossians 1:13b-14

“For this cause we also,

since the day we heard it,

do not cease to pray for you,

and to desire

that ye might be filled

with the knowledge of his will

in all wisdom

and spiritual understanding;

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord

unto all pleasing,

being fruitful

in every good work,

and increasing

in the knowledge of God;

11 Strengthened

with all might,

according to his glorious power,

unto all patience

and longsuffering

with joyfulness;

12 Giving thanks

unto the Father,

which hath made us meet to be partakers

of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us

from the power of darkness,

and hath translated us

into the kingdom of his dear Son:”   Colossians 1:9-13

And in closing a part of Jesus’ prayer for us just before He went to the cross (I encourage you to read all of John 17 to see His heart for us.).

“I pray for them:

I pray not for the world,

but for them which thou hast given me;

for they are thine.

10 And all mine are thine,

and thine are mine;

and I am glorified in them.

11 And now I am no more in the world,

but these are in the world,

and I come to thee.

Holy Father,

keep through thine own name

those whom thou hast given me,

that they may be one,

as we are.”  John 17:9-11

May you have a blessed and successful year ahead, and no  matter the battles, remember that you are never alone!  You are loved, appreciated and prayed for by The One who bought you, and me!

“For the word of God is

quick,

and powerful,

and sharper than any twoedged sword,

piercing even to the dividing asunder

of soul and spirit,

and of the joints and marrow,

and is a discerner

of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature

that is not manifest in his sight:

but all things are naked

and opened

unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens,

Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched

with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted like as we are,

yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

 and find grace to help

in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:12-16

We pray a blessed and spiritually successful year to you all.  May the joy of The Lord truly be your strength.  There is no battle, trial or trouble that will come our way that our God has not filtered through His fingers of love, grace for our good and His glory…

Happy New Year and even more importantly a blessed one!  We’ll see you in 2025, Lord willing!

Amen and Amen!!!

Hail And Farewell Challenge??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #170

Hail And Farewell Challenge???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #170

My father was a Navy veteran and my “little” brother (he’ll appreciate that, even though he prefers to use the term “younger” brother, for he is younger than me, and always will be…ha ha ha) was in the Army, as well as my brother-in-law, a Vietnam veteran.  So you can see the military has always been a big part of our family; and in the military, when there is a change of command there is a “Hail and Farewell” ceremony of some sort, to bid ‘farewell’ to the departing leader, and ‘hail’ (welcome and salute) to the incoming leader.  As we approach the New Year, we here at our house bid you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Well, you may be saying, Christmas is past, and New Year’s not here; but that’s the point I want us to see and understand, that we who are followers of JESUS celebrate Him and His arrival every day of the year!  I do!  How about you?  What do I mean?  I mean we are called to say farewell to the past failures and even our successes—for they are of yesterday, and we are called to live in the “today”.  Jesus said it Himself when He told us how we ought to pray, and part of that prayer says clearly, “Give us this day….”; but I think sometimes we are so focused on “bread” that we seem to forget that God is talking about life as well as “bread”!  We are to live and focus on today, and let the past be just that— “Passed” (memories to cherish but just that—memories!)!

Paul gives an amazing picture of this in his letter to the Philippians, and I’ll simply let Paul speak this truth!  I pray that each of you have an amazing day today…and today…and today into and through the New Year.  May you lay your regrets, sorrows, confusions, hurt feelings, successes, and whatever else may be a lingering hindrance to living “today” for Jesus.  We have an amazing Lord and Savior who is totally sufficient to meet our every need—whether it’s a ‘hail’ or a ‘farewell’!  Today is a gift given by God to you and me, let’s commit to use each day ‘today’, leaving our regrets before the ‘throne of grace’ (See Hebrews 4:15-16) and our successes at Jesus feet.  God has promised that HE is ever at work conforming His own “into the image of His son” (See Romans 8:28-29), and I’m convinced that God always does good work, even (if not especially) when we mess up, HE said HE would, and HE has proven Himself faithful in my life, and the lives of so many.  Look up my friends, not around at a lost and dying world who needs Jesus, but up to your Father and His Son Jesus who is ever interceding for us to be HIS hands and feet to those lost and dying around us.

“Who is he that condemneth?

It is Christ that died,

yea rather, that is risen again,

 who is even at the right hand of God,

who also maketh intercession

for us.”  Romans 8:34

So, let’s march confidently into each day—now and into the New Year (so called, for they’ve been coming and going since God set creation in place!  But that’s a study for another time!)!  Here’s Paul’s admonition and encouragement for each of us, “press on”!

“Yea doubtless,

and I count all things but loss

for the excellency of the knowledge

of Christ Jesus my Lord:

for whom I have suffered the loss

of all things,

and do count them but dung,

that I may win Christ,

9 And be found in him,

not having mine own righteousness,

which is of the law,

but that which is through

the faith of Christ,

the righteousness which is of God by faith:

10 That I may know him,

and the power of his resurrection,

and the fellowship of his sufferings,

being made conformable unto his death; …

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended:

but this one thing I do,

forgetting those things

which are behind,

and reaching forth unto those things

which are before,

14 I press toward the mark

for the prize of the high calling of God

in Christ Jesus.

15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, (mature)

be thus minded:

and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded,

God shall reveal even this unto you.

16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained,

let us walk by the same rule,

let us mind the same thing.”  Portions of Philippians 3:8-16

And if I might borrow Paul’s words of conclusion to this part of his call to the Philippian believers, may we be found faithfully standing “fast in the Lord”!  The prayer of my heart is that Jesus will find us so standing when He comes for us or when we go to HIM!  Ready or not here HE comes!

“Therefore,

my brethren dearly beloved

and longed for,

my joy and crown,

so stand fast in the Lord,

my dearly beloved.”  Philippians 4:1

May the blessings of God rain down on you, and your eyes, heart and mind be open to receive them, praising God for them all!

Amen and Amen!!!

Doing My Part In The New Year? A Word from THE WORD!!! #57

2 Corinthians 9:7-11, A faithful God, Abide In The Vine, Abiding In Jesus, Apart from ME you can do nothing, God is all we need, God will never forsake YOU, God will provide, Happy New Year, Hebrews 13:5-6, John 15:4-5, Matthew 11:27-30, May we be a faithful people, Philippians 4:8-20, Proverbs 3:5-6, Stand Fast In The Evil Day, We are never alone, You are never alone.

Doing My Part In The New Year?  A Word from THE WORD!!! #57

“All things are delivered unto me of my Father:

and no man knoweth the Son,

but the Father;

neither knoweth any man the Father,

save the Son,

and he to whomsoever the Son

will reveal him.

28 Come unto me,

all ye that labour

and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you,

and learn of me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy,

and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:27-30

As we approach another New Year, I simply want to remind each of us (myself at the head of that list!) to determine to not just “do” better, but to “BE” better, by God’s grace, power, and a dependence upon HIS WORD!  For only when I’m in sync with God’s will and direction will I see God’s best!  Being always precedes doing!  Jesus said it best.

“Abide in me,

and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself,

except it abide in the vine;

no more can ye,

except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine,

ye are the branches:

He that abideth in me,

and I in him,

the same bringeth forth much fruit:

for without me ye can do nothing.”  John 15:4-5

It’s all about abiding in Jesus, not depending on my own wisdom–for I fall so far short, but Jesus never fails, and He has promised to never leave us, so here are some biblical reminders of “how to”!

“Trust in the LORD

with all thine heart;

and lean not

unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways

acknowledge him,

and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise

in thine own eyes:

fear the LORD,

and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel,

and marrow to thy bones.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

“Let your conversation

be without covetousness;

and be content

with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.”  Hebrews 13:5-6

So, let’s commit together to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, our hearts and minds set on following HIM, and look up pressing onward “in Jesus”!  And I share one of my favorite and most practical passages for walking with Jesus!

“8 Finally, brethren,

whatsoever things are true,

whatsoever things are honest,

whatsoever things are just,

whatsoever things are pure,

whatsoever things are lovely,

whatsoever things are of good report;

if there be any virtue,

and if there be any praise,

think on these things…

… 13 I can do all things

through Christ

which strengtheneth me…

… 19 But my God shall supply all your need

according to his riches

in glory

by Christ Jesus.

20 Now unto God and our Father

be glory for ever and ever.

Amen.”  Portions of Philippians 4:8-20

And I leave you with another great reminder from the Apostle Paul, and I pray that you may grow in grace, mercy, and peace in the new year, being a reflection of Jesus to the world where we can make a difference around us–a world that truly needs JESUS!  Amen!

“Every man according as he purposeth

in his heart,

so let him give;

not grudgingly,

or of necessity:

for God loveth a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able

to make all grace abound toward you;

that ye,

always having all sufficiency

in all things,

may abound to every good work:

9 (As it is written,

He hath dispersed abroad;

he hath given to the poor:

his righteousness remaineth for ever.

10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower

both minister bread for your food,

and multiply your seed sown,

and increase the fruits

of your righteousness😉

11 Being enriched in every thing

to all bountifulness,

which causeth through us

thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:7-11

Amen and Amen!!!

Our love, prayers and hope for the glory of God to encourage you!  Have a blessed and joyous New Year!
