Not Ashamed Of The Gospel???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #338

I just want to take a few minutes this morning to remind us that all the hype, bunnies, chocolate, or colored eggs aren’t to be our focus during this season but the resurrection of our Lord; the sole act that sealed our redemption.  So, I want to share just a couple of passages to direct our hearts and minds to Jesus and the Gospel; for the gospel is simple but demanding, even as Jesus said in John chapter 3:

“Jesus answered and said unto him,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born again,

he cannot see the kingdom of God.

 4 Nicodemus saith unto him,

How can a man be born when he is old?

can he enter the second time

into his mother’s womb,

and be born?

5 Jesus answered,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born of water

and of the Spirit,

he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh

is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit

is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again.”  John 3:3-7

It’s not our works, or where we were born, or even if or where we attend church—it is all about the death, burial and resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ to pay for our sin.  I join with Paul and declare that I am not ashamed to proclaim that there is only one way to God—to heaven—to eternal life instead of eternal death in hell, and that is through Jesus Christ my Lord; by repentance of my sin, and faith/belief/trust in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice at Calvary, and the fact that He didn’t stay dead but HE AROSE!!!

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:

for it is the power of God unto salvation

to every one that believeth;

to the Jew first,

and also to the Greek.

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed

from faith to faith:

as it is written,

The just shall live by faith.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven

against all ungodliness

and unrighteousness of men,

who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God

is manifest in them;

for God hath shewed it unto them.” Romans 1:16-19

God is revealing Himself every day in everything around us, and we can heed His call upon our hearts and minds, or we can choose to reject it!  But remember this new birth comes by faith in Jesus, not religion, not acts of kindness or even good works—it is “through faith, not of works, lest any man should boast”!  (See Ephesians 2:8-10). So the question is all about Jesus—what have you done with His sacrifice for you!  People may laugh, and scoff; they may call me a fanatic, but I will stand upon the truth as long as Jesus gives me breath!  How about you?  Do you know Him personally?  Have you bowed the knee before Him at the call of His voice upon your heart?  Are you playing games with God, trying to do things your own way?  Are you full of pride in your own “religious” activities; regardless of what you have chosen to believe, I want to leave you/us with the clear truth of what the gospel is.  Paul put it in a nutshell, so to speak, and I leave you with it, that you may ponder how you think you are going to get to heaven!  Please come with me to the cross and on to glory with Jesus Christ my King and Lord!

“For I delivered unto you first of all

that which I also received,

how that Christ died

for our sins

according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried,

and that he rose again

the third day

according to the scriptures:

5 And that he was seen

of Cephas, then of the twelve:

6 After that, he was seen

of above five hundred brethren at once;

of whom the greater part remain

unto this present,

but some are fallen asleep.

7 After that, he was seen of James;

then of all the apostles.

8 And last of all he was seen of me also,

as of one born out of due time.”   1 Corinthians 15:3-8

I pray that you will heed the voice of God’s Spirit speaking to your heart and come to Jesus!  Meet Him at the cross—there is always room for one more!!!

Are You Fighting Or Trusting???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #335

We often face battles and forget that our Lord is standing with us, for us, and His Spirit will lead and provide if we will but learn to trust Jesus (But I’m doing pretty good by myself, right?) to lead us on that straight path.  Oh, to learn to trust Him more, to rest in HIM more, to follow even in the dark.  One of my favorite reminders of this is King Jehosaphat, and the literal battle that God promised to fight for him and the people of Israel.  What battles are you trying to face alone?  You don’t have to, God is ready, willing, able and He wants you to look to His sufficient grace and provision. (Simple but almost always not easy!!!)

“And he said,

Hearken ye, all Judah,

and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem,

 and thou king Jehoshaphat,

Thus saith the LORD unto you,

Be not afraid nor dismayed

by reason of this great multitude;

for the battle is not yours,

but God’s.

16 To morrow go ye down against them:

behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz;

and ye shall find them at the end of the brook,

before the wilderness of Jeruel.

17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle:

set yourselves,

stand ye still,

 and see the salvation of the LORD with you,

O Judah and Jerusalem:

 fear not,

nor be dismayed;

to morrow go out against them:

for the LORD will be with you.”                                2 Chronicles 20:15-17

Hallelujah!  Praise be to God!  How many victories have we missed because we wanted to “do it myself”?  God is faithful and trustworthy, and one of the greatest passages in all of scripture reminds us of the character, goodness, and “the power of HIS might” (See Ephesians 6:10-19)!  Daniel and his friends had prayed for God’s deliverance and HIS wisdom to diffuse the King’s angry decree to slay all the ‘wise’ men, including Daniel and his friends.  God heard and I encourage you to rehearse and even memorize this precious declaration of praise and glory to The One who IS God—our great deliverer!!!

“Then Daniel went to his house,

and made the thing known

to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions:

18 That they would desire mercies

of the God of heaven concerning this secret;

that Daniel and his fellows should not perish

with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel

in a night vision.

Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

20 Daniel answered and said,

Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever:

for wisdom and might are his:

21 And he changeth

the times and the seasons:

he removeth kings,

and setteth up kings:

 he giveth wisdom unto the wise,

and knowledge

to them that know understanding:

22 He revealeth

the deep and secret things:

he knoweth

what is in the darkness,

and the light

dwelleth with him.

23 I thank thee, and praise thee,

O thou God of my fathers,

who hast given me wisdom and might,

and hast made known unto me now

what we desired of thee:

for thou hast now made known unto us

the king’s matter.”  Daniel 2:18-23

I ask you to ponder these things, no matter the battle that you may be facing; God sees, He knows, and He is ready, able and willing to stand with YOU!  I pray that like Daniel and even David with his sling, we will trust God no matter the giants that are coming against us.  Paul said it better than I can.  Remember, we win!!!

“O death, where is thy sting?

O grave, where is thy victory?

56 The sting of death is sin;

and the strength of sin is the law.

57 But thanks be to God,

which giveth us the victory

through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren,

be ye stedfast,

unmoveable,

always abounding in the work of the Lord,

forasmuch as ye know

that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”                                1 Corinthians 15:55-18

Press on my dear friends, and always let God fight for you!  You are not alone.  If you don’t know Jesus, listen for His voice calling you and come to the cross in repentance of your sin and faith/trust in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice which saves those who come to Him, turning from sin and giving us eternal life in exchange. “He shall save His people from their sins...” (See Matthew 1:21)

Merry Christmas To You!!!  A Word from THE WORD!!! #307

We, my husband and I, wish you a Merry Christmas.  May the joys of the Lord bring you peace as you bow before The Christ child—not only at the manger, but at the cross where He paid for my sin and yours.

“For unto us a child is born,

unto us a son is given:

and the government shall be upon his shoulder:

and his name shall be called

Wonderful, Counsellor,

The mighty God,

The everlasting Father,

The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government

and peace there shall be no end,

upon the throne of David,

and upon his kingdom,

to order it,

and to establish it

with judgment

and with justice

from henceforth even for ever.

The zeal of the LORD of hosts

will perform this.”  Isaiah 9:6-7

The King came to deliver us from our sin—but He will return to set up His kingdom upon His returns.  Even as the angel told Joseph.

“And she shall bring forth a son,

and thou shalt call his name JESUS:

for he shall save his people from their sins.”  Matthew 1:21

And even clearer, God gave Mary and Joseph confirmation, when they took Jesus to the Temple, and I will abbreviate the passage here, but I encourage you to read all of Luke 1 and 2.

“…to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord…

25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem,

whose name was Simeon; …

…and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost,

that he should not see death,

before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple:

and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, …

…28 Then took he him up in his arms,

and blessed God, and said,

29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart

in peace, according to thy word:

30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

31 Which thou hast prepared

before the face of all people;

32 A light to lighten the Gentiles,

and the glory of thy people Israel.

33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled …

…34 And Simeon blessed them,

and said unto Mary his mother,

Behold, this child is set

for the fall and rising again of many in Israel;

and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce

through thy own soul also,)

that the thoughts of many hearts

may be revealed.

36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, …

of a great age…

…37 And she was a widow … which departed not

from the temple,

but served God with fastings and prayers

night and day.

38 And she coming in that instant

gave thanks likewise unto the Lord,

and spake of him to all them

that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.”                         Portions of Luke 2:24-38

And in closing, a reminder that this babe born to die for our sin, is coming again.  It’s your choice what you will do with Him, but choose wisely, there is a test.

“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne

and of the four beasts,

and in the midst of the elders,

 stood a Lamb

as it had been slain,

 having seven horns and seven eyes,

which are the seven Spirits of God

sent forth into all the earth.

7 And he came and took the book

out of the right hand

of him that sat upon the throne.

8 And when he had taken the book,

the four beasts and four and twenty elders

fell down before the Lamb,

having every one of them harps,

and golden vials full of odours,

which are the prayers of saints.

9 And they sung a new song, saying,

Thou art worthy to take the book,

and to open the seals thereof:

for thou wast slain,

and hast redeemed us to God

by thy blood

out of every kindred, and tongue,

and people, and nation;

10 And hast made us unto our God

kings and priests:

and we shall reign on the earth.

11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels

round about the throne

and the beasts and the elders:

and the number of them was ten thousand

times ten thousand,

and thousands of thousands;

12 Saying with a loud voice,

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain

to receive power,

and riches, and wisdom,

and strength, and honour,

and glory, and blessing.

13 And every creature which is in heaven,

and on the earth,

and under the earth,

and such as are in the sea,

and all that are in them,

heard I saying,

Blessing, and honour,

and glory, and power,

be unto him that sitteth upon the throne,

and unto the Lamb

for ever and ever.”  Revelation 5:6-13

And Jesus’ own promise.  Make sure you’re ready!

“Behold, I come quickly:

blessed is he that keepeth the sayings

of the prophecy of this book…

…. 12 And, behold, I come quickly;

and my reward is with me,

to give every man according as his work shall be.

13 I am Alpha and Omega,

the beginning and the end,

 the first and the last.”   Portions of Revelation 22:7-13

Amen and Amen!!!

The Way To Celebrate??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #163

“Jesus saith unto him,

I am

the way,

the truth,

and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.”  John 14:6

I know it’s not very popular today to stand by the truth that Jesus IS the only way to God—to heaven—to have eternal life!  It’s why Jesus came, and the story was ‘the story’ from “before the foundation of the world”!  The question is, “What will you do with this baby born in a barn, laid in a manger, the One who walked this earth with sinful men, yet remained sinless and walked to Calvary to pay for your sin and mine!”  What will you do with Him?  Leave Him in the manger?  Or bow before Him as your Lord and Savior?  It’s your choice, but choose wisely, there is a test!

“Father, I will that they also,

whom thou hast given me,

be with me where I am;

that they may behold my glory,

which thou hast given me:

for thou lovedst me

before the foundation of the world.”   John 17:24

Angels proclaimed the truth to Zacharias, to Mary, to Joseph, to shepherds—the good news that The Savior has come.

“And, behold,

thou shalt conceive in thy womb,

and bring forth a son,

and shalt call his name JESUS.

 32 He shall be great,

and shall be called the Son of the Highest:

and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne

of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever;

and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”   Luke 1:31-33

“And she shall bring forth a son,

and thou shalt call his name JESUS:

for he shall save his people from their sins.”  Matthew 1:21

“And the angel said unto them,

Fear not:

for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,

which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day

in the city of David

a Saviour,

which is Christ the Lord.”  Luke 2:10-11

Great news for all people, yet Jesus reminded us that there is even a greater part of that good news—when we come to HIM for this salvation, HE will not only “save his people from their sins...” but even the angels rejoice at the redemption promised to Adam and Eve, and to us.  All because this tiny baby was headed to Calvary to pay for our sin and restore us to HIS kingdom.  All this planned before “the foundation of the world”!

God knew we would fail, yet He had already provided for our restoration and salvation from the promised penalty of sin—death—a Savior was on the way!

“Father, I will that they also,

whom thou hast given me,

be with me where I am;

that they may behold my glory,

which thou hast given me:

for thou lovedst me

before the foundation of the world.”   John 17:24

“Blessed be the God and Father

of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings

in heavenly places

in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us

in him

before the foundation of the world,

that we should be holy

and without blame

before him in love:” Ephesians 1:3-4

Peter also reminds us that our hope isn’t in a manger, or stars, or miraculous events, but in the blood of Jesus that “cleanseth us from all sin”!  It’s HIS way or no way!

“And if ye call on the Father,

who without respect of persons

judgeth according to every man’s work,

pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

18 Forasmuch as ye know

that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,

as silver and gold,

from your vain conversation

received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ,

as of a lamb without blemish

and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained

before the foundation of the world,

but was manifest in these last times for you,

21 Who by him do believe in God,

that raised him up from the dead,

and gave him glory;

that your faith and hope might be in God.” 1 Peter 1:17-21

So, I pray that you know HIM, and will “walk worthy” of His grace, His love, and the blood that HE spilled ‘on purpose’ for you and me.  I pray that you will truly remember to celebrate JESUS!  If angels rejoice, we have even more cause!

“Likewise, I say unto you,

there is joy in the presence of the angels of God

over one sinner that repenteth.” Luke15:10

While the angels do rejoice when a sinner repents, remember, Jesus warned us that repentance is necessary for all.  May we take heed to the truths of God’s Word and repent, receive and believe in the substitutionary, atoning sacrifice that the ‘babe in the manger’ came to be!  May you draw near to Jesus and celebrate His blessings of love, grace, and salvation!

“I tell you, Nay:

but, except ye repent,

ye shall all likewise perish.”  Luke 13:5

“Then said Jesus unto his disciples,

If any man will come after me,

let him deny himself,

and take up his cross,

and follow me.”  Matthew 16:24

May this lost world see us following JESUS!!!

I Deserve Hell??? You???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #141

I have an important word this evening, and I pray that it will be received where it is needed, for without Jesus, there is no hope!  There is no salvation! But if we never see our sin, we’ll never need a Savior!  Where are you today?  Religious?  Self-righteous? Self-sufficient? Without any need?  Jesus said that without repentance we will perish; so I’d like to share some of the words of Jesus that warn us that we need Jesus, and there is no other solution to our SIN problem, and we all have one!  If you think you don’t have sin, then you will leave this world without a Savior, a Redeemer.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate:

for wide is the gate,

and broad is the way,

that leadeth to destruction,

and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate,

and narrow is the way,

which leadeth unto life,

and few there be that find it…

….21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;

but he that doeth

the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day,

Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?

and in thy name have cast out devils?

and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them,

I never knew you:

depart from me,

ye that work iniquity.” Parts/Matthew 7:13-23

Jesus also makes it clear that ‘repentance’ is essential to salvation, because if we see no need of repentance, it’s likely that we do not see our sin, or the need to repent of our sin and trust and believe in Jesus’ substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for MY sin!

“I tell you, Nay:

but, except ye repent,

ye shall all likewise perish…

…. 5 I tell you, Nay:

but, except ye repent,

ye shall all likewise perish.”   Luke 13:3 & 5

Our salvation is why Jesus came!  Will you receive HIM?

“And she shall bring forth a son,

and thou shalt call his name JESUS:

for he shall save his people

from their sins.”  Matthew 1:21

Also, Jesus promises to keep those who come to HIM in this same repentance and faith!

“All that the Father giveth me

shall come to me;

and him that cometh to me

I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven,

not to do mine own will,

but the will of him

that sent me.

39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me,

that of all which he hath given me

I should lose nothing,

but should raise it up again

at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me,

that every one which seeth the Son,

and believeth on him,

may have everlasting life:

and I will raise him up

at the last day.”  John 6:37-40

In this same vein, Paul paints an amazing picture of why salvation is dependent upon our recognition of sin, repentance, and faith in JESUS!

“For all have sinned,

and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely

by his grace

through the redemption

that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth

to be a propitiation

through faith in his blood,

to declare his righteousness

for the remission of sins

that are past,

through the forbearance

of God;” Romans 3:23-25

“For the wages of sin

is death;

but the gift of God

is eternal life

through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Romans 6:23

 While I know that I have broached this subject on numerous times, it is the one thing in this life that is truly “all that matters”!  So I’ll keep repeating it until all have heard!

“For I am not ashamed

of the gospel of Christ:

for it is the power of God

unto salvation

to every one that believeth;

to the Jew first,

and also to the Greek.”  Romans 1:16

And as Peter proclaimed with boldness—may we also be bold in our call to salvation!

“Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name under heaven

given among men,

whereby we must be saved.”  Acts 4:12

I pray that you will examine your heart today; have you received The Redeemer?  Or do you plan on taking care of your own sin; there are only two options—Salvation IN JESUS, or hell for those who reject HIM.

It’s your choice but choose wisely there is a test, and HIS name is JESUS!!!
