Entitled Or Grateful??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #409
βBut I beseech you,
that I may not be bold
when I am present
with that confidence,
wherewith I think to be bold against some,
which think of us
as if we walked according to the flesh.
3 For though we walk in the flesh,
we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare
are not carnal,
but mighty through God
to the pulling down
of strong holdsπ
5 Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing
that exalteth itself
against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity
every thought
to the obedience of Christ;βΒ 2 Corinthians 10:2-5
This is a passage where Paul is calling us to remember that we are to learn from Godβs work in our lives, not only in the spiritual realm, but also understanding that God is ever at work through the physical circumstances that surround us to teach us, grow us, and most importantly to conform us into the image of our Lord Jesus Christ, being an example of His grace in us to a lost and dying world!.
βLikewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:
for we know not what we should pray for
as we ought:
but the Spirit itself
maketh intercession for us
with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts
knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,
because he maketh intercession
for the saints
according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things
work together for good
to them that love God,
to them who are the called
according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow,
he also did predestinate
to be conformed to the image of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn
among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate,
them he also called:
and whom he called,
them he also justified:
and whom he justified,
them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things?
If God be for us,
who can be against us?βΒ Romans 8:26-31
And while these two passages are a bit lengthy, I want us to get a grasp on the truth that we are blessed by a God who not only loves us but also has made perfect provision for us in every way. In thinking of that may we not become complacent or become like the world around us and fixate on expectations rather than gratitude! Β We are called to be a grateful people, not only by scripture, but by the very truth that ββ¦God so loved the world (ME) that He gaveβ¦β!Β He gave His βonly begotten Sonβ¦β for you and me!Β He gave Him to die for my sin and yours.Β And if there is one passage that pictures this amazing love, grace and provision that Jesus made for all who will come to Him, it is found in 2 Corinthians.
β17 Therefore if any man be in Christ,
he is a new creature:
old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become newβ¦
β¦ 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us,
who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God
in him.βΒ 2 Corinthians 5:17 & 21
John said it this way:
βWe love him, because he first loved us.βΒ 1 John 4:19
I am grateful that God loved me first!Β I was lost in sinβas we all areβyet Jesus reached down and lifted me up to Himself.Β I encourage you to examine your own heart and ask God to help you know where you stand with Himβand if you ask in faith, He will reveal your true state to you; if you are saved He will encourage you in The Word, and if not, He will bring you to the cross if you will but hear His voice and heed His call.Β It isnβt by entitlement, but by grace!Β How we ought to continually have an attitude of gratitude; Paul says it better than I can.
βBut thanks be to God,
which giveth us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren,
be ye
stedfast,
unmoveable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord,
forasmuch as ye know
that your labour is not in vain
in the Lord.βΒ 1 Corinthians 15:57-58
I ask you to join me in thanking God always, in all things, remembering that in Jesusβwe are victorious!Β Remember, as I often say, We Win!Β Keep that attitude of gratitude, not looking for what you think you are βentitled toβ!Β As the old song calls us to βcount your blessingsβ!Β I encourage you to spend some time this week rehearsing your blessingsβcount them, name them, and thank God for them!Β And if He lays someone on your heart that you need to thankβdo it!Β Today!Β Today!Β Today!
Thank you, Jesus, for all youβve done for me!Β Thank you for these precious friends who follow these posts each week!Β Grow each of us in Your grace!!!
Amen and Amen!!!
