Bible Ballistics: Vol. 14 No. 01  What Do You Have On Tap???

When we go out to a ‘fast food’ restaurant, which we don’t do often, they usually hand us a cup so you can fill it yourself. You choose what soft drink you want at the soda dispenser, and when you put your cup under the tap, you usually get what the label says you’ll get.  But there are those times when there is a major faux pas; you sometimes get all syrup, or all soda water; or even worse you get the wrong ‘flavor’!  YUCK!  Now sometimes, it’s just hoses that got crossed up, but usually it’s because something is empty or someone didn’t do their job—either way, what “IS” in the tap, “IS” what you get, whether you want it or not!  I think it’s often the same way with us; we don’t always keep our hearts and minds set on Jesus, and when people pull the tab, or push the button, or insert their cup, so to speak, they are surprised, disappointed, angry, sick, offended, or totally caught off guard with the results of what was ‘on tap’!  Scripture has a lot to say about this issue—and I think it would behoove us to ponder what scripture has to say to me and you about what we keep ‘on tap’!  James gives us a great place to start.

“For every kind of beasts,

and of birds,

and of serpents,

and of things in the sea,

is tamed,

and hath been tamed of mankind:

8 But the tongue can no man tame;

it is an unruly evil,

full of deadly poison.

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father;

and therewith curse we men,

which are made after the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth

blessing

and cursing.

My brethren, these things

ought not so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place

sweet water

and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren,

bear olive berries?

either a vine,

figs?

so can no fountain both yield

salt water

and fresh.

13 Who is a wise man

and endued with knowledge among you?

let him shew out of a good conversation

his works

with meekness

of wisdom.

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife

in your hearts,

glory not,

and lie not

against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above,

but is earthly,

sensual,

devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is,

there is confusion

and every evil work.”  James 3:7-16

“17 But the wisdom that is from above

is first pure,

then peaceable,

gentle,

and easy to be intreated,

full of mercy

and good fruits,

without partiality,

and without hypocrisy.

18 And the fruit of righteousness

is sown in peace

of them

that make peace.” James 3:17-18

Let me say that the only way we can make “peace”, is when we have the “peace” of Jesus in our hearts.  It’s what I believe Jesus was talking about when He mentioned the “peace makers” in the beatitudes—not those who stop fights and wars, but those who have “peace with God”, and bring others to Jesus, to have “peace with God”!  And having peace with God, is having His Spirit within us (the Spirit of Jesus Christ), for Jesus is the only man (the God Man) who can ‘tame the tongue’ (or the heart)—mine or yours!  I can’t help but smile when I remember that James never heard of ‘social media’, but he surely seems to be describing it!

“Therefore being justified by faith,

we have peace with God

through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access

by faith

into this grace

wherein we stand,

and rejoice

in hope

of the glory of God.”    Romans 5:1-2

Having “peace with God”, is cause for rejoicing, yet so many seem to have no inspiration to rejoice, when all you hear from them is moaning and groaning (and while my age and my joints may give me cause to moan and groan in my aches and pains—my heart is full of gratitude and rejoicing in the LORD who delivered my soul from hell, and set my heart, mind and feet on a path toward glory!!  Amen and Amen)! It’s kind of like the old question, “What do you get when you squeeze a lemon?”, the answer isn’t lemon juice (which is what you ought to get, because it’s a lemon) but the true answer is, “You get out, whatever is inside?”!  The same is true with us!  Jesus reminds us of that on multiple occasions—what is ‘inside’ will come ‘out’, and Jesus must be ‘in’ our hearts to affect our ‘outside’ behavior!

“O generation of vipers,

how can ye,

being evil,

speak good things?

for out of the abundance of the heart

the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man

out of the good treasure of the heart

bringeth forth good things:

and an evil man

out of the evil treasure

bringeth forth evil things.

36 But I say unto you,

That every idle word

that men shall speak,

 they shall give account thereof

in the day of judgment.

37 For by thy words

thou shalt be justified,

and by thy words

thou shalt be condemned.”   Matthew 12: 34-37

Do my/your words reflect Jesus’ redeeming justification, or condemnation?  It’s your choice and it will bring the consequence!

“But those things which proceed out of the mouth

come forth from the heart;

and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart

proceed evil thoughts,

murders,

adulteries,

fornications,

thefts,

false witness,

blasphemies:

20 These are the things

which defile a man:

but to eat with unwashen hands

defileth not a man.”   Matthew 15:18-20

Simply put, you can wash the dirt off of your hands, but if you haven’t let Jesus wash your heart, it will keep putting out that which is vile.  Yet as a believer, my job is to speak truth and let people know truth, that there is a difference between the precious and the vile, and like Jeremiah, that isn’t always an easy job—in fact it hardly ever is!  But, when God saves us, and calls us to serve Him in a particular way, we may find that it may hurt, yet God’s grace “is sufficient” for it all (not because I say so, but because God says so, and I have found HIM faithful to the task—always!). Jeremiah wrote words that have often lifted my heart and encouraged my soul to press on!

“Why is my pain perpetual,

and my wound incurable,

which refuseth to be healed?

wilt thou be altogether unto me

as a liar,

and as waters that fail?

19 Therefore thus saith the LORD,

If thou return,

then will I bring thee again,

and thou shalt stand before me:

and if thou take forth

the precious

from the vile,

thou shalt be as my mouth:

let them return unto thee;

but return not thou unto them.

20 And I will make thee unto this people

a fenced brasen wall:

and they shall fight

against thee,

but they shall not prevail against thee:

for I am with thee

to save thee

and to deliver thee,

saith the LORD.

21 And I will deliver thee

out of the hand of the wicked,

and I will redeem thee

out of the hand of the terrible.”    Jeremiah 15:18-21

Much like John wrote in the Book of The Revelation, sometimes we are called to “go out from among them”; there are those who will not receive our testimony of truth, as well as those who will revile us for standing with Jesus.  We must stand as Joshua did and declare, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”; and sometimes that will cause others to reject you.  But I’d much rather stand with Jesus and truth and let the world judge me as they like, than to fall for the lies of the devil and face God’s judgment and lose my soul!

“For what shall it profit a man,

if he shall gain the whole world,

and lose his own soul?

37 Or what shall a man give

in exchange

for his soul?”  Mark 8:36-37

Whatever is in your tap will come out.

“My sheep hear my voice,

and I know them,

 and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life;

and they shall never perish,

neither shall any man pluck them

out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me,

is greater than all;

and no man is able

to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

30 I and my Father are one.”  John 10:27-30

Have you heard HIS voice and come to Him in repentance and faith; realizing and admitting that you have a sin problem that only Jesus can fix; believing that HIS substitutionary (He took your place at Calvary), atoning (He paid for my sin), sacrifice (He died for my sin debt), for I owed a debt that I couldn’t pay, and HE took my place to pay a debt that He didn’t owe; all because He loves me and you!  Because of HIS love and saving grace, how could I do any less than love Him in devotion and obedience before a lost and dying world in need of a Savior! I want to keep my tanks full of Jesus and may my ‘tap’ ever flow with HIS truth, love, power and grace!

 “If ye love me,

keep my commandments.”  John 14:15

Yet it’s not about ‘rules’ but relationship—a relationship with the ruler of the world who loved me and died for ME/YOU! Knowing that when we follow Him the world won’t like it!  But I’m going to keep on giving out JESUS regardless of the cost!  And unless Jesus returns soon, we need to know that persecution and suffering is on the way!

“Remember the word that I said unto you,

The servant is not greater

than his lord.

 If they have persecuted me,

they will also persecute you;

if they have kept my saying,

they will keep yours also.

21 But all these things will they do unto you

for my name’s sake,

because they know not him

that sent me.”  John 15:20-21

And again, as Jesus sent out the disciples to preach The Kingdom:

“And whosoever shall not receive you,

nor hear you,

when ye depart thence,

shake off the dust under your feet

for a testimony against them.

Verily I say unto you,

It shall be more tolerable

for Sodom

and Gomorrha

in the day of judgment,

than for that city.

12 And they went out,

and preached that men should repent.”    Mark 6:11-12

Paul reminded his son-in-the-ministry with a clear message that we must not miss (even though it’s not a popular message today—it IS truth)!

“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure,

having this seal,

The Lord knoweth them

that are his.

And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ

depart from iniquity.”   2 Timothy 2:19

“Yea, and all that will live godly

in Christ Jesus

shall suffer persecution.”  2 Timothy 3:12

So, my question for us today is simply, “What do you have on your tap?”  Is Jesus your shepherd?  Are you walking with Him in obedience and devotion, or have you allowed the enemy to steal your joy, peace and love?   Or have you never come to Jesus?  If He is knocking at the door of your heart you only have to open it up to Him!

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”   Revelation 3:20

I implore you to come to HIM—He is ever faithful! And if you know Him, but are not walking in the light, repent and He will cleanse you today.  Jesus is in the ‘cracked pot’ restoring business—I know because I am one!  I praise God for it!

“If we confess our sins,

he is faithful

and just

to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us

from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned,

we make him a liar,

and his word is not in us.”  1 John 1:9-10

Tap into Jesus—

“……..and him that cometh to me

I will in no wise cast out.”   John 6:37b

And that means YOU my friend—that means YOU!

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 13 No. 21     A Broken Heart???

Ever have a broken heart?  Most of us have had a broken heart at one time or another, and while it’s not something that we seek after, it is something that God understands.  And I don’t know about you, but I am eternally grateful for God’s love, care, and provision for those who experience a broken heart—in fact, for all!

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent

in the wilderness,

even so must the Son of man

be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son

into the world

to condemn the world;

but that the world

through him

might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him

is not condemned:

but he that believeth not

is condemned already,

because he hath not believed

in the name

of the only begotten

Son of God.”  John 3:14-18

God gave His all—His Best—Himself–that we might have life, abundant life in His Son, Jesus.  I can’t imagine the heartache that God felt as His Son hung on that cross for ‘my’ sin and ‘yours’!  And no matter what has caused your heart to break, God understands what you feel, He cares for the brokenhearted.

“The LORD is nigh unto them

that are of a broken heart;

and saveth such

as be of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous:

but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”    Psalm 34:18

And while God has promised us deliverance, his deliverance doesn’t always look like we think it will.  While God’s promises are “yes and amen”, His timing may be different than ours, but His work is ever secure and sure in His love, care and goodness.

“Wherefore let him

that thinketh he standeth

take heed

lest he fall.

13 There hath no temptation taken you

but such as is common to man:

but God is faithful,

who will not suffer you to be tempted

above that ye are able;

but will with the temptation

also make a way to escape,

that ye may be able to bear it.”  1 Corinthians 10:12-13

Paul reminds us, as he shares God’s message with us, that we are all subject to temptation in this human condition, and because of sin (original sin that came on all of Adam’s descendants, and personal sin that we all find ourselves in) we are subject to its insidious grip—but we don’t have to succumb!  God has provided through the sacrifice of Jesus, a way of escape—when we ‘fix our eyes’ on Jesus.  God wants to draw near to us when we are hurting—He knows and feels our pain.

“For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched

with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted

like as we are,

yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help

in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:15-16

Jesus tread the paths of human frailty and accomplished the victory for us—and because He did—we can trust Him with our heartaches, our sorrows, our grief, our confusion, our emotions!  Jesus cares and He has provided because He walked the same paths that we walk; He felt what we feel; He loved a world which for the most part didn’t love Him, and broke His heart—in fact they put Him to death—we put Him to death– because of our sin.  But unlike us, Jesus knew what He came to do, He knew that He was born to die for me and you; He knew that it would cost Him the cross, and because He paid that price, He saves us and makes those who will come to Him a part of HIS family, and invites us into His throne room to find a Father’s love and provision.  What are you in need of today?  Is your heart broken?  God loves you and is waiting for you to give it to Him!

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD

is upon me;

because the LORD

hath anointed me

to preach good tidings

unto the meek;

he hath sent me

to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim liberty

to the captives,

and the opening of the prison

to them that are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year

of the LORD,

and the day of vengeance

of our God;

to comfort

all that mourn;

3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion,

to give unto them beauty

for ashes,

the oil of joy

for mourning,

the garment of praise

for the spirit of heaviness;

that they might be called

trees of righteousness,

 the planting of the LORD,

that he might be glorified.”  Isaiah 61:1-3

We can be “the planting of the LORD” because He gave “His only begotten Son” to be the payment for our sin.  And even as Isaiah wrote hundreds of years before Jesus arrived, He was the plan for our redemption, and confirmed this in His public ministry.

“And there was delivered unto him

the book of the prophet Esaias.

And when he had opened the book,

he found the place where it was written,

18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

because he hath anointed me

to preach the gospel to the poor;

he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,

to preach deliverance to the captives,

 and recovering of sight to the blind,

to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20 And he closed the book,

and he gave it again to the minister,

and sat down.

And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue

were fastened on him.

21 And he began to say unto them,

This day is this scripture

fulfilled in your ears.”    Luke 4:17-21

Just like those in the synagogue that day, many today hear the Word of The Lord, and yet don’t perceive or hear what God is saying unto them; Jesus proclaimed to them that “HE” was the fulfillment of the promise of God recorded by Isaiah the prophet.  Yet on this occasion and others, the people took offense rather than believe, and people do the same thing today.  Yet God The Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit, accomplished the work of redemption at Calvary!  Oh, praise His name—you and I don’t have to stay broken!  Do you need healing?  Do you need mending?  Do you need a Savior?  Jesus is standing at the door of your heart knocking—calling—loving you!  You can choose HIM and His love or suffer on your own.

“Behold,

I stand at the door,

and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”   Revelation 3:20

Jesus is ever working to draw us near to Him that we might truly experience that “abundant life” He supplies!  We just have to keep our eyes on Him and run the race (even the ones that bring heartache and anguish) trusting to HIS care, not our own wisdom.  We have the complete testament of scripture to fill our hearts with examples of assurance and hope!

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about

with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight,

and the sin which doth so easily beset us,

and let us run with patience

the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus

the author

and finisher

of our faith;

who for the joy that was set before him

endured the cross,

despising the shame,

and is set down

at the right hand

of the throne of God.”   Hebrews 12:1-2

Jesus gave His all for us.  We can not only find peace, love and joy in Him, but we can trust HIM for our heartache, to clear the confusion we experience, and to overcome the challenges that life may bring.

“Trust in the LORD

with all thine heart;

and lean not

unto thine ownunderstanding.

6 In all thy ways

acknowledge him,

and he

shall direct thy paths.”   Proverbs 3:5-6

How?  By simply pursuing Jesus, His Word and resting in HIS care—He truly is a heart healer! I know—He has healed my heart more than once.  He has restored me when I got angry because His answers didn’t match my demands!  He has lifted me up when I didn’t have the strength to go on!  He has even given me grace to do things that were (and often still are) difficult. And I simply close with one of the passages that strengthens and renews my heart again and again.  He has soothed my heart when it has been broken by the very ones that I love the most!  He will do the same for you, if you will but “give it to Jesus”!

“Trust in the LORD,

and do good;

so shalt thou dwell in the land,

and verily thou shalt be fed.

4 Delight thyself also in the LORD;

and he shall give thee

the desires of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the LORD;

trust also in him;

and he shall bring it to pass.

6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness

as the light,

and thy judgment

as the noonday.

7 Rest in the LORD,

and wait patiently for him:

fret not thyself because of him

who prospereth in his way,

because of the man

who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8 Cease from anger,

and forsake wrath:

fret not thyself

in any wise

to do evil.”   Psalm 37:3-8

May you find HIS healing!  There truly is a ‘balm in Gilead’ (see Jeremiah 8:22 & 46:11).  Blessings on your week!

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 13 No. 16   Live, Breathe, Be???

I have friends, and you probably do too, who have chronic illnesses, in fact I have several friends who have not only chronic illnesses, but genetically based diseases.  That would be a hard thing to deal with, knowing that you could pass on a disease to your children and/or grandchildren, especially since it is out of my/your control.; but there’s something else that we need to consider, for it is even more far-reaching than a chronic disease, and if not treated appropriately, it is truly fatal.  That is “SIN”, and while we all pass it on to our children and our grandchildren, there is something that we can do—something that IS within our control!  And that something is JESUS!  While we may not have a choice about the genetic pool that is passed on to us, we do have a choice about our response to sin, and the choice that we make will affect those around us whether we are related or not!

Scripture clearly tells us that we are all afflicted with the disease of sin!

“As it is written,

There is none righteous,

no,

not one:”  Romans 3:10

That means that sin is the issue—we all have it, but only Jesus can provide the cure (so to speak)!

“For all have sinned,

and come short of the glory of God;”  Romans 3:23

All–that means me; and that means you!  Every human being is born into sin (except the God-Man Savior, Jesus), and we can choose to respond to the gospel of Jesus, hear the convicting voice of the Holy Spirit, repent and receive the saving grace that He died to provide; or you can choose to pay for you own sin!

“For the wages of sin is death;

but the gift of God

is eternal life

through Jesus Christ our Lord.”   Romans 6:23

We are all born in sin, but when we come to Jesus in repentance and faith, we don’t have to die in our sin.  Jesus has already done that for us; therefore, Hell doesn’t have to be our future.  We can have life now and forever—abundant life IN Jesus!

“Then said Jesus unto them again,

Verily, verily, I say unto you,

I am the door of the sheep.

8 All that ever came before me

are thieves

and robbers:

but the sheep did not hear them.

9 I am the door:

by me if any man enter in,

he shall be saved,

and shall go in and out,

and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not,

but for to steal,

and to kill,

and to destroy:

I am come

that they might have life,

and that they might have it

more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd:

the good shepherd giveth his life

for the sheep.”  John 10:7-11

Jesus IS the good shepherd, for HE gave His life for our salvation, all because God loved us.

“We love him, because he first loved us.”  1 John 4:19

What a wonderful verse!  Salvation was, is and ever shall be God’s idea, God pursued us, for salvation is always initiated by God—it’s not our idea!  We can only respond to HIS grace which has been extended to us as His Spirit reveals Him to us.  Have you heard His voice? His knock at your heart’s door?

“Behold,

I stand at the door,

and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”  Revelation 3:20

And to be the Redeemer, Jesus gave His own life, of His own will to save us!  God sent Jesus to pay for ‘my’ sin and ‘yours’!

“Ye men of Israel, hear these words;

Jesus of Nazareth,

a man approved of God

among you by miracles

and wonders

and signs,

which God did by him

in the midst of you,

as ye yourselves also know:

23 Him, being delivered

by the determinate counsel

and foreknowledge

of God,

ye have taken,

and by wicked hands

have crucified

and slain:

24 Whom God hath raised up,

having loosed the pains of death:

because it was not possible

that he should be holden of it.”   Acts 2:22-24

Not only preached by Peter and the apostles, but also foretold by Jesus Himself.

“And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold:

them also I must bring,

and they shall hear my voice;

and there shall be one fold,

and one shepherd.

17 Therefore doth my Father love me,

because I lay down my life,

that I might take it again.

18 No man taketh it from me,

but I lay it down of myself.

I have power to lay it down,

and I have power to take it again.

This commandment have I received

of my Father.”   John 10:16-18

Jesus came out of love for us and obediently lay down HIS life for me and you!  Praise God for His amazing grace that saves and keeps those who will come to HIM! Oh, to have the words to describe the wondrous grace that He has bestowed on me/us, and to express the gratitude that fills my heart.  And because of that gratitude and recognition of the blessings of God, we ought to behave in accord with what we have received.  I truly believe that one of the problems we face today is an overabundance of people who profess what they don’t possess!  But God knows those who are HIS, and Jesus made it clear that what’s in our hearts will come out—one way or another; sooner or later!

“Nevertheless the foundation of God

standeth sure,

having this seal,

The Lord knoweth them that are his.

And, Let every one

that nameth the name of Christ

depart from iniquity.”  2 Timothy 2:19

We can find victory in living when we learn to depend on the direction, provision and instruction of God’s Word and His Holy Spirit.

“16 This I say then,

Walk in the Spirit,

and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh…..

24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh

with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit,

let us also walk in the Spirit.”   Galatians 5:16 & 24-25

How much we miss when we forget that when we belong to Jesus, He provides all we need for faithful, godly living.

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you

through the knowledge of God,

and of Jesus our Lord,

3 According as his divine power

hath given unto us

all things that pertain

unto life and godliness,

through the knowledge of him

that hath called us to glory

and virtue:

4 Whereby are given unto us

exceeding great

and precious promises:

that by these

ye might be partakers

of the divine nature,

 having escaped the corruption

that is in the world through lust.”  2 Peter 1:3

Power to overcome is found in The Spirit and The Word of Him who laid down His life for me and you!  We can live and prevail by His grace, as we die to self and live “in Jesus”!

“For in him

we live,

and move,

and have our being;

as certain also of your own poets have said,

 For we are also his offspring.”  Acts 17:28

“I am crucified with Christ:

 nevertheless I live;

yet not I,

but Christ liveth in me:

and the life which I now live in the flesh

I live by the faith

of the Son of God,

who loved me,

and gave himself for me.”   Galatians 2:20

All because Jesus holds it all together—right now, and always.

“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,

and upholding all things

by the word of his power,

when he had by himself purged our sins,

sat down on the right hand

of the Majesty on high;”  Hebrews 1:3

So, a few questions, “In “whom” (or how) do you ‘live, and move, and have your being”?   Have you died to self at the cross, to live by “faith of the Son of God”?  The choice is yours but choose wisely; there is a test at the end!

One last word to challenge our minds!

“And be not drunk

with wine, wherein is excess;

but be filled

with the Spirit;

19 Speaking to yourselves

in psalms

and hymns

and spiritual songs,

singing and making melody

 in your heart to the Lord;

20 Giving thanks always

for all things

unto God and the Father

in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

21 Submitting yourselves

one to another

in the fear of God.”  Ephesians 5:18-21

Are you “filled with the Spirit” (which means to be pervaded, controlled by) or is something else ‘controlling’ you? (It matters not if it’s drugs, liquor, sex, greed, lying and deceit, power, manipulation, ego, sloth, or ambition).  What are you filling your life with!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #546       God Is Still God!!!

“In the year that king Uzziah died

I saw also the Lord

sitting upon a throne,

high and lifted up,

and his train filled the temple.

2 Above it stood the seraphims:

each one had six wings;

with twain he covered his face,

and with twain he covered his feet,

and with twain he did fly.

3 And one cried unto another, and said,

Holy, holy, holy,

 is the LORD of hosts:

the whole earth is full of his glory.

4 And the posts of the door moved

at the voice of him that cried,

and the house was filled with smoke.

5 Then said I,

Woe is me!

for I am undone;

because

I am a man of unclean lips,

and I dwell in the midst of

a people of unclean lips:

for mine eyes have seen the King,

the LORD of hosts.”  Isaiah 6:1-5

 Isaiah had a life-changing encounter with God—and we can have the same when we come to Jesus.  Isaiah saw God in His holiness, which brought him to see himself in his sinful state!  And that’s what we each must do—come to see God for who He is—GOD—and to see ourselves as sinners with no recourse to fix our sin problem.  And SIN is the problem—you/I have it, you/I can’t fix it, but Jesus can and will if we will but humble ourselves before Him as Isaiah did.  Isaiah saw God as:

 “The Lord—                  High and lifted up—

  Holy, Holy, Holy—

  The Lord of hosts—   Full of glory—

  The KING—                The LORD of hosts–”!

Amen and amen!  And as Isaiah had his sin dealt with by a burning coal, Jesus dealt with sin at Calvary for all who will come to Him—the promise that Isaiah looked for, is the One we look back to.  As He invited people then, He is still inviting people to Himself today! (He who has ‘eyes like fire’, see Isaiah 6:6-9 and Rev. 1:13-15).

“Come unto me,

all ye that labour

 and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you,

and learn of me;

for I am meek

and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest

unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy,

and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Jesus will give “rest unto your souls”—for HE is still God, HE is the Sacrifice for sin, The Redeemer of my/your soul.  Do you hear a knock at your heart’s door?  He’s waiting!

“Behold, I stand at the door,

and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”  Revelation 3:20

Bible Ballistics: BBs #532   Forgetting Our Manners???

I hope you had a pleasant Valentine’s Day—that you got to spend time with the people in your life, whether by phone, or text or in person.  Time with the people we love is a gift from God, and yet we often forget to thank God for our life, our blessings, for the greatest Valentine (testament to love), Jesus, as well as others!!!

I pray that we will never forget our debt of gratitude to others, especially our Lord! He has given so much, not only ‘to’ us, but ‘for’ us!

“And you hath he quickened,

who were deadin trespasses and sins;”    Ephesians 2:1

He has given us life, His life—new life IN Jesus.

“Jesus answered and said unto her,

If thou knewest the gift of God,

and who it is that saith to thee,

Give me to drink;

thou wouldest have asked of him,

and he would have given thee

living water……

13 Jesus answered and said unto her,

Whosoever drinketh of this water

shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water

that I shall give him

shall never thirst;

but the water

that I shall give him

shall be in him a well of water

springing up

into everlasting life.”    John 4:10, 13-14

I love this picture of ever-springing water that wells up, imparting everlasting life through Jesus!  I’m so grateful for “life”—the life that Jesus gives us—born anew from the deadness of sin.  His life springing up like an artesian well in us! I love the sweet taste of water springing from an artesian well, and in the mountains, you can often see water springing out of the mountain, and people will come and get water from that bubbling spring!  What a treat. But God has given us the greater gift—a living spring —His Son who took on human flesh and blood, who walked among sinners, who revealed God to us, and even more importantly, HE died for our sin on Calvary!  All because HE. loves us!!!  Have you invited Him in!  Have you received that wonderful gift of eternally springing life within you? If you have, won’t you take some time today (every day) to thank Him for this unparalleled gift? Thank YOU, Jesus!!!

“For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world

to condemn the world;

but that the world through him

might be saved.”  John 3:16-17

Jesus gave His life a sacrifice for sin, that we might live! Will you heed His call and thank Him for the love and grace HE poured out at Calvary?

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”  Revelation 3:20. Amen!!!
