Bible Ballistics: BBs #654   Our Protecting Weapon???

 

A word of encouragement on this Friday morning to help us keep our eyes on The Prize—Jesus!

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,

the evidence of things not seen.

6 But without faith

it is impossible to please him:

for he that cometh to God

must believe that he is,

and that he is a rewarder

of them that diligently seek him.”  Hebrews 11:1 & 6

It is our faith that makes the difference—not because we have it, but because of “whom” it is placed in.  You see, faith is only as good as the object in which it is placed; and when our faith is in Jesus it is certain and secure for those who have come to Him in repentance and faith in His sacrifice at Calvary for ‘my’ sin!  It’s all about God and His great gift to us—Jesus.  And as we think of Memorial Day here in the U.S., may we remember the greatest gift of all—Jesus’ substitutionary, atoning sacrifice that all who come to Him may be saved from their sin and have eternal life.  May we ever share the good news as we have opportunity and live a life that agrees with what we profess!

“For whosoever shall call

upon the name of the Lord

shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him

in whom they have not believed?

and how shall they believe in him

of whom they have not heard?

and how shall they hear

without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach,

except they be sent?

as it is written,

How beautiful are the feet of them

that preach the gospel of peace,

and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel.

For Esaias saith,

Lord, who hath believed our report?

17 So then faith cometh by hearing,

and hearing by the word of God.”    Romans 10:13-17

And when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we possess the “shield of faith”—the greatest weapon for it is backed by the God who saves us!

“Above all,

taking the shield of faith,

wherewith ye shall be able to quench

all the fiery darts

of the wicked.”  Ephesians 6:16

So, simply put, let us hold on to our shield and march forward in confidence and devotion to The One who gave Himself for us.

“For God so loved the world,

that he gave

his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have everlasting life.”   John 3:16

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #651      What Day Is This???

 

Just a few words to encourage you today.  May you hear God’s Spirit speaking and lifting you up as you look up to our Redeemer who is coming soon!

“I will praise thee:

for thou hast heard me,

and art become my salvation.

22 The stone which the builders refused

is become the head stone of the corner.

23 This is the LORD’S doing;

it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day which the LORD hath made;

we will rejoice

and be glad in it.”  Psalm 118:21-24

Regardless of the chaos going on around us, I pray that we will keep our eyes fixed on Jesus; remember that our confidence is in our Soon Coming King—not the government, the weatherman, or the circumstances that come against us. These are perilous times, but Jesus is Lord of all!

“And when these things begin to come to pass,

then look up,

and lift up your heads;

for your redemption

draweth nigh.”   Luke 21:28

I pray that you will take heart in the words of our Lord and remember that HE has promised to return!  And HE will!  Are you ready to meet Him?  If not, won’t you call upon Him in repentance and faith today?

“Let not your heart be troubled:

ye believe in God,

believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions:

if it were not so,

I would have told you.

I go

to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go

and prepare a place for you,

I will come again,

and receive you unto myself;

that where I am,

there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know,

and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him,

Lord, we know not whither thou goest;

and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him,

I am the way,

the truth,

and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.”   John 14:1-6

He is knocking at heart’s doors right now.  Please don’t wait—we do not know what today may hold, much less tomorrow.  And as God says, “today is the day of salvation”!  Don’t let it pass you by!

“Behold, I stand at the door,

and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”   Revelation 3:20

He’s waiting, and I’m praying for you today!  Amen and Amen!!!
