A Breath Of God’s ‘Air’??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #95

“Our soul waiteth

for the LORD:

he is our help

and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice

in him,

because we have trusted

in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O LORD,

be upon us,

according as we hope

in thee.”  Psalm 33:20-22

May our hearts be set on The Lord God Almighty, The Son Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit, as we take each step today and each today that God grants to us.  Thank you for your prayers for my arm, it’s much better but not 100% yet. May we keep our eyes “fixed on Jesus”!

“Surely every man walketh

in a vain shew:

surely they are disquieted

in vain:

he heapeth up riches,

and knoweth not who shall gather them.

7 And now, Lord,

what wait I for?

my hope is in thee.

8 Deliver me from all my transgressions:

make me not the reproach of the foolish.”  Psalms 39:6-8

May we pursue God rather than the riches of the world, having the “most toys”, doesn’t gain eternal life, only Jesus saves!

Amen and Amen!!!

How Long Will You Wait??? Bible Ballistics:Vol. 19 NO. 10

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 19 No. 10   How Long Will You Wait???

There is a story in the book of Acts that I want to touch on today, for I think it is so pertinent to the day in which we live—a day much like Felix, Festus, and King Agrippa—curious, but not really wanting to know God or have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, The Son.  Paul had answered Felix the governor of the charges brought against him by the religious leaders, and Felix, being familiar with the situation had allowed Paul to openly respond, and Paul shared Jesus with him/them, and called his accusers into account for the things they accused him of.  Let’s pick jump in and take it on through portions of Acts 24-26!

“And when Felix heard these things,

having more perfect knowledge of that way,

he deferred them,

and said, When Lysias the chief captain

shall come down,

I will know the uttermost

of your matter.

23 And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul,

and to let him have liberty,

and that he should forbid

none of his acquaintance

to minister

or come unto him.

24 And after certain days,

when Felix came with his wife Drusilla,

which was a Jewess,

he sent for Paul,

and heard him

concerning the faith in Christ.

25 And as he reasoned

of righteousness,

temperance,

and judgment to come,

Felix trembled, and answered,

Go thy way for this time;

when I have a convenient season,

I will call for thee.”  Acts 24:22-25

And just to remind us of what Solomon said, “there is no new thing under the sun”—politicians haven’t changed:

“He hoped also that money

should have been given him of Paul,

that he might loose him:

wherefore he sent for him the oftener,

and communed with him.

27 But after two years Porcius Festus came

into Felix’ room:

and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure,

left Paul bound.”  Acts 24:26-27

I think we learn something from Paul, though, even though I’m sure he knew that a little “grease across the palm” could have purchased his freedom, God had already told him that HE had plans for his travels so Paul took every occasion to share the gospel with Felix for some two years.  He didn’t give up, get tired of the rejection, and he didn’t resort to fleshly solutions.   How about us?  How about you?  Are you and I becoming “weary” in “well doing” or are you like Felix and just keep putting Jesus off.  You don’t know how long you have.

“Boast not thyself of to morrow;

for thou knowest not

what a day may bring forth.”  Proverbs 27:1

To make a long story a bit shorter, Paul went through almost the same things with Festus so he appealed (as a Roman citizen, he exercised his right to appear before the emperor rather than the Jewish religious leaders in Jerusalem) to Caesar and in the course of events had the opportunity to speak before King Agrippa, who had heard from Festus about Paul; and it also reminds us that our opportunities aren’t ours to set.

“And he said,

Therefore said I unto you,

that no man can come unto me,

except it were given unto him

of my Father.”  John 6:65

So, as we consider Paul’s encounter with King Agrippa, I think it worthy our examination of our own relationship with Jesus.  What’s your excuse for denying Him?  If you’re HIS, what’s your excuse for not serving HIM now?

“But when Paul had appealed to be reserved

unto the hearing of Augustus,

I commanded him to be kept

till I might send him to Caesar.

22 Then Agrippa said unto Festus,

I would also hear the man myself.

To morrow, said he,

thou shalt hear him.

23 And on the morrow,

when Agrippa was come,

and Bernice,

with great pomp,

and was entered into the place of hearing,

with the chief captains,

and principal men of the city,

at Festus’ commandment

Paul was brought forth.

24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us,

ye see this man, about whom all the multitude

of the Jews have dealt with me,

both at Jerusalem,

and also here,

 crying that he ought not

to live any longer.”  Acts 25:21-24

To continue we see the result of Agrippa’s desire to hear Paul.  After sharing his personal testimony, Agrippa made his famous reply.  Will you stand with Agrippa in rejection or bow in repentance and faith before Jesus, and be born again?

“And as he thus spake for himself,

Festus said with a loud voice,

Paul, thou art beside thyself;

much learning doth make thee mad.

25 But he said,

I am not mad, most noble Festus;

but speak forth the words of truth

and soberness.

26 For the king knoweth of these things,

before whom also I speak freely:

for I am persuaded that none of these things

are hidden from him;

for this thing was not done in a corner.

27 King Agrippa,

believest thou the prophets?

I know that thou believest.

28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul,

Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

29 And Paul said,

I would to God,

that not only thou,

but also all that hear me this day,

were both almost,

and altogether such as I am,

except these bonds.”  Acts 26:24-29

Will you stand with Paul for all of eternity IN JESUS, or will you bow before Jesus in judgment with that said wail: I was “almost persuaded…. but lost”?  I pray that you will hear the voice of God’s call and come to Jesus today!

“…I am the way,

the truth,

and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.”  John 14:6

“Behold,

I stand at the door, and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

 I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”  Revelation 3:20

“(For he saith,

I have heard thee in a time accepted,

and in the day of salvation

have I succoured thee:

behold, now is the accepted time;

behold, now is the day of salvation.)”.   2 Corinthians 6:2

Today may be all we have.

Amen and Amen!!!

Waiting Or Rushing Ahead??? Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 15

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 15  Waiting Or Rushing Ahead???

“Hast thou not known?

hast thou not heard,

that

the everlasting God,

the LORD,

the Creator of the ends of the earth,

fainteth not,

neither is weary?

there is no searching

of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint;

and to them that have no might

he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint

and be weary,

and the young men

shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait

upon the LORD

shall renew

their strength;

they shall mount up

with wings as eagles;

they shall run,

and not be weary;

and they shall walk,

and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:28-31

Oh, that we could learn to “wait upon the LORD” rather than rushing head-long into the fray without any consideration for what God might be doing in our lives.  We seem to have become so enamored of our “instant” society that we fail to know or trust in the provision of our God “In His Time”!  We have been so influenced by the “name-it-and-claim-it” teaching that we have neglected what God says.  I am often amused that we think this is a new teaching, but if you go back to Job, it was what his friends were purporting to this godly man, who, praise God, knew better!  I think it is one of the reasons that Paul reminded us in Romans chapter 8 that in “all things” God is working.  We fail to rest in God’s absolute, sovereign power, and control.  The Psalmist said it powerfully.

“Trust in the LORD,

and do good;

so shalt thou dwell in the land,

and verily thou shalt be fed.

4 Delight thyself also in the LORD;

and he shall give thee the desires

of thine heart.

5 Commit thy way unto the LORD;

trust also in him;

and he shall

bring it to pass.

6 And he shall bring forth

thy righteousness as the light,

and thy judgment as the noonday.

7 Rest in the LORD,

and wait patiently for him:

fret not thyself

because of him

who prospereth in his way,

because of the man

who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8 Cease from anger,

and forsake wrath:

fret not thyself in any wise

to do evil.”  Psalm 37:3-8

I would encourage you to walk through this progression of our spiritual growth and practical trust in our God, who never fails to accomplish HIS purpose in us, even when it requires “spiritual” discipline.  WHAT?  God disciplines?  Yes, God disciplines HIS own; in fact, scripture says if we are without discipline, we better check out who we think saved us!

“And ye have forgotten the exhortation

which speaketh unto you as unto children,

My son,

despise not thou the chastening

of the Lord,

nor faint

when thou art rebuked of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth

he chasteneth,

and scourgeth every son

whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening,

God dealeth with you as with sons;

for what son is he

whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement,

whereof all are partakers,

then are ye bastards,

and not sons.”  Hebrews 12:5-8

And in closing, Jesus Himself gives us the standard; are we producing God’s good works, or our own imitation works, which Jesus calls “iniquity”.

“Wherefore by their fruits

ye shall know them.

21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;

but he that doeth

the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day,

Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?

and in thy name have cast out devils?

and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them,

I never knew you:

depart from me,

ye that work iniquity.”  Matthew 7:20-23

The choice is yours, but choose wisely, there is a test.  And remember, just “saying so, doesn’t make it so”!

“And I saw the dead,

small and great,

stand before God;

and the books were opened:

and another book was opened,

which is the book of life:

and the dead were judged out of those things

which were written in the books,

according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead

which were in it;

and death and hell delivered up the dead

which were in them:

and they were judged every man

according to their works.

14 And death and hell

were cast into the lake of fire.

This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written

in the book of life

was cast into the lake of fire.”    Revelation 20:12-15

Where is your name written???  It matters!

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 07 Cross Only By The Cross!!!

“Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name

under heaven

given among men,

whereby we must be saved.”  Acts 4:12

While many around us today proclaim a gospel of “self-righteousness” and multiple ways to God, the scriptures proclaim the exclusiveness of the CROSS—only One way that was provided by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ The Lord!  We will all cross over that ‘vale of death’ and not to be trite, but as the realtors are known to say—it’s “location, location, location”!  Where will YOU spend eternity?  You can come by the cross and have life or you can refuse the cross and face the fires of hell.  My only confidence is in the Cross of Jesus!

“But God forbid

that I should glory,

save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,

by whom the world is crucified unto me,

and I unto the world.”  Galatians 6:14

Like Paul, we are to cling to the cross—we are to call others to the “only way” to God—not seek, find or claim that there are many “ways” to God!  Jesus said there is only “one way” to The Father!

“Jesus saith unto him,

I am the way,

the truth,

and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.”  John 14:6

And this “one way” who is Jesus, is GOD!  And yes, HE claimed to be GOD!  We must make a choice and either believe in Jesus and who HE claimed to be or deny Who HE IS and go our own way, or someone else’s way!

“My sheep hear my voice,

and I know them,

and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life;

and they shall never perish,

neither shall any man pluck them

out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me,

is greater than all;

and no man is able to pluck them

out of my Father’s hand.

30 I and my Father are one.”  John 10:27-30

Are you HIS sheep?  Have you heard HIS voice—HIS knock at your heart’s door, calling you to repent and believe in HIS sacrifice for your sin?  He has come to give life to those who will follow HIM, yet there will be judgment on those who reject HIM!

“Then said Jesus unto them again,

Verily, verily, I say unto you,

I am the door of the sheep.

8 All that ever came before me

are thieves and robbers:

but the sheep did not hear them.

9 I am the door:

by me if any man enter in,

he shall be saved,

and shall go in and out,

and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not,

but for to steal,

and to kill,

and to destroy:

I am come that they might have life,

and that they might have it more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd:

the good shepherd giveth his life

for the sheep.”  John 10:7-11

Life or death, even as Moses called those whom he led, to choose God and life, or reject him and, in essence, choose death.  It’s your choice, just as it was theirs—what will you choose.  Jesus made it clear to Nicodemus, who came to Him seeking to know truth—Jesus gave it to him, and the message is the same to us today.  What will you do with The Truth—Jesus IS Truth!  Will you seek and know HIM, or will you default to condemnation?

“Jesus answered and said unto him,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born again,

he cannot see

the kingdom of God…

….5 Jesus answered,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born of water

and of the Spirit,

he cannot enter

into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh

is flesh;

and that which is born of the Spirit

is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee,

Ye must be born again…

…..14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent

in the wilderness,

even so must the Son of man

be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world

to condemn the world;

but that the world through him

might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him

is not condemned:

but he that believeth not

is condemned already,

because he hath not believed

in the name

of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation,

that light is come into the world,

and men loved darkness

rather than light,

because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil

hateth the light,

neither cometh to the light,

lest his deeds should be reproved.”                           Portions of John 3:3-20

What have you done with Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross?  Are you depending on ‘religion’ or ‘relationship’?  Jesus longs to have a relationship with YOU!  He died to prove it!

“Behold, I stand at the door,

and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”  Revelation 3:20

 Only the cross will bring “life”—but God has given each of us the choice. What will you do with Him when HE comes knocking at your heart’s door?  I pray that you will hear HIS voice and come and let God bring you new birth?

“He was in the world,

and the world was made by him,

and the world knew him not.

11 He came unto his own,

and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him,

to them gave he power

to become the sons of God,

even to them that believe

on his name:

13 Which were born,

not of blood,

nor of the will of the flesh,

nor of the will of man,

but of God.”  John 1:10-13

We come to Jesus just as we are, in humble repentance and faith, He makes us a new creature, and gives us new life “in Christ”!  What is the world seeing in you?  To whom have you chosen to align yourself?  I pray that it’s Jesus—it’s your choice!  But choose wisely, there is a test.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ,

he is a new creature:

old things are passed away;

behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God,

who hath reconciled us to himself

by Jesus Christ,

and hath given to us the ministry

of reconciliation;

19 To wit,

that God was in Christ,

reconciling the world unto himself,

not imputing their trespasses unto them;

and hath committed unto us

the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ,

as though God did beseech you by us:

we pray you in Christ’s stead,

be ye reconciled to God.

21 For he hath made him

to be sin for us,

who knew no sin;

that we might be made

the righteousness of God

in him.”  2 Corinthians 5:17-21

He took our sin and imparts to us HIS righteousness!  Are you letting HIM shine through you?  May we ever bring glory to our Lord—bearing HIS holiness before a lost and dying world of darkness.  Amen and Amen!!!

“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind,

be sober,

and hope to the end

for the grace that is to be brought

unto you

at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

14 As obedient children,

not fashioning yourselves according

to the former lusts in your ignorance:

15 But as he which hath called you is holy,

so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

16 Because it is written,

Be ye holy;

for I am holy.”  1 Peter 1:13-16
