Exempt??? Ready Or Not? A Word from THE WORD!!! #121

“This know also,

that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be

lovers of their own selves,

covetous,

boasters,

proud,

blasphemers,

disobedient to parents,

unthankful,

unholy, 3

Without natural affection,

trucebreakers,

false accusers,

incontinent,

fierce,

despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors,

heady,

highminded,

lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness,

but denying the power thereof:

from such turn away.

6 For of this sort

are they which creep into houses,

and lead captive silly women

laden with sins,

led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning,

and never able

to come to the knowledge

of the truth.”  2 Timothy 3:1-7

This is one of the most controversial passages in scripture, partly because it is so true, and partly because it is bluntly put and describes people as they are; yet it is hard to get people to not only see the truth, but for the convicting power of The Holy Spirit to get them to recognize the reflection of sin in their own heart mirror!  It’s so basic yet so foreign to what we have watched ‘modernization of the gospel” do to America and the world.  We have come full circle to what Isaiah warned us of.

“Woe unto them

that call evil good,

and good evil;

that put darkness for light,

and light for darkness;

that put bitter for sweet,

and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe unto them

that are wise

in their own eyes,

and prudent

in their own sight!

22 Woe unto them

that are mighty

to drink wine,

and men of strength

to mingle strong drink:

23 Which justify

the wicked

for reward,

and take away

 the righteousness

of the righteous from him!”  Isaiah 5:20-23

God is The One pronouncing judgment here, not Isaiah; he was calling the people to recognize their sin, to repent and turn TO God, or reap the “woe/judgment” of God.  Jesus told those of His own day, the same thing.

“I tell you,

Nay: but, except ye repent,

ye shall all likewise perish…

….5 I tell you,

Nay: but, except ye repent,

ye shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 & 5

Jesus spoke these words to some religious folks who were discussing the death of some in horrific circumstances, implying that ‘they must have sinned’ or they wouldn’t have died, so I’m much better than they were!  Jesus made it clear: “I tell you, Nay”, unless YOU repent of YOUR sin, you shall perish!  Paul sums up the gospel ‘in a nutshell’, if you’d allow me to call it that, for the ‘gospel’ is about “SIN”-for “SIN” is the issue!  And if we don’t deal with our own sin, GOD will.  God gave us salvation in HIS SON!

“Moreover, brethren,

I declare unto you the gospel

which I preached unto you,

which also ye have received,

and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved,

if ye keep in memory what I preached

unto you,

unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all

that which I also received,

how that Christ died for our sins

according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried,

and that he rose again

the third day

according to the scriptures:

5 And that he was seen of Cephas,

then of the twelve:”  1 Corinthians 15:1-5

Jesus clearly reveals to us that ‘saying so’ doesn’t ‘make it so’, but real faith IN JESUS not just playing the game.  Real faith is seeing our own sin, repenting (turning from sin, that God has revealed to our hearts) and clinging in faith to the Redeemer Jesus who died for “MY” sin.  There is no other way!  What are you doing with your sin?  There are no exemptions, every one will either trust in Jesus to save them from their sin or pay for it themselves.

“For all have sinned,

and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely

by his grace

through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation

through faith in his blood,

 to declare his righteousness

for the remission of sins that are past,

through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say,

at this time his righteousness:

that he might be just,

and the justifier

of him which believeth in Jesus.”   Romans 3:23-26

“For the wages of sin is death;

but the gift of God

is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

There is the choice between Jesus’ offer of salvation in John 3 and the judgment of Revelation 20.  Let’s look:

“For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world

to condemn the world;

but that the world through him

might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him

is not condemned:

but he that believeth not

is condemned already,

 because he hath not believed

in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation,

that light is come into the world,

 and men loved darkness

rather than light,

because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that doeth evil

hateth the light,

neither cometh to the light,

lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that doeth truth

cometh to the light,

that his deeds may be made manifest,

that they are wrought in God.”  John 3:16-21

If we choose to stand fast on The Word of God, we will confront opposition, and it is getting worse as the times get closer and closer.  Jesus makes it clear throughout the Gospels, but we seem to have chosen a version of the gospel that is foreign to scripture.  Jesus told us that we would suffer persecution if we stood with HIM.  Where are you standing?  Many today are under attack for standing on Biblical principles with little to no recourse.

“If the world hate you,

ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19 If ye were of the world,

the world would love his own:

but because ye are not of the world,

but I have chosen you out of the world,

therefore the world hateth you.

20 Remember the word that I said unto you,

The servant is not greater than his lord.

If they have persecuted me,

they will also persecute you;

if they have kept my saying,

they will keep yours also.

21 But all these things will they do unto you

for my name’s sake,

because they know not him

that sent me.”  John 15:18-21

“These things have I spoken unto you,

that ye should not be offended.

2 They shall put you out of the synagogues:

yea, the time cometh,

that whosoever killeth you

will think that he doeth God service.

3 And these things will they do unto you,

because they have not known the Father,

nor me.”  John 16:1-3

We need to understand that we are living in days when we have become ‘the enemy’ in many instances, because the Bible has been diminished in value and truth, Jesus has been divested of HIS deity, HIS purpose, and HIS saving power’, we believers are no longer considered valid contributors; yet Jesus warned us that these days would come.  So my question is, ‘Have you come to Jesus in repentance for your sin, placing your faith in HIS substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for sin?’  It’s the only question that will matter when you stand before God, and you will stand before God one day!

“And I saw a great white throne,

and him that sat on it,

from whose face the earth and the heaven

fled away;

and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead,

small and great,

stand before God;

and the books were opened:

and another book was opened,

which is the book of life:

and the dead were judged

out of those things

which were written in the books,

according to their works.

13 And the sea

gave up the dead which were in it;

and death and hell

delivered up the dead which were in them:

and they were judged every man

according to their works.

14 And death and hell

were cast into the lake of fire.

This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written

in the book of life

was cast into the lake of fire.”  Revelation 20:11-15

And Jesus’ statement of truth!

“Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;

but he that doeth the will

of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day,

Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?

and in thy name have cast out devils?

and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them,

I never knew you:

depart from me,

ye that work iniquity.”  Matthew 7:21-23

And in closing Paul’s most beautiful proclamation of Jesus’ worth, authority, and supremacy.  Are you ready for HIM?  Remember there are no exemptions.  Do you know Jesus?  Does HE know YOU?

“Let this mind be in you,

which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God,

thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation,

and took upon him the form of a servant,

and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man,

he humbled himself,

and became obedient unto death,

even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,

and given him a name

which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus

every knee should bow,

of things in heaven,

and things in earth,

and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess

that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father.”     Philippians 2:5-11

The question isn’t “will you bow”; the question is “when will you bow”!  Will you bow before Jesus here and now in repentance and faith to receive HIM as your Lord and Savior, or you will bow before HIM at The Great White Throne of judgment before Judge Jesus, with no recourse for salvation, and receive the due recompense of your sin?

It’s your choice, but choose wisely, there is a test; and Jesus IS coming, ready or not!

Blessings on your week!

Amen and Amen!!!

My Days Are IN HIS HAND!!! A Word from THE WORD!!! #120

Just some encouragement and thought-provoking challenges from God’s Word.  While the days are long and hot where we live, God is ever faithful and HE stands faithful and true in hot or cold, in the ups and downs, in prosperity or poverty, in sorrow or in joy, JESUS IS all we need.

As some of you already know several of my children went through Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast of MS., and some lost everything, yet they survived to press on.  The storm was in early September, and we went down in March of the next hear to visit; when we went to church with my eldest son it was an amazing experience for me, as we went to this small church where over ten of the families (it was a smallish church) lost everything in the ‘surge’ which meant their insurance didn’t pay anything!  Yet, when we sat in the service there was a spirit of hope, confidence, and joy of The Lord.  When I sang in one of the services, I shared a word with our friends there and told them what I saw; this church who had lost so much (their sanctuary had around ten feet of water in it) and so many had lost basically all they had, yet what I saw was a spirit of joy and generosity that warmed and encouraged my heart beyond measure–all because they had found out that when JESUS is all you have, JESUS IS ENOUGH!  As my friend Bro. Scott says, Glory, Glory, Glory!

“If a man die,

shall he live again?

all the days of my appointed time will I wait,

till my change come.”  Job 14:14

“For I know

that my redeemer liveth,

and that he shall stand at the latter day

upon the earth:” Job 19:25

You see my friends–JESUS IS enough!  And I praise HIM for HIS presence, power and purposes working in my life; and while yes, I have failed in big ways, my GOD is a great God, who paid for my sin, failures, and incompetence at Calvary, and HE IS IN me—oh yes, Glory, Glory, Glory!!!  His precious Holy Spirit walks with HIS OWN all the way, each and every day!!!

So, my friend, wherever you are today, God hasn’t moved–HE is there, here, and everywhere in between, and HIS outstretched arms are open wide for you. He hasn’t moved, but perhaps you have!  Look up, walk forward, and trust The ONE who loves you.

“Let your conversation

be without covetousness;

and be content

with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.”  Hebrews 13:5-6

Even if you don’t know JESUS, HE loves you, and HE is calling you to Himself today!  Won’t you answer HIS call and run into the arms that bear the nail prints from my sin and yours!  HE loves YOU!  And if you know HIM and have stumbled, those same arms are outstretched for you!!!  May a blessed day be yours!

“Behold,

I stand at the door,

and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”  Revelation 3:20

Amen and Amen!!!

1 Or 9??? It’s Your Choice! A Word from THE WORD!!! #119

1 Or 9???  It’s Your Choice! A Word from THE WORD!!! #119

I have a simple and brief word for you this morning; will you be a “1” or join in the “9”?  It’s a simple but profound choice that can change your life and affect those around you in amazing ways!  Let’s consider this scripture from Jesus’ life.

“And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem,

that he passed through the midst of Samaria

and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village,

there met him ten men that were lepers,

which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said,

Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them,

Go shew yourselves unto the priests.

And it came to pass, that, as they went,

they were cleansed.

15 And one of them,

when he saw that he was healed,

turned back,

and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 And fell down on his face at his feet,

giving him thanks:

and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said,

Were there not ten cleansed?

but where are the nine?

18 There are not found

that returned to give glory to God,

save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him,

Arise, go thy way:

thy faith hath made thee whole.”  Luke 17:11-19

WOW!!!

Did you get it?  Here’s Jesus, The Son of God, traveling, as was his custom (remember no Uber!), and ten leprous men approach him (at a distance in compliance with the Jewish law of leprosy) and cry out for healing, for they didn’t have any other option, asking for Jesus’ mercy to heal them (now remember He is traveling through Samaria and Galilee).  Of course Jesus extended mercy and healing to them and commanded them to comply with the Law and to go and show themselves to the priest to be ceremonially declared ‘clean’!  So they believed HIS words and ‘took off’ without another word–kind of like we do when God hears and answers our prayers, or moves in some amazing way in our lives, or speaks to us about some particular burden that we have carried for a long time.  So often, we too ‘take off’ without a word!

But one! This ‘one’ came back, “and

with a loud voice

glorified God,

16 And fell down

on his face at his feet,

giving him thanks”

This ‘one’ returned with praise, glory, and ‘thanks-giving’ to Jesus for the healing! And Jesus noticed that there were nine who “didn’t” return! So, simply put, are you a “one” or part of the “nine” who showed no gratitude?

Just a bit of reminder for your consideration:

My Jesus–

My salvation in HIM–

Our family–

Our home–

Our job or work–

          Our children/grandchildren–

Our friends (and they are such a blessing, if you have 1 you’re blessed if you     have more than that you are abundantly blessed.)

My appliances—etc. …..

You continue.

Amen and Amen!!!

A Bible Or A Phone??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #118

Sounds like a conversation that I have with my son on occasion, especially when I go to his church while we are visiting; when the pastor gives the scripture and opens his Bible, I open mine–my son, on the other hand opens up his phone and we have this oft repeated conversation about “that is not a Bible”, and he just smiles, and goes on finding the scripture in his Bible App!  Well, I want to play off of that just a bit this morning, for we live in a “techy” culture, and for an old grandma, I’m pretty ‘techy’ myself–I do love the ‘techy’ stuff and while it often challenges me, I mostly enjoy the intrigue of new apps, downloads and ‘tips’!  I do have a Bible app that I use for quick answers if I’m out and about, but I am totally ‘old-school’ when it comes to Bible reading and Bible study!  I like the feel of pages turning, and I can mark my Bible and it sticks with me better, and yes, I do mark in my Bible, not only notes and cross-references (I’ve been doing my own cross-references for about 30 years and it’s a great learning tool.  When I am reading or studying and read a verse or a passage that seems to go with something else I’ve studied, I go to that passage and cross-reference each to the other.  You’d be surprised at how that helps you remember things that go together!) but observations and insights that come as I’m reading or studying a passage!  I take my notes on paper and write my teaching outlines on paper; I know how much of a page I can fill to teach for an hour.  It’s how I roll, as they say!

But my point for this post is that we need to be careful (especially people like me who are a bit over the top on things!) of our focus.  I have recently removed myself from social media, except for the Bible Ballistics’ postings, for it was consuming too much of my time and energy and I was just too prone to aggravation over so much of what I saw and/or read, even from people I know and love!  You might call it ‘intake overload’!  So, my challenge for each of us today is to consider ‘where does my time go’?  How much time do I spend with Jesus, in the Bible, in personal intercession for others, in pursuing God and a holy lifestyle?  How much time do I spend (for me it was a matter of ‘wasting’ time!) with social media, television, movies, books other than God’s Word, frivolous activities that can mislead or cause others to stumble or fall?  How much time am I devoting to godly pursuits?  When was the last time you “called” someone instead of sending a ‘text’ or an email?  Human voice and touch are still superior to technology!  Let’s see what God says.

“Be not deceived:

evil communications

corrupt good manners.

34 Awake to righteousness,

and sin not;

for some have not the knowledge of God:

I speak this to your shame.” 1 Corinthians 15:33-34

Or as the NASB puts it:

“Do not be deceived:

Bad company corrupts good morals.”

Paul is warning believers that we must guard our hearts, our minds, and our associations; the things we spend time with will affect our behavior.  I learned this years ago in a real and ‘in-your-face’ kind of way.  I was young and away from home and I love mystery books, movies and shows so I was reading Perry Mason mysteries and I found another series by Erle Stanley Gardner about a detective and his lady boss, who had a filthy mouth.  Well, my parents didn’t use bad language and we didn’t associate with many people who did, but this lady detective had a vulgar mouth, and while I didn’t curse then, still don’t, I found myself thinking of those words and phrases when something would go wrong!  Finally, I realized that I was putting those ‘words into’ my heart and mind, and they were trying to come ‘out’!  So, I made the choice to put those books away, and haven’t read them again.  Why, might you ask; if you enjoyed them?  Because just as Paul warned the Corinthian believers, I was allowing “bad company” to “corrupt my good morals”!

This lesson came crashing back into my heart and mind after finding so much foul language and vulgar talk on social media.  I hate seeing “those words” and it is becoming more and more prevalent, even from the mouths (or typing) of people of normally good morals.  If it was wrong “then” it’s still wrong “now”!  It seems some don’t even realize they are speaking like the world, it’s time to consider a change!  God calls us to holiness and not worldly vulgarity, or lewdness–but it is all around us!

“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind,

be sober,

and hope to the end

for the grace that is to be brought unto you

at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

14 As obedient children,

not fashioning yourselves

according to the former lusts

in your ignorance:

15 But as he which hath called you is holy,

so be ye holy

in all manner of conversation;

16 Because it is written,

Be ye holy;

for I am holy.”  1 Peter 1:13-16

God calls us to live holy lives “in all manner of conversation”, referring to our lifestyle not just our speech!  How sad it makes me when I hear people using vulgar expressions, much less the plain, outright ‘down and dirty’ language.  Our language is to reflect our love of and devotion to God, His Word, and HIS ways!

“Walk in wisdom

toward them that are without,

redeeming the time.

6 Let your speech be alway with grace,

seasoned with salt,

that ye may know how ye ought to answer

every man.”  Colossians 4:5-6

In bringing all this together, I pray that we will recognize that technology, social media, television, radio…whatever the device… can be used for good, where possible, and avoided when it is using you to promote and pass along evil!  Are you using the technology, or is it using you?  Are you setting priorities that are godly and for your good as well as the good of those around you?  Is your influence pointing others to Jesus or hell?  Have we made God’s Word a priority? Prayer?  Intercession?  Church attendance (in a Bible believing, Bible preaching church–and they are becoming harder to find, as Satan’s influence is pervading even the church) and not just attendance but participation.  Are your priorities leading others to the cross or to hell?  And regardless of how we justify it or excuse our behavior, language, or actions, there are little feet, eyes and ears coming along behind us; and may we all remember that they are paying attention to what we “do” more than what we “say” we believe!

Jesus/God has given us the call to follow HIM in all our ways, and the best “way” to do that is to be filled with HIS Spirit and HIS Word!  It’s your choice, but choose wisely, there is a test!

“This I say then,

Walk in the Spirit,

and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh…

…. 24 And they that are Christ’s

have crucified the flesh

with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit,

let us also walk in the Spirit.

26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory,

provoking one another,

envying one another.”  Galatians 5:16 & 24-26

Finally Paul’s great call to his son-in-the-ministry, as well as a call to each of us–to set God’s Word as a priority!  Are you using your phone more than God’s Word?  Check it out! Are you “vainly babbling” or standing “unashamed” before your Lord?

“Study to shew thyself approved

unto God,

a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,

rightly dividing

the word of truth.

16 But shun

Profane

and vain babblings:

for they will increase

unto more ungodliness.”  2 Timothy 2:15-16

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus

shall suffer persecution.

13 But evil men and seducers

shall wax worse and worse,

deceiving,

and being deceived.

14 But continue thou in the things

which thou hast learned

and hast been assured of,

knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15 And that from a child

thou hast known the holy scriptures,

which are able to make thee wise unto salvation

through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God,

and is profitable

for doctrine,

for reproof,

for correction,

for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect,

throughly furnished unto all good works.”  2 Timothy 3:12-17.

Amen and Amen!!!

Enabler Or Transformer??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #117

I would like to take our time today to address something that I have pondered this week due to a conversation I had recently; was Jesus an enabler?  It has weighed on my mind as I just couldn’t justify that thought with what I know scripture to reveal about my Lord and Savior, so I’d just like to share a few scriptures on that idea.  Jesus IS a transformer of lives by HIS blood, while yes, HE forgives our sins, HE doesn’t condone or ever enable saved people to continue to sin unchecked.  The lost also have a checking, but that judgment will come later, unless they turn to Jesus in repentance and faith in HIS substitutionary, atoning sacrifice!

The first passage I want us to consider is the account of the woman caught in adultery; when she was brought to Jesus and accused by the religious leaders, Jesus simply stooped down and wrote in the dirt.  What did He write?  I don’t know, but I do know that His silence in response to their fevered accusations against the woman seems to have evoked a change of heart (and it’s interesting that they brought the woman and not the man, just saying).  So here’s the ‘rest of her story’!

“Now Moses in the law commanded us,

that such should be stoned:

but what sayest thou?

6 This they said, tempting him,

that they might have to accuse him.

But Jesus stooped down,

and with his finger wrote on the ground,

as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him,

he lifted up himself,

and said unto them,

He that is without sin among you,

let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down,

and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it,

being convicted by their own conscience,

went out one by one,

beginning at the eldest,

even unto the last:

and Jesus was left alone,

and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself,

and saw none but the woman, he said unto her,

Woman, where are those thine accusers?

hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said,

No man, Lord.

And Jesus said unto her,

Neither do I condemn thee:

go,

and sin no more.

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying,

I am the light of the world:

he that followeth me

shall not walk in darkness,

but shall have the light of life.”   John 8:5-12

While Jesus told the woman to “go and sin no more”, He didn’t condemn her, but called her to righteous living rather than the sin she had been caught in.  He also went on to define those who follow HIM as those who will “not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”! JESUS!

There is an account of Jesus granting forgiveness to one of His own followers, the disciple Peter–the one who denied Him at His trial leading up to the crucifixion! I won’t list the account of Peter’s failure, but when he knew that what Jesus had told him about denying HIM had happened–that he had failed, he went out weeping (and I believe repentant).  But the Risen Lord didn’t leave it there; He came to Peter (just like He will come to each of us who call HIM LORD, no not in person, but by the power of the voice of the precious Holy Spirit speaking to my heart and yours), for restoration and a task.  Salvation transforms lives, it doesn’t just cover up sin with a religious smile!

Jesus didn’t leave Peter in a fallen state but restored HIM through forgiveness and an empowering commission.  And I believe when you search through scripture, you’ll find it’s almost always the case; and while we won’t take the time today to look at them, there are many accounts of God’s own going to far and facing an early judgment.  The Apostle John talks about a ‘sin unto death’ and this has to be for believers, for the lost are already spiritually dead.  We can keep ourselves close to our Lord, or we can fall into a state of spiritual failure, from where we can still call on Jesus to forgive and cleanse us (See 1 John 1:9).  Yet if we continually disregard God’s Word, call and work in our hearts and minds, HE says HE can take us home before our time.  It’s why we are to encourage one another to live holy, sharing truth as we have the opportunity. (And note Jesus says HE will do the judging and moving (not us), for HE will not enable our sin and failure to continue unchecked.)

“If any man see his brother sin a sin

which is not unto death,

he shall ask,

and he shall give him life

for them that sin not unto death.

There is a sin unto death:

I do not say that he shall pray for it.

17 All unrighteousness is sin:

and there is a sin not unto death.

18 We know that whosoever is born of God

sinneth not;

but he that is begotten of God

keepeth himself,

and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19 And we know that we are of God,

and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

20 And we know that the Son of God is come,

and hath given us an understanding,

that we may know him that is true,

and we are in him that is true,

even in his Son Jesus Christ.

This is the true God, and eternal life.”  1 John 5:16-20

We can choose to walk in The Light, and God will keep us safe from the enemy, but if we choose to wander, there is always a consequence.  Hebrews 12 is very clear about God’s relationship with we who are HIS own.  As I have often taught openly and shared privately as well–if you can sin without regard, then you better check out what you think saved you.  Jesus won’t allow HIS own to go unchecked, there is godly, Holy Spirit discipline toward the redeemed.

“And ye have forgotten the exhortation

which speaketh unto you as unto children,

My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord,

nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth,

and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening,

God dealeth with you as with sons;

for what son is he

whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement,

whereof all are partakers,

then are ye bastards,

and not sons.”  Hebrews 12:5-8

Jesus will never be an “enabler”, but are we choosing to walk close to our Lord, or wander off in the dark?  It’s your choice but remember there is a test, and HE disciplines HIS own (and the Greek word for chastening here, is a word that means all that is included in ‘child training’ not just corporal punishment)!

I pray this will help enlighten us to understand that God is ever at work in HIS own, and we are to pursue holiness and purity; and if we miss the mark (which we all do) God will correct us and restore us as needed.  I’m so grateful for HIS grace that forgives, heals, and restores.  It’s why I’m still here.  How about you?

“If we confess our sins,

he is faithful and just

to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us

from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1:9

Amen and Amen!!!
