Trusting In The Dark!!! A Word from THE WORD!!! #444

“Unto the upright

there ariseth light in the darkness:

he is gracious,

and full of compassion,

and righteous.

5 A good man

sheweth favour,

and lendeth:

he will guide his affairs with discretion.

6 Surely he shall not be moved for ever:

the righteous

shall be in everlasting remembrance.

7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings:

his heart is fixed,

trusting in the LORD.” Psalm 112:4-7

As children many of us were afraid of the dark, and sometimes that fear carried over into adulthood.  I’m not fond of the dark, except when I’m trying to view the stars or a lunar event, but I’m not consumed with fear either, mostly because I know The God who created all things, and I know He is with me no matter the time of day or my circumstances.  And of late I have found God so faithful in every time or circumstance, and I just what us to rehearse today the surety of our God no matter where we may find ourselves.  The Psalmist reassures us that our confidence can rest in God Almighty and His Son, Jesus!  We can rest in the assurance of verse 7 above: “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.”

Oh, how I have come to know that assurance in new and welcome ways.  He has walked with me in recent days, in new ways—ways that I never have experienced before—yet my God is totally faithful and trustworthy.  Even as the author of Hebrews reminds us!

“Let your conversation

be without covetousness;

and be content

with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.”  Hebrews 13:5-6

Another powerful passages from the book of Hebrews—one which I can confidently share with others and often do.

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens,

Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched

with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted

like as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto

the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help

in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:14-16

Our Lord carried our sin to Calvary, for He had no sin of His own, but He paid for my sin, and the sin for all who will come to Him in repentance and faith in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for sin—mine and yours!  What an awesome love that would do that for sinners like me!

I also want to share another great passage from Daniel that amazingly describes the nature of our God!  He has it all in hand—even when we can’t see in the dark.  I pray that this will speak encouragement to your heart as it has mine so many times.

“Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel

in a night vision.

Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

20 Daniel answered and said,

Blessed be the name of God

for ever and ever:

for wisdom and might are his:

21 And he changeth

the times and the seasons:

he removeth kings,

and setteth up kings:

he giveth wisdom

unto the wise,

and knowledge

to them that know understanding:

22 He revealeth the deep

and secret things:

he knoweth

what is in the darkness,

and the light

dwelleth with him.

23 I thank thee, and praise thee,

O thou God of my fathers,

who hast given me wisdom and might,

and hast made known unto me now

what we desired of thee:

for thou hast now made known unto us

the king’s matter.”  Daniel 2:19-23

Blessings on your day!

Amen and Amen!!!
