Mouth, Words, Meditation?  A Word from THE WORD!!! #431

Just a brief (maybe) word of encouragement and a reminder to keep our eyes on the prize—Jesus and HIS Word!

“Who can understand his errors?

cleanse thou me from secret faults.

13 Keep back thy servant also

from presumptuous sins;

let them not have dominion over me:

then shall I be upright,

and I shall be innocent

from the great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth,

and the meditation of my heart,

be acceptable in thy sight,

O LORD,

my strength, and my redeemer.”  Psalm 19:12-14

Jesus made it plain that words matter!

“O generation of vipers,

how can ye,

being evil,

speak good things?

for out of the abundance of the heart

the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man

out of the good treasure of the heart

bringeth forth good things:

and an evil man

out of the evil treasure

bringeth forth evil things.”  Matthew 12:34-35

And Jesus said again in Matthew 15.

“Do not ye yet understand,

that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth

goeth into the belly,

and is cast out into the draught?

18 But those things which proceed

out of the mouth

come forth from the heart;

and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts,

murders,

adulteries,

fornications,

thefts,

false witness,

blasphemies:

20 These are the things

which defile a man:

but to eat with unwashen hands

     defileth not a man.” Matthew 15:17-20

And in closing, again we’ll go to the Psalms, and I encourage you to set this as a passage that you will pray each day!  As we pray and seek God’s face, HE will be found, and you CAN overcome your failures and find restoration in Jesus.  And the bottom line is, HE knows anyway even when we are in denial.

“Search me, O God,

and know my heart:

try me,

and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24
