I Deserve Hell??? You???  A Word from THE WORD!!! #141

I have an important word this evening, and I pray that it will be received where it is needed, for without Jesus, there is no hope!  There is no salvation! But if we never see our sin, we’ll never need a Savior!  Where are you today?  Religious?  Self-righteous? Self-sufficient? Without any need?  Jesus said that without repentance we will perish; so I’d like to share some of the words of Jesus that warn us that we need Jesus, and there is no other solution to our SIN problem, and we all have one!  If you think you don’t have sin, then you will leave this world without a Savior, a Redeemer.

“Enter ye in at the strait gate:

for wide is the gate,

and broad is the way,

that leadeth to destruction,

and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate,

and narrow is the way,

which leadeth unto life,

and few there be that find it…

….21 Not every one that saith unto me,

Lord, Lord,

shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;

but he that doeth

the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day,

Lord, Lord,

have we not prophesied in thy name?

and in thy name have cast out devils?

and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them,

I never knew you:

depart from me,

ye that work iniquity.” Parts/Matthew 7:13-23

Jesus also makes it clear that ‘repentance’ is essential to salvation, because if we see no need of repentance, it’s likely that we do not see our sin, or the need to repent of our sin and trust and believe in Jesus’ substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for MY sin!

“I tell you, Nay:

but, except ye repent,

ye shall all likewise perish…

…. 5 I tell you, Nay:

but, except ye repent,

ye shall all likewise perish.”   Luke 13:3 & 5

Our salvation is why Jesus came!  Will you receive HIM?

“And she shall bring forth a son,

and thou shalt call his name JESUS:

for he shall save his people

from their sins.”  Matthew 1:21

Also, Jesus promises to keep those who come to HIM in this same repentance and faith!

“All that the Father giveth me

shall come to me;

and him that cometh to me

I will in no wise cast out.

38 For I came down from heaven,

not to do mine own will,

but the will of him

that sent me.

39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me,

that of all which he hath given me

I should lose nothing,

but should raise it up again

at the last day.

40 And this is the will of him that sent me,

that every one which seeth the Son,

and believeth on him,

may have everlasting life:

and I will raise him up

at the last day.”  John 6:37-40

In this same vein, Paul paints an amazing picture of why salvation is dependent upon our recognition of sin, repentance, and faith in JESUS!

“For all have sinned,

and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely

by his grace

through the redemption

that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth

to be a propitiation

through faith in his blood,

to declare his righteousness

for the remission of sins

that are past,

through the forbearance

of God;” Romans 3:23-25

“For the wages of sin

is death;

but the gift of God

is eternal life

through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Romans 6:23

 While I know that I have broached this subject on numerous times, it is the one thing in this life that is truly “all that matters”!  So I’ll keep repeating it until all have heard!

“For I am not ashamed

of the gospel of Christ:

for it is the power of God

unto salvation

to every one that believeth;

to the Jew first,

and also to the Greek.”  Romans 1:16

And as Peter proclaimed with boldness—may we also be bold in our call to salvation!

“Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name under heaven

given among men,

whereby we must be saved.”  Acts 4:12

I pray that you will examine your heart today; have you received The Redeemer?  Or do you plan on taking care of your own sin; there are only two options—Salvation IN JESUS, or hell for those who reject HIM.

It’s your choice but choose wisely there is a test, and HIS name is JESUS!!!

Whose Day Is It??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #128

“I will praise thee:

for thou hast heard me,

and art become my salvation.

22 The stone which the builders refused

is become the head stone of the corner.

23 This is the LORD’S doing;

it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day

which the LORD hath made;

we will rejoice

and be glad in it.”  Psalm 118:21-243

Most are familiar with verse 24 of this Psalm, for this IS the DAY that God has made, and HE has given it to us to use to praise HIM, to use to HIS glory, but also to remember all that HE has done for us IN JESUS!   I don’t know that I’ve ever read these verses with this particular context in mind, but it is amazing how God speaks to us in unique ways, and at unexpected times and places, and I am so glad that HE does!  For as I sit here writing this article, I just praise HIM so much for this day–for HIS sweet presence, and HIS love, grace and mercy showered down on me/us!

We’ve been traveling and had some time with friends and family but had to come home a bit earlier than we had planned, but you see, God’s plans are always the ones that we want–even the seemingly ‘untimely’ things!  We had a safe trip but a longer than expected drive, and yet Jesus led our way, and we praise HIM for each day; for you see, it’s all about the love of Jesus which leads and directs our steps, and as we pursue HIM in all of our ways, ever remembering the “Lamb of God who takesth away the sin of the world”!  Yet, we also want to remember and tie together the references to Jesus, who was not only “The Lamb of God”, but HE is also the “stone which the builders refused”!  This precious Lamb came to be the “cornerstone” of our salvation–HE came to die for you and me!

But we don’t want to miss the reference to this being GOD’S PLAN!  I have often had people ask me about the New Testament and how it is the picture of God’s plan “B” since plan “A”, the law, had failed; to which I almost cry out loud…”no, no, no”!  God has never had a plan “B”, HIS plan has always been Jesus–Calvary–and praise HIS name, the Resurrection of JESUS Christ my Lord!!  Oh, glory, glory, glory!  Ain’t God good?  Yes, HE is! This is what the Psalmist is proclaiming–don’t miss it:

“This is the LORD’S doing;

it is marvellous in our eyes”!

The Apostles confirmed this truth as they proclaimed the Gospel on the Day of Pentecost.  Please don’t miss the beauty that the Psalmist was proclaiming all those hundreds of years before it took place.  Not an accident, or coincidence, or even ‘fate’–no, my friends, it was the “determinate counsel…of God” that planned the amazing work of salvation for you and me!!!  The plan that cost God His Son pouring out HIS precious blood on a cruel Roman cross!  Love ran red down through time for you and me–to TODAY!!!

“Ye men of Israel, hear these words;

Jesus of Nazareth,

a man approved of God among you

by miracles

and wonders

and signs,

which God did by him

in the midst of you,

as ye yourselves also know:

23 Him,

being delivered

by the determinate counsel

and foreknowledge

of God,

ye have taken,

and by wicked hands have crucified

and slain:

24 Whom God hath raised up,

having loosed the pains of death:

because it was not possible

that he should be holden of it.”  Acts 2:22-24                         (And it will bless your heart to read through this entire chapter!)

I pray that you will heed the call of God on your heart!  Don’t miss the “cornerstone” by disregard or neglect, HE came to save “whosoever believeth on HIM”; not with just lip service but true repentance from my sin/your sin, and faith/trust in Jesus’ substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for that sin!  So, in closing, just a few scriptures that paint a wonderful picture of what our Redeemer did for us through HIS precious blood!

“And from Jesus Christ,

who is the faithful witness,

and the first begotten of the dead,

and the prince of the kings of the earth.

Unto him that loved us,

and washed us from our sins

in his own blood,” Revelation 1:5

“Elect according to the foreknowledge

of God the Father,

through sanctification of the Spirit,

unto obedience

and sprinkling of the blood

of Jesus Christ:

Grace unto you,

and peace, be multiplied.

3 Blessed be the God and Father

of our Lord Jesus Christ,

which according to his abundant mercy

hath begotten us again

unto a lively hope

by the resurrection of Jesus Christ

from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible,

and undefiled,

and that fadeth not away,

reserved in heaven

for you,” 1 Peter 1:2-4

“But if we walk in the light,

as he is in the light,

we have fellowship one with another,

and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son

cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

May we rejoice in each “today” that God grants you and me; may we bring joy to others, glory to God, and sing His praises for “THIS DAY” that HE has made for us!  I pray that you find HIS joy and peace sufficient for your every need.  He has NEVER let me down, even though I have failed HIM again and again….  I thank HIM for His faithfulness no matter the circumstances.

“Let your conversation be without covetousness;

and be content with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.”  Hebrews 13:5-6

Trust HIM–HE made the day–and HE MADE YOU!!!  And as a preacher friend of mine says, “God never says, “OOOPS”!

Hell’s Real, Hot and Eternal??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #116

Hell’s real, Hell’s hot, and Eternity is long!  The choice is yours, but the consequence of your choice is already set!

“But ye are not in the flesh,

but in the Spirit,

if so be that the Spirit of God

dwell in you.

Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ,

he is none of his.”  Romans 8:9

The presence of the indwelling Holy Spirit is the New Covenant which Jesus Christ purchased at Calvary; and Paul makes it clear that if “any” person who claims the name of Jesus but doesn’t have The Holy Spirit, “he is none of his”! Are you HIS?  Do you have HIS Holy Spirit?  There is only one way to be HIS and to possess The Holy Spirit (or more correctly to have The Holy Spirit possess you!), and that is to be born again by the blood of Jesus!  I could list scripture upon scripture to show this truth, but I’ll settle for 3 that I pray will help you see JESUS, and come to Him in repentance of your sin, and faith in HIS substitutionary, atoning sacrifice!  No magic words, formula prayers, or church membership will save you–only trusting in God’s grace through faith to deliver you in response to the voice of The Holy Spirit calling you to HIM!

“Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name under heaven

given among men,

whereby we must be saved.”  Acts 4:10

“Jesus saith unto him,

I am the way,

the truth,

and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.”  John 14:6

“No man can come to me,

except the Father which hath sent me draw him:

and I will raise him up at the last day.”  John 6:44

Jesus gave us one of the most beautiful yet sad pictures of the reality of eternal life-vs-eternal death, and I’d like to share it today.  And just my personal note, I think this is a real story that Jesus told, for He never named a real person in any of His parables!  I also believe that He didn’t name the “rich man” because the people would have recognized it if He had (just my opinion, you decide what you see.). And just a little test for you, this is not long before Jesus’ death, so which part of this story would make even more sense and be of an even more staggering truth with that in mind? (Hint: it’s close to the end! And it’s still true today!)

“There was a certain rich man,

which was clothed in purple and fine linen,

and fared sumptuously every day:

20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus,

which was laid at his gate,

full of sores,

21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs

which fell from the rich man’s table:

moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 And it came to pass,

that the beggar died,

and was carried by the angels

into Abraham’s bosom:

the rich man also died,

and was buried;

23 And in hell he lift up his eyes,

being in torments,

and seeth Abraham afar off,

and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said,

Father Abraham,

have mercy on me,

and send Lazarus,

that he may dip the tip of his finger

in water,

and cool my tongue;

for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said,

Son, remember that thou

in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things,

and likewise Lazarus

evil things:

but now he is comforted,

and thou art tormented.

26 And beside all this,

between us and you there is a great gulf

fixed: so that they which would pass

from hence to you cannot;

neither can they pass to us,

that would come from thence.

27 Then he said,

I pray thee therefore, father,

that thou wouldest send him

to my father’s house:

28 For I have five brethren;

that he may testify unto them,

lest they also come into this place

of torment.

29 Abraham saith unto him,

They have Moses and the prophets;

let them hear them.

30 And he said,

Nay, father Abraham:

but if one went unto them from the dead,

they will repent.

31 And he said unto him,

If they hear not Moses and the prophets,

neither will they be persuaded,

though one rose from the dead.”  Luke 17:19-31

I pray that you will hear the voice of Jesus today, and that if you don’t know HIM yet, you will bow before Him today and call on HIM for forgiveness of your sin, and salvation/eternal life that HE paid for at Calvary!  If you know HIM and aren’t living for HIM or in HIS power, I pray that you will see eternity all around you.  How many that we love are headed for hell?  What have you and I done to share Jesus’ truth with them?  Let’s get busy, for surely Hell IS real, Hell IS hot, and eternity IS forever, with no second chances! And just a side note, here we see the greatest evangelist of all time, this rich man was more concerned about his family left behind than we often are!  You decide, when will you share the Gospel of Jesus?
