Bible Ballistics: BBs #776   Close But Yet So Far???

We talked recently about recognizing God’s truth, and I’d like us to revisit that thought with a bit of a twist.

“Have ye not known?

have ye not heard?

hath it not been told you

from the beginning?

 have ye not understood

from the foundations of the earth?”   Isaiah 40:21

Isaiah called his people to examine themselves and see what they had done with the truths of God.  That question is still pertinent for us today, in fact possibly even more urgent than it was back then, for we have spent so much time diminishing the import of The Word of God, perverting what God has said, and changing the truth for lies of convenience.  In fact, we have done the same thing that Israel had done during Isaiah’s day.

“Woe unto them

that call evil good,

and good evil;

that put darkness

for light,

and light

for darkness;

that put bitter

for sweet,

and sweet

for bitter!

21 Woe unto them

that are wise

 in their own eyes,

and prudent

in their own sight!

22 Woe unto them

that are mighty

to drink wine,

and men of strength

to mingle strong drink:

23 Which justify the wicked

for reward,

and take away the righteousness

of the righteous from him!”   Isaiah 5:20-23

Woe is a strong word from God, and we need to be paying attention, whether we are genuine believers or those who claim the name of One they don’t know.  We find one of the most important warnings to both in the story of Samuel and Eli (the high priest).  If you remember, Samuel was the young son of answered prayer that Hannah received from God. She then gave him back to God for HIS service; when he was weaned, she took him to Eli as a servant of the tabernacle (the temple wasn’t built at the time)! Without listing all of the scriptures in this story, let’s peruse some of the highlights and see the danger of not walking “close” to our Lord, and thinking disobedience and neglect are OK.

“Now Hannah,

she spake in her heart; only her lips moved,

but her voice was not heard:

therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

14 And Eli said unto her,

How long wilt thou be drunken?

put away thy wine from thee.”   1 Samuel 1:13-14

This portion of the story is important to understand the outcome; Eli rebuked Hannah because he thought she was ‘drunk’, yet she was only deeply in tune with God in prayer for a child.  Eli missed what was going on, and Hannah had to correct him, and then he blessed her for her obvious devotion to seek God for her needs.  God did answer her prayer and when the time came, she returned the child Samuel to serve God for a lifetime. It would seem that Eli judged her by the standard of his sons.  In time God spoke to Samuel and called him into his service with a message of “woe” to Eli, and the reason makes what happened with Hannah, most ironic, puzzling, and very insightful as a lesson we should learn from.

“And she said,

Oh my lord,

as thy soul liveth, my lord,

I am the woman that stood by thee here,

praying unto the LORD.

27 For this child I prayed;

and the LORD hath given me my petition

which I asked of him:

28 Therefore also

I have lent him to the LORD;

as long as he liveth

he shall be lent to the LORD.

And he worshipped the LORD there.”  1 Samuel 1:26-28

Hannah came to worship, as Samuel began his service to God, and when God called him personally, he replied in obedience to a hard task.  Yet Eli, on the other hand, was unwilling to correct his sons, who were reprobate before God, and he knew what they were doing!

“Now Eli was very old,

and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel;

and how they lay with the women that

assembled at the door of the

tabernacle of the congregation

23 And he said unto them,

Why do ye such things?

for I hear of your evil dealings

by all this people.

24 Nay, my sons;

for it is no good report that I hear:

ye make the LORD’S people

to transgress.

25 If one man sin against another,

the judge shall judge him:

but if a man sin against the LORD,

who shall intreat for him?

Notwithstanding they hearkened not

unto the voice of their father,

because the LORD would slay them.

26 And the child Samuel grew on,

and was in favour both with the LORD,

and also with men.”  1 Samuel 2:22-26

Eli understood the principles of ‘obedient leadership’ but apparently not enough to deal with his own sons’ immoral and wicked behavior.  The New Testament confirms the call of obedience for all.

“And that servant,

which knew his lord’s will,

and prepared not himself,

neither did according to his will,

shall be beaten with many stripes.

48 But he that knew not,

and did commit things worthy of stripes,

shall be beaten with few stripes.

For unto whomsoever much is given,

of him shall be much required:

and to whom men have committed much,

of him they will ask the more.

49 I am come to send fire on the earth;

and what will I,

if it be already kindled?”  Luke 12:47-49

“My brethren,

be not many masters,

knowing that we shall receive

the greater condemnation.”   James 3:1

Eli had been given the title, the privilege, and the responsibility for the spiritual welfare of Israel, yet he didn’t even take care of the spiritual welfare of his own family.  Now, don’t misunderstand—we can instruct, train, and set a good example before our children and family, but as adults, each person is responsible for his/her own choices.  In fact, scripture says even children are accountable.

“Even a child is known by his doings,

whether his work be pure,

and whether it be right.”  Proverbs 20:11

But Eli was not just a parent, he was the high priest, and his sons were also priests by Gods’ call to the sons of Aaron, as spiritual leaders to Israel.  But Eli apparently did not take his responsibility seriously enough, and was allowing his sons to behave immorally, with complete disregard to the import of God’s instructions for the sacrificial system and its use in building a relationship to God, and yet he did nothing!  God’s Word settles it!

“So then every one of us

shall give account

of himself to God.”  Romans 14:12

God gave Samuel a heavy load for his first commission, and he proved faithful, for God had already been preparing Eli for the coming accounting!

“Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith,

I said indeed that thy house,

and the house of thy father,

should walk before me for ever:

but now the LORD saith,

Be it far from me;

for them that honour me

I will honour,

and they that despise me

shall be lightly esteemed.

31 Behold, the days come,

that I will cut off thine arm,

and the arm of thy father’s house,

that there shall not be an old man

in thine house.

32 And thou shalt see an enemy

in my habitation,

in all the wealth

which God shall give Israel:

and there shall not be an old man

in thine house for ever.

33 And the man of thine,

whom I shall not cut off from mine altar,

shall be to consume thine eyes,

and to grieve thine heart:

and all the increase of thine house

shall die in the flower of their age.

34 And this shall be a sign unto thee,

that shall come upon thy two sons,

on Hophni and Phinehas;

in one day they shall die

both of them.

35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest,

that shall do according to that

which is in mine heart

and in my mind:

and I will build him a sure house;

and he shall walk before mine anointed

for ever.”  1 Samuel 2:30-35

A previous prophet gave a warning to Eli, then God sent Samuel—I think not only for Eli, but for Samuel to know that he was being called by God to lead Israel back to Himself, to restore truth and God’s presence before them.

“Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD,

neither was the word of the LORD

yet revealed unto him…

…..8 And the LORD called Samuel

again the third time.

And he arose and went to Eli,

 and said, Here am I;

for thou didst call me.

And Eli perceived that the LORD

 had called the child.

9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel,

Go, lie down:

and it shall be,

if he call thee,

that thou shalt say,

Speak, LORD;

for thy servant heareth.

So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called

as at other times,

Samuel, Samuel.

Then Samuel answered,

Speak; for thy servant heareth.

11 And the LORD said to Samuel,

Behold, I will do a thing in Israel,

at which both the ears

of every one that heareth it

shall tingle.

12 In that day

I will perform against Eli all things

which I have spoken

concerning his house:

when I begin,

I will also make an end.

13 For I have told him

that I will judge his house for ever

for the iniquity which he knoweth;

because his sons

made themselves vile,

and he restrained them not.

14 And therefore I have sworn

unto the house of Eli,

that the iniquity of Eli’s house

shall not be purged

with sacrifice

nor offering

 for ever.”   1 Samuel 3:8-14

What a heavy load for a young boy, but God reminds us of the sufficiency of HIS provision.

“I know both how to be abased,

and I know how to abound:

every where

 and in all things

I am instructed both to be full

and to be hungry,

 both to abound

and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things

through Christ

which strengtheneth me.”   Philippians 4:12-13

While Samuel’s task was a difficult one, he pressed on with respect for Eli, and regard for the message of God.  We can learn a lot from these two men of God—one drew near to God as He heard His voice—the other had allowed his own permissiveness toward his children to cause him to fail his God!  Yet, I do believe God allowed him to ‘redeem’ some of the time he had wasted, to have a second chance with Samuel—a chance to make a difference in this young boy’s life—and it would seem that he used it wisely and set an example of humble submission to the judgment of God!  How about you and me?  How do we respond to the call of God, and/or his judgment and discipline?  Samuel revealed the truth of God to Eli—I believe with a broken heart, but a humble, submissive heart that spoke the truth in love!

“And Samuel told him every whit,

 and hid nothing from him.

And he said,

It is the LORD:

let him do what seemeth him good.

19 And Samuel grew,

and the LORD was with him,

and did let none of his words

fall to the ground.

20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba

knew that Samuel was established

to be a prophet of the LORD.

21 And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh:

for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel

in Shiloh

by the word of the LORD.”   I Samuel 4:18-21

So, my question for each of us today is, are we so compromised that we have missed the task that Jesus has called us to, or are you one who talks about the master but doesn’t know HIM personally?  The choice is yours, and truly there is a test.  Are you walking in God’s “way”—Jesus (See John 14:6)?  Or are you choosing to go your own way as Eli’s sons did.  Or maybe you’re a parent who has failed to correct and lead your children to know and do God’s truth. There is a word for each of us if we will but heed the message God is speaking to our hearts.

“There is a way that seemeth right unto a man,

but the end thereof

are the ways of death.”  Proverbs 16:25

“So then every one of us shall give account

of himself to God.”  Romans 14:12

Will your account be that of one drawn close to the Father, or have you walked so far away that you have lost sight of God and His truth, or never really known HIM?  I join with Joshua even today!  How about you?

“And if it seem evil unto you

to serve the LORD,

choose you this day

whom ye will serve;

whether the gods

which your fathers served

that were on the other side of the flood,

or the gods of the Amorites,

 in whose land ye dwell:

but as for me and my house,

we will serve the LORD.”  Joshua 24:15

Paul sums it up concisely:

“That we henceforth be no more children,

tossed to and fro,

and carried about

with every wind of doctrine,

by the sleight of men,

and cunning craftiness,

whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 But speaking the truth in love,

may grow up into him in all things,

which is the head, even Christ:”   Ephesians 4:14-15

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #766   The Whole Armor Examined???

I would like us to look at Paul’s admonition to “put on the whole armour of God”, and hopefully be encouraged to ‘suit up’ and prepare ourselves for the things that God is calling us to be, and do, as we “withstand in the evil day”! I pray that God will speak to your heart—for may it ever be HIS message, not mine!

“Finally,—in conclusion of all the previous instructions-

 Colossians 3:16

  Philippians 4:8

my brethren,–The born again, transformed children of God—

John 3:3, 5-6

John 1:12-13

Revelation 12:11

be strong—we are called to be strong not weak—

2 Samuel 22:33

in the Lord,

and in the power of his might.—our strength isn’t our own, but totally of God, as we yield to and depend upon Father, Son and Holy Spirit daily, step by step–

1 Corinthians 4:20

Acts 1:8

Job 36:22

Psalm 147:5

Matthew 9:6

1 Corinthians 1:18

11 Put on the whole armour of God,–PUT IT ON—ALL OF IT—EVERY DAY—walk, serve, minister in it—

2 Corinthians 6:1-10

1 Thessalonians 5:8

Romans 13:12-14

**Galatians 3:27**

**Ephesians 4:24**

Colossians 3:12-14

that ye may be able to stand—ABLE to stand by God’s power and to HIS glory in all we do (suited up) no matter what others do—

Jeremiah 6:16

Romans 5:1-2

1 Corinthians 2:5

1 Corinthians 10:12

1 Corinthians 15:1-5

Philippians 4:1

against the wiles of the devil.—we have an enemy, a trickster, a deceiver, a liar who seeks to “steal… kill… and to destroy…”. We must be vigilant and AWARE—

1 Peter 5:8-9

John 8:44

Ezekiel 28:1-6

Isaiah 14:12-15

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,—our battle isn’t against the people around us but the unseen forces at work continually around us. Don’t set your heart against people but keep your eyes “fixed on Jesus”; remembering that “the battle is not yours, but God’s” (See 2 Chronicles 20:15+/-)—

Matthew 16:17

1 Corinthians 15:50

but against principalities,                                                                        against powers,                                                                                  against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.—our enemies are unseen, even though they may be manifest in evil persons, we must remember that the battle is the Lord’s—it means we must have the mind of Christ in us to recognize the difference.

Philippians 2:5-11

Romans 8:37-39

Colossians 1:16

SO—we are to put on our armor–

13 Wherefore

take unto you the whole armour of God,

that ye may be able to withstand

in the evil day,

and having done all,

to stand.

14 Stand therefore,–we are called to stand, not sit down on the job—

Jeremiah 6:16 (don’t be one of those who would not hear!)

Malachi 3:1-3

Joshua 1:5

Acts 26:16

Romans 5:1-4

Romans 14:10

1 Corinthians 16;13*

2 Timothy 2:19

And how are we to stand?  Paul makes it clear that God’s provision is all we need to “withstand in the evil day”, and brothers and sisters, we are there/here! For this armor, I simply want to give you some scriptures to help and encourage you to “stand”!  Paul repeated it, and so shall I!

having your loins girt about with truth,—Jesus’–

John 14:6

Matthew 24:35

John 14:10

Romans 5:1-2

Philippians 4:6-9

Colossians 3:15

Hebrews 13:20-21

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith,

wherewith ye shall be able to quench

all the fiery darts of the wicked.—faith is to be the measure of our walk with Jesus, we are to walk in faith not fear, for faith puts out the fire of those fearful arrows of the enemy—

2 Timothy 1:7

Luke 17:5

1 Thessalonians 3:7

2 Thessalonians 1:4

Hebrews 10:23

1 John 5:4

17 And take the helmet of salvation,–right thinking for the believer is JESUS thinking—

** Philippians 2:5-13**

Romans 12:1-3

Colossians 1:10

1 Thessalonians 2:4

and the sword of the Spirit,

which is the word of God:–God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, the Bible, this is our only defensive weapon, and is the lifeline of a believer.  Don’t let Satan rob you of this vital lifeline to God—to know Him, to trust Him, to follow Him and share His Word not our own opinions-

Hebrews 4:12-13

1 Kings 8:26

Isaiah 40:8**

Matthew 4:4

1 Thessalonians 2:13

1 Peter 1:23

2 Timothy 2:15

2 Timothy 3:15-16

And last, but absolutely not least—our armor is to be saturated (oiled if you would) with prayer—our communication with God—the privilege of coming into HIS very presence to speak—but most importantly to HEAR—

18 Praying always

with all prayer

and supplication

in the Spirit,

and watching thereunto

with all perseverance

and supplication

for all saints;”  (Ephesians 6:10-18)–

Hebrews 4:14-16

Colossians 1:3

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Acts 12:5

Romans 1:9

2 Timothy 1:3

So, may we suit up, march forward, praying in all things that we might be found faithful…. And just FYI, I didn’t print the scriptures today as there were so many I wanted to share in this message, and it would have been prohibitive for time and space, so please take the time to look them up and read to see what God has to say!!!  My love and prayers are with each of you.

Amen and Amen!!!

Searchlight Of HIS WORD??? Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 24

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 24  Searchlight Of HIS WORD???

I would like to challenge us today to examine our lives in light of what God’s Word says we are to ‘be’ and ‘do’.  We are bombarded with so much conflicting information and choices, that it is imperative that we know what God says.  I am truly weary of misinformation which some proclaim to be God’s Word, and people just take it as truth; and while God’s Word is truth not everything that is attributed to God, or His Word is actually from God’s Word.  Please, understand that we MUST get into God’s Word for ourselves, so that we will KNOW what God has said for ourselves, only then can we truly judge our lives and behavior by God’s standard instead of the world’s!

“Search me,

O God,

and know

my heart:

try me,

and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way

in me,

and lead me

in the way everlasting.”  Psalm 139:23-24

We are to seek God’s favor not man’s, and the Psalmist knew that we must open ourselves up for God’s searchlight of truth; and while it is often (almost always) somewhat painful—it is always a work of God’s grace, love, and purification of His own, for our good and HIS glory!

“Hearken unto me,

ye that know righteousness,

the people

in whose heart is my law;

fear ye not

the reproach of men,

neither be ye afraid

of their revilings.”  Isaiah 51:7

Paul often shared the import of examining our own lives according to God’s Word and standard, may we heed his advice!

“Wherefore whosoever shall eat

this bread,

and drink

this cup of the Lord,

unworthily,

shall be guilty

of the body

and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself,

and so let him eat of that bread,

and drink of that cup…

…. 31 For if we would judge ourselves,

we should not be judged.

32 But when we are judged,

we are chastened of the Lord,

that we should not be condemned

with the world.”  Portions of 1 Corinthians 11:27-32

Hebrews gives us one of the clearest messages about how God views our life choice, and how urgent it is that we don’t fail to receive truth and obey it, for God will act and discipline His own, for their good and HIS glory!  I encourage us to ponder the truths contained in this message!

“And ye have forgotten

the exhortation which speaketh unto you

as unto children,

My son,

despise not thou the chastening

of the Lord,

nor faint when thou art rebuked

of him:

6 For whom the Lord loveth

he chasteneth,

and scourgeth

every son whom he receiveth.

7 If ye endure chastening,

God dealeth with you as with sons;

for what son is he

whom the father chasteneth not?

8 But if ye be without chastisement,

whereof all are partakers,

then are ye bastards,

and not sons.

9 Furthermore

we have had fathers of our flesh

which corrected us,

and we gave them reverence:

shall we not much rather

be in subjection unto the Father of spirits,

and live?

10 For they verily for a few days

chastened us

after their own pleasure;

but he for our profit,

that we might be partakers

of his holiness.

11 Now no chastening for the present

seemeth to be joyous,

but grievous:

nevertheless afterward

it yieldeth the peaceable fruit

of righteousness

 unto them which are exercised

thereby.”   Hebrews 12:5-11

Not a passage that we hear very often, but it is God’s Word and we need to not only heed it, but also take note of what God is doing in our lives—especially when HE is correcting us (even if we say ‘ouch’!).  And just FYI, the words in this passage from Hebrews 12, ‘chasten’ and ‘chastise’, are forms of a word that means “child training”, which includes all those lessons that are necessary to help a child learn and grow to maturity!  How many of us are ‘growing’?  How many of us are ‘mature’ users of God’s Word, those who are “approved unto God”?

“Study to shew thyself approved

unto God,

a workman

that needeth not to be ashamed,

rightly dividing

the word of truth.”  2 Timothy 2:15

And Paul also told Timothy that God’s Word and the study of it is ever profitable—and that is true for us today as well.  What are we doing about it?  And FYI, ‘perfect’ in this passage simply means ‘mature’ not sinless!  And there is also an implication that we need to keep in mind, if we are called to be “rightly dividing the word of truth”, it implies that we can (as many today do) “wrongly divide” God’s Word! We must let The Word say what it says, and heed and obey it!

“All scripture is given

by inspiration of God,

and is profitable

for doctrine,

for reproof,

for correction,

for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God

may be perfect,

thoroughly furnished

unto all good works.”  2 Timothy 3:16-17

Oh, that we would dive into the word of God like we do into our favorite sport, or novel, TV program, or other pleasures. Which can cause us to neglect God’s Word and HIS very presence (oh, Father forgive me for the neglect that marks so many of my days, may I draw near to Thee to hear Your voice and heed Your direction in my life?)!  Oh, may we remember the declaration of the Psalmist:

“The steps of a good man

are ordered by the LORD:

and he delighteth

in his way.

24 Though he fall,

he shall not be utterly cast down:

for the LORD upholdeth him

with his hand.”  Psalm 37:23-24

May our cry be:

“Order my steps

in thy word:

and let not any iniquity

have dominion over me.”  Psalm 119:133

May we truly pursue the face of God and His holiness in all we are (to be more like Jesus every day) and all we do—for what we ‘do’ comes out of our heart and reveals who/what we ‘are’!  May our heart pursue steps that HE is ordering, for us, day by day!  (See Hebrews 12:1-3)

“And Jesus said,

Are ye also yet without understanding?

17 Do not ye yet understand,

that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth

goeth into the belly,

and is cast out into the draught?

18 But those things which proceed

out of the mouth

come forth from the heart;

and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed

evil thoughts,

murders,

adulteries,

fornications,

thefts,

false witness,

blasphemies:

20 These are the things which defile a man:

but to eat with unwashen hands

defileth not a man.”   Matthew 15:16-20

And again, Jesus said:

“Either make the tree good,

and his fruit good;

or else make the tree corrupt,

and his fruit corrupt:

for the tree is known by his fruit.

34 O generation of vipers,

how can ye,

being evil,

speak good things?

for out of the abundance of the heart

the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man

out of the good treasure of the heart

bringeth forth good things:

and an evil man

out of the evil treasure

bringeth forth evil things.”   Matthew 12:33-35

And one last thing to measure by: a question for us all, “What’s in my heart?  The love of God, and Word of God, or not?”   Remember what’s hidden in the heart will come out in word and deed!  What will HIS searchlight find in my/your heart?  God’s light is true!  Am I?

“With my whole heart

have I sought thee:

O let me not wander

from thy commandments.

11 Thy word

have I hid in mine heart,

that I might not sin

against thee.”  Psalm 119:10-11

What’s hiding in my heart?  In yours?

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #752      Only Two!!!  Really???

I would like to share an important post with you this morning, and while I won’t comment a lot, it’s not because I don’t have much to say, but because I simply want to share God’s Word with you and offer a few comments and ask you to consider what you are accepting and following as truth.

“In the beginning

God created the heaven and the earth…

…And God said,

Let us make man

in our image,

after our likeness:

and let them have dominion

over the fish of the sea,

and over the fowl of the air,

and over the cattle,

and over all the earth,

and over every creeping thing

that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man

in his own image,

in the image of God

created he him;

male and female

created he them.”  Portions of Genesis 1:1 & 26-27

More of the details are revealed in Genesis 2, with the account of the establishment of marriage, the home, and our moral boundaries.

“And the LORD God said,

It is not good

that the man should be alone;

I will make him an help meet for him…

…21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep

to fall upon Adam,

and he slept:

and he took one of his ribs,

and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib,

which the LORD God had taken

from man,

made he a woman,

and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said,

This is now

bone of my bones,

and flesh of my flesh:

she shall be called Woman,

because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man

leave his father and his mother,

and shall cleave unto his wife:

and they shall be one flesh.”  Portions of Genesis 2:18-24

While many dispute and deny the truth of the Genesis account of creation, and also deny that the New Testament even deals with creation, I would challenge you to check it out!  For there are many references not only to the Genesis account of creation, but Jesus Himself confirmed the truth of scripture and mentioned not only the Genesis account of creation, particularly God’s establishment of marriage, but he also referred to Daniel and Jonah—two of the most debated and denied books of scripture.

“And he answered and said unto them,

Have ye not read,

 that he which made them

at the beginning

made them male and female,

5 And said, For this cause

shall a man leave father and mother,

and shall cleave to his wife:

and they twain shall be one flesh?

6 Wherefore they are no more twain,

but one flesh.

What therefore God hath joined together,

let not man put asunder.”  Matthew 19:4-6

While our culture has almost completely disregarded God’s plan and instructions for marriage, I praise God that He forgives and restores.  He gives that “living water” that heals the soul of sin and makes us “new creatures” in Jesus.  I know because I am one of those “Samaritan women” who needed saving and healing from my sin and disregard of God’s way!  What an amazing God we serve.  Like the Samaritan woman, until we see our sin as sin, we have no need of a Savior! How about you?  Are you a sinner in need of a Savior?  Jesus is waiting for you to call upon Him to drink of His living water!

“Jesus answered and said unto her,

Whosoever drinketh of this water

shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water

that I shall give him

shall never thirst;

but the water that I shall give him

shall be in him a well of water

 springing up into everlasting life.

15 The woman saith unto him,

Sir, give me this water,

that I thirst not,

neither come hither to draw.

16 Jesus saith unto her,

Go, call thy husband,

and come hither.

17 The woman answered and said,

I have no husband.

Jesus said unto her,

Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

18 For thou hast had five husbands;

and he whom thou now hast

is not thy husband:

in that saidst thou truly…

…24 God is a Spirit:

and they that worship him

must worship him in spirit and in truth.

25 The woman saith unto him,

I know that Messias cometh,

which is called Christ:

when he is come,

he will tell us all things.

26 Jesus saith unto her,

I that speak unto thee am he…

…28 The woman then left her waterpot,

and went her way into the city,

and saith to the men,

29 Come, see a man,

which told me all things that ever I did:

is not this the Christ?”  Portions of John 4:13-29

Here was a woman who had completely strayed from God’s plan and Jesus brought faith, restoration, and a new vibrant testimony of finding the Messiah.  And this is an amazing thing, for this is the first recorded account of Jesus revealing Himself openly—and not only to a woman, but a Samaritan woman!  A totally ‘anti-cultural’ move, truly declaring that “whosoever will, may come”!  The choice is ours/yours—to believe in Jesus or to reject/deny Him.  It’s your choice—to believe in Jesus—to honor marriage or desecrate it—to obey or to reject the ONE who died for YOU.  “Come, see a man”!  God did create male and female, and HE set the design and plan for mankind and the home, and regardless of what men may say today, God has spoken, and HE will hold men accountable.

“Whosoever therefore shall confess me

before men,

him will I confess

also before my Father which is in heaven.

33 But whosoever shall deny me

before men,

him will I also deny

before my Father which is in heaven.”  Matthew 10:32-33

Please consider what God has said and respond to HIS call on your heart.  Jesus is ready to save right now!  It’s your choice, but choose wisely, there is a test.

“If we confess our sins,

he is faithful and just

to forgive us our sins,

and to cleanse us

from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned,

we make him a liar,

and his word is not in us.”  1 John 1:9-10

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #740  Jesus Said It—That Settles It!!!

I am sorely grieved that social media has become the be all do all in many lives; even Christians are being swayed by what appears on social media rather than pursuing the Word of God and ordering our lives accordingly.  We must return to the pursuit of not only holiness, but “truth” based on the Word of God not man’s opinions, posts, songs, or drama!  Jesus has told us what to expect from the world, yet HE calls us to abide in HIM—not rant our opposition or agreement with various ideas and popular “hot buttons”!  We are called to “take up our cross’ and “follow” Jesus not the latest buzz topics on the public forum!  No matter how great a ‘debater’ we may be if we’re not living as obedient servants of Christ, we have missed the point.

I’ll just let scripture speak today.  You can pick your topic and measure it by The Word of God!

“If the world hate you,

ye know that it hated me

before it hated you.

19 If ye were of the world,

the world would love his own:

but because ye are not of the world,

but I have chosen you

out of the world,

therefore the world hateth you.

20 Remember the word that I said unto you,

The servant is not greater than his lord.

If they have persecuted me,

they will also persecute you;

if they have kept my saying,

they will keep yours also.

21 But all these things

will they do unto you

for my name’s sake,

because they know not him

that sent me.”  John 15:18-21

When we live like the world around us, they will never see a Jesus’ difference in us.  If I dress like a slut (even if I don’t live like one), how can I reflect the Holy Lord; if I talk like a vile reprobate, how can I expect others to desire the Jesus I claim to follow; if I have no use for godly things, but cling to the worldly, how can I draw the lost to the cross?  I could go on, but I think you get the point.  Many would often rather be ‘fashionable’ than holy; rather be affluent than humble servants; would rather go their/our own way than suffer for going God’s way!  There’s only one way to truly reflect Jesus in all we do and say, and Jesus said it better than I ever could.

“I am the true vine,

and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit

he taketh away:

and every branch that beareth fruit,

he purgeth it,

that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean

through the word

which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me,

and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit

of itself,

except it abide in the vine;

no more can ye,

except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine,

ye are the branches:

He that abideth in me,

and I in him,

the same bringeth forth much fruit:

for without me ye can do nothing.”  John 15:1-5

What kind of fruit are you and I bearing before not only the world, but before our Lord?  Remember all that we do is ever before HIS eyes!

“I beseech you therefore, brethren,

by the mercies of God,

that ye present your bodies

a living sacrifice,

holy,

acceptable unto God,

which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed

to this world:

but be ye transformed

by the renewing of your mind,

that ye may prove

what is that good,

and acceptable,

and perfect,

will of God.”   Romans 12:1-3

I simply want to leave you with Paul’s sober warning to us that there will be an accounting—and there won’t be any excuses or reasoning before The One who knows and will hold us accountable!

“According to the grace of God

which is given unto me,

as a wise masterbuilder,

I have laid the foundation,

and another buildeth thereon.

But let every man take heed

how he buildeth thereupon.

11 For other foundation can no man lay

than that is laid,

which is Jesus Christ.

12 Now if any man build upon this foundation

gold,

silver,

precious stones,

wood,

hay,

stubble;

13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest:

for the day shall declare it,

because it shall be revealed

by fire;

and the fire shall try every man’s work

of what sort it is.

14 If any man’s work abide which

he hath built thereupon,

 he shall receive a reward.

15 If any man’s work shall be burned,

he shall suffer loss:

but he himself shall be saved;

yet so as by fire.

16 Know ye not

that ye are the temple of God,

and that the Spirit of God

dwelleth in you?”  1 Corinthians 3:10-16

What will you present to your king?  Gold, silver, and precious stones (all things that God created and that we must mine out as we live for Jesus by the strength, wisdom, and grace only HE can supply!); or will you see your wood, hay and stubble burn up before your eyes and HIS, as your only gift of service to your KING—by your own choice?

The choice is yours but choose wisely there is a test—by fire!  And I truly believe our King is coming soon—very soon!

‘Nuff said!

Amen and Amen!!!
