Bible Ballistics: BBs #683. A People Whose God IS The Lord?

“Blessed is the nation

whose God is the LORD;

and the people whom he hath chosen

for his own inheritance.”  Psalm 33:12

I pray that this morning finds you ready to pray, for that is the intent of this post, and I intend to repost it every Friday for the next five weeks from today.  I pray that God will use it to convict our hearts to decide as Joshua called Israel to decide:

“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD,

choose you this day whom ye will serve;

whether the gods

which your fathers served

that were on the other side

of the flood,

or the gods of the Amorites,

in whose land ye dwell:

but as for me and my house,

we will serve the LORD.”  Joshua 24:15

I simply want to share some passages to help us get our eyes on Jesus and His Word rather than the throughs of men, regardless of our politics.  We must choose wisely, for the very future of our liberty is at stake.  May we pursue God’s perspective and pray fervently, stand faithfully, and vote wisely and righteously!  Then leave the rest in God’s hands—The Lord God Almighty who reigns over ALL!

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all,

supplications,

prayers,

intercessions,

and giving of thanks,

be made for all men;

2 For kings,

and for all that are in authority;

that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life

in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable

in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved,

and to come unto the knowledge

of the truth.

5 For there is one God,

and one mediator

between God and men,

the man Christ Jesus;

6 Who gave himself a ransom

for all,

to be testified in due time.”  1 Timothy 2:1-6

And as Jesus Himself told Pilate, God IS in charge!

“Then saith Pilate unto him,

Speakest thou not unto me?

knowest thou not that I have power

to crucify thee,

and have power

to release thee?

11 Jesus answered,

Thou couldest have no power

at all

against me,

except it were given thee

from above:

therefore he that delivered me

unto thee

hath the greater sin.”  John 18:10-11

May we ponder these things and remember the assurance of God’s Word that prayer is powerful, and may we also remember that apart from grace we all deserve hell.  Praise God that Jesus paid the price for our salvation—not we ourselves!

“Confess your faults one to another,

and pray one for another,

that ye may be healed.

The effectual fervent prayer

of a righteous man

availeth much.”  James 5:16

And we are only “righteous” when we have received the new birth from, through and in JESUS; for His righteousness is imparted to us, for our sin was laid on HIM.  Whose righteousness are you depending on?

“For he hath made him

to be sin for us,

who knew no sin;

that we might be made

the righteousness of God

in him.”   2 Corinthians 5:21

And I simply close with the words of our Lord Jesus about prayer.

“After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father

which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done

in earth,

as it is in heaven…”   Matthew 6:9-10

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #664  Good Citizens For Jesus’ Sake!!!

I would simply like to wish each of you a most blessed and “Happy Independence Day”-4th of July, here in the US!  And a blessed and joyous day to all!  I just want to share a message from God through the Apostle Paul in regard to our duty to our governmental leaders no matter where we live, no matter the perilous times we may live in!  We as believers and followers of Jesus, are called to follow God and respect the authorities that God has established.  I simply want to share a couple of passages for your perusal sometime this weekend as you spend time with family and friends, celebrating the blessings of God in establishing this great country!  And I pray that God will please “Bless America”, and “deliver us from evil”!  Amen!

“Let every soul be subject

unto the higher powers.

For there is no power

but of God:

the powers that be

are ordained of God.

2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power,

resisteth the ordinance of God:

and they that resist

shall receive to themselves damnation.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works,

but to the evil.

Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power?

do that which is good,

and thou shalt have praise of the same:

4 For he is the minister of God to thee

for good.

But if thou do that which is evil,

be afraid;

for he beareth not the sword in vain:

for he is the minister of God,

a revenger to execute wrath

upon him that doeth evil.

5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject,

not only for wrath,

but also for conscience sake.

6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also:

for they are God’s ministers,

attending continually

upon this very thing.

7 Render therefore

to all their dues:

tribute

to whom tribute is due;

custom

to whom custom;

fear

to whom fear;

honour

to whom honour.

8 Owe no man any thing,

but to love one another:

for he that loveth another

hath fulfilled the law.”   Romans 13:1-8

And from Paul’s letter to his son-in-the-ministry, Timothy!

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all,

supplications,

prayers,

intercessions,

and giving of thanks,

be made for all men;

2 For kings,

and for all that are in authority;

that we may lead a quiet

and peaceable life

in all godliness

and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable

in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved,

and to come unto

the knowledge of the truth.

5 For there is one God,

and one mediator

between God and men,

the man Christ Jesus;

6 Who gave himself a ransom

for all,

to be testified in due time.”   1 Timothy 2:1-6

And may we, each one, seek to please our Lord in all we say and do, letting our “little light shine”!

“Rejoice evermore.

17 Pray without ceasing.

18 In every thing give thanks:

for this is the will of God

in Christ Jesus

concerning you.”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

May God’s blessing be seen at every turn in your life—He’s there—are we paying attention?  Let’s do!

Amen and Amen!!!

Are You Being Fooled??? Bible Ballistics: BBs #661

Bible Ballistics: BBs #661  Are You Being Fooled???

I would like to share a word today about our associations, and the need for caution and wisdom in choosing whom or what ideologies and movements we align ourselves with.  For today many are hopping on board with people whose goals and ideologies are foreign, and often opposed, to the call and biblical principles of Jesus and HIS Word.

I truly believe that my call is to adhere to, love and obey God’s Word rather than the latest movement of the day—be it political, religious, or social.  The Word of God is to be our compass, our guide and the solid rock upon which we can stand without fear of collapse.  Jesus gives us a sure warning!

“Therefore whosoever heareth

these sayings of mine,

and doeth them,

I will liken him unto a wise man,

which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended,

and the floods came,

and the winds blew,

and beat upon that house;

and it fell not:

for it was founded upon a rock.

26 And every one that heareth

these sayings of mine,

and doeth them not,

shall be likened unto a foolish man,

which built his house upon the sand:

27 And the rain descended,

and the floods came,

and the winds blew,

and beat upon that house;

and it fell:

and great was the fall of it.”                   Matthew 7:24-26

Where is your house built?  Jesus also warned us that, in my words, “saying so doesn’t make it so”; just because someone claims to be leading in the right direction, you need to check out who you are following, and believing!

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you

in sheep’s clothing,

but inwardly

they are ravening wolves.”   Matthew 7:15

Paul gives us some good advice for responding to cultural issues; and he reminds us (it is dear to my heart) that we have One call—and that is to preach Christ Jesus—Lord of all, crucified, risen and coming again!  It is so easy to have our focus distracted and find ourselves of little use to God after we have ruined our testimony by being distracted by the call of the world’s “causes”!

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all,

supplications,

prayers,

intercessions,

and giving of thanks,

be made for all men;

2 For kings,

and for all that are in authority;

that we may lead a quiet

and peaceable life

in all godliness

and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable

in the sight of God our Saviour;

4 Who will have all men to be saved,

and to come unto the knowledge

of the truth.

5 For there is one God,

and one mediator

between God and men,

the man Christ Jesus;

6 Who gave himself a ransom

for all,

to be testified in due time.”  I Timothy 2:1-6

And if I may take the liberty—it’s past time to return to our calling as children of God; and that my friends is the desire of my heart—to be found faithful to to my Lord Jesus Christ when He comes, or when He calls me unto Himself!

“And I, brethren,

when I came to you,

came not with excellency of speech

or of wisdom,

declaring unto you the testimony

of God.

2 For I determined

not to know any thing among you,

save Jesus Christ,

and him crucified.”   1 Corinthians 2:1-2

It’s all about Jesus—He died for ME and YOU!  Who are you abandoning Jesus for?  We are called to live for Jesus, not our own fickle fancies of the day.  May God open our eyes!

“I am crucified with Christ:

nevertheless I live;

yet not I,

but Christ liveth in me:

and the life which I now live in the flesh

I live by the faith of the Son of God,

who loved me,

and gave himself for me.”  Galatians 2:20

Amen and Amen!!!
