Bible Ballistics: BBs #683. A People Whose God IS The Lord?
“Blessed is the nation
whose God is the LORD;
and the people whom he hath chosen
for his own inheritance.” Psalm 33:12
I pray that this morning finds you ready to pray, for that is the intent of this post, and I intend to repost it every Friday for the next five weeks from today. I pray that God will use it to convict our hearts to decide as Joshua called Israel to decide:
“And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD,
choose you this day whom ye will serve;
whether the gods
which your fathers served
that were on the other side
of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites,
in whose land ye dwell:
but as for me and my house,
we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
I simply want to share some passages to help us get our eyes on Jesus and His Word rather than the throughs of men, regardless of our politics. We must choose wisely, for the very future of our liberty is at stake. May we pursue God’s perspective and pray fervently, stand faithfully, and vote wisely and righteously! Then leave the rest in God’s hands—The Lord God Almighty who reigns over ALL!
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all,
supplications,
prayers,
intercessions,
and giving of thanks,
be made for all men;
2 For kings,
and for all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life
in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable
in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved,
and to come unto the knowledge
of the truth.
5 For there is one God,
and one mediator
between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom
for all,
to be testified in due time.” 1 Timothy 2:1-6
And as Jesus Himself told Pilate, God IS in charge!
“Then saith Pilate unto him,
Speakest thou not unto me?
knowest thou not that I have power
to crucify thee,
and have power
to release thee?
11 Jesus answered,
Thou couldest have no power
at all
against me,
except it were given thee
from above:
therefore he that delivered me
unto thee
hath the greater sin.” John 18:10-11
May we ponder these things and remember the assurance of God’s Word that prayer is powerful, and may we also remember that apart from grace we all deserve hell. Praise God that Jesus paid the price for our salvation—not we ourselves!
“Confess your faults one to another,
and pray one for another,
that ye may be healed.
The effectual fervent prayer
of a righteous man
availeth much.” James 5:16
And we are only “righteous” when we have received the new birth from, through and in JESUS; for His righteousness is imparted to us, for our sin was laid on HIM. Whose righteousness are you depending on?
“For he hath made him
to be sin for us,
who knew no sin;
that we might be made
the righteousness of God
in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
And I simply close with the words of our Lord Jesus about prayer.
“After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father
which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
in earth,
as it is in heaven…” Matthew 6:9-10
Amen and Amen!!!
