In Jesus We Are ABLE??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #221

When we put on the armor of God, we think of Ephesians 6 and the great passage regarding the armor of God, but it is so easy to miss a small but mighty lesson there.  So I want to emphasize just one word in this passage today; yes, take it all in, suit up in your armor but don’t miss what comes with it!

“Finally, my brethren,

be strong in the Lord,

and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God,

that ye may be able to stand

against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,

but against principalities,

against powers,

against the rulers of the darkness of this world,

against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,

that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day,

and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore,

having your loins girt about with truth,

and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation

of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith,

wherewith ye shall be able

to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation,

and the sword of the Spirit,

which is the word of God:

18 Praying always

with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,

and watching thereunto

with all perseverance

and supplication

for all saints;” Ephesians 6:10-18

The Apostle Paul reminded Timothy that his confidence should be in God’s faithfulness, for Paul knew that Jesus was, IS, and ever shall be able to keep us!

“Whereunto I am appointed a preacher,

and an apostle,

and a teacher

of the Gentiles.

12 For the which cause

I also suffer these things:

nevertheless I am not ashamed:

for I know whom I have believed,

and am persuaded that he is able

to keep that which I have committed

unto him against that day.”  2 Timothy 1:11-12

When we choose to trust all our lives to the God who is “able”, we will find Him faithful too!  It’s why we can say with Paul today:

“I can do all things

through Christ which strengtheneth me…

…. 19 But my God shall supply

all your need according to his riches in glory

by Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:13 & 19

Jesus walks with us day by day and He will direct our steps through the voice of His precious Holy Spirit if we will but hear and heed His voice; He will never leave us nor will He miss our calls for help for HE is able and the supplier of every breath we take.  He is a true helper of the helpless—if we will but look to Him, for HE is able, He knows our sorrows, our joys,  our strengths and our weaknesses for He walked through this sinful world for us, without sin and died the perfect “lamb of God who taketh away the sin of the world...”!  HE IS able?  Are you?

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens,

Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched

with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted like as we are,

yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help

in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:14-16

God provides—HE IS able, if we will but hear, heed and follow His Word, we will find Him “able” and sufficient to our every need all to His glory and our good!

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you;

that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things,

may abound to every good work:”   2 Corinthians 9:8

And as Paul reminded the Roman believers, may we know HE is working ever on our behalf!  Won’t you trust your limitations to His ability?  He is more than able!  Oh, Jesus please speak to us today?

“And we know that all things work together for good

to them that love God,

to them who are the called

according to his purpose.

29 For whom he …. did predestinate

to be conformed to the image of his Son…”  Romans 8:28-29

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: Vol. 17 No. 02  Choosing What To See???

I spoke recently at a ladies gathering to share my experiences of going through the murder of my daughter some sixteen months ago.  It’s not a pleasant story, but it is a story of hope and confidence in our God, and the fact that we can “stand fast in the evil day”!  It all comes down to knowing God through the Lord Jesus Christ and learning to see things through the lens of faith and a knowledge of God’s Word!  I can choose how I look at things and how I will respond to my circumstances.  I can choose to see things through eyes of faith in Jesus, or, as my former Pastor Brad McCoy used to say, “I can doubt, pout and drop out”!  It’s your choice, but choose wisely, there is a test!  I choose to proclaim with Paul:

“Who hath saved us, and called us

with an holy calling,

not according to our works,

but according to his own purpose and grace,

which was given us in Christ Jesus

before the world began,

10 But is now made manifest

by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ,

who hath abolished death,

and hath brought life

and immortality to light

through the gospel:

11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher,

and an apostle,

and a teacher of the Gentiles.

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things:

nevertheless I am not ashamed:

for I know whom I have believed,

and am persuaded

that he is able

to keep that

which I have committed

unto him

against that day.

13 Hold fast the form of sound words,

which thou hast heard of me,

in faith

and love

which is in Christ Jesus.”  2 Timothy 1:9-13

In fact, this is almost an addendum to what Paul reminded Timothy of in verse 7:

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;

but of power,

and of love,

and of a sound mind.”  2 Timothy 1:7

It’s interesting that the phrase “sound mind” can mean “right thinking”, for we can choose what we think, and it is imperative that we guard our hearts and minds, and think biblically.  How?

“Let this mind be in you,

which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God,

thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation,

and took upon him the form of a servant,

and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man,

he humbled himself,

and became obedient unto death,

even the death of the cross.”   Philippians 2:5-8

Even as Paul reminded the Galatians, we are to live a crucified life of humble reliance upon God, trusting to His sovereign control in all things—and while God never said all things would be good, HE did tell us that HE is working IN all things for our good.  Will we trust HIM in all things?  Will we die to self and live for, by and through the power that Jesus supplies?

“I am crucified with Christ:

nevertheless I live;

yet not I,

but Christ liveth in me:

and the life which I now live in the flesh

I live by the faith of the Son of God,

who loved me,

and gave himself for me.”  Galatians 2:20

But how do I live the crucified life? By the power of God and learning to control my thought life and the desires of our heart!

“Finally, brethren,

whatsoever things are true,

whatsoever things are honest,

whatsoever things are just,

whatsoever things are pure,

whatsoever things are lovely,

whatsoever things are of good report;

if there be any virtue,

and if there be any praise,

think on these things.

9 Those things,

which ye have both learned,

and received,

and heard,

and seen

in me, do:

and the God of peace

shall be with you.”   Philippians 4:8-9

We must understand that the battle will almost always begin in our mind—and while we can’t control what comes into our mind, I can control what I will permit to stay in my mind!  As a friend says, check the devil at the door (of your mind!)!  If he can’t pass the Philippians 4:8 test, give him the boot (so to speak).  Yield to God’s Spirit and find victory!

“But he giveth more grace.

Wherefore he saith,

God resisteth the proud,

but giveth grace unto the humble.

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God.

Resist the devil,

and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God,

and he will draw nigh to you.

Cleanse your hands,

ye sinners;

and purify your hearts,

ye double minded.”  James 4:6-8

Paul gives us great advice for these spiritual battles of the mind!

“For though we walk in the flesh,

we do not war after the flesh:

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,

but mighty through God

to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5 Casting down imaginations,

and every high thing

that exalteth itself

against the knowledge of God,

and bringing into captivity

every thought

to the obedience of Christ;”                                  2 Corinthians 10:3-5

The key is “bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”, and I would encourage you to commit Philippians 4:8-9 and 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 to memory—they are invaluable assets to have in your “memory” bank!  They help us to keep our “seeing” straight, as we keep our “eyes” on Jesus, and as I’m often heard to say, keep looking up not around at the “lions”!

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about

with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight,

and the sin which doth so easily beset us,

and let us run with patience

the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus

the author and finisher of our faith;

who for the joy that was set before him

endured the cross,

despising the shame,

and is set down at the right hand

of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:1-2

As we keep our eyes “Looking unto Jesus”, we can know that HE hears, HE cares, and HE is ever providing all that we need.  Just as I could trust HIM in the tragic circumstance of December 19, 2019, you can trust HIM to ever supply your needs and comfort and encourage your heart, your mind, and your decisions!

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens,

Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched with the feeling

of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted like as we are,

yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help

in time of need.”   Hebrews 4:14-16

Knowing that with Paul, we can boldly say:

“I can

do all things through Christ

which strengtheneth me…

… “19 But my God shall supply

all your need

according to his riches in glory

by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:13 & 19

I pray that you will “see” through God’s lenses, and not let your circumstances distract you from running “the race that is set before” YOU!  Remember it’s God who set your race and mine, and HE is always there for YOU, with YOU, and before you and behind you, if we will but heed HIS voice.  Do you have eyes that see?  I pray that you will!

“Hear now this, O foolish people,

and without understanding;

which have eyes, and see not;

which have ears, and hear not:” Jeremiah 5:21

Open our eyes Lord—to see YOU!

“And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said,

What will ye that I shall do unto you?

33 They say unto him, Lord,

that our eyes may be opened.”  Matthew 20:32-33

Amen and Amen!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #714   Why Here? Why Now? Why Me?

I would like to share some thoughts with you this morning about God’s faithfulness and His totally trustworthy sovereignty!  We’ve all asked these questions at various time—particularly “Why Me?”!  But scripture assures us that if we will learn to depend fully on our God, our Lord and Savior, we will walk in victory; even when we don’t understand we can take Jesus at HIS Word, for no matter where, or when trials come, we are NEVER alone!  So, let’s start there, and remember ‘conversation’ is a reference to ‘life-style’ not just our speech!

“Let your conversation

be without covetousness;

and be content

with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.”  Hebrews 13:5-6

Are you walking in contentment or are you allowing the enemy to lead you into disruption, distrust, and subtle dissatisfaction?  When we walk in contentment and the confidence of knowing “our God reigns”, we will find that “peace…..which passeth all understanding”!

“But godliness with contentment

is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into this world,

and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8 And having food and raiment

let us be therewith content.”  1 Timothy 6:6-8

And while it seems that “contentment” is the antithesis of the American dream, it isn’t and even if it were, it’s what God has called us to!  In fact, discontent is one of the chief factors that drive us into bad situations (by our own bad choices, more often than not!).  Even as Jesus’ message to John in The Revelation, we must consider our ways in light of God’s Word—and to do that we must be IN The Word.

“Blessed is

he that readeth,

and they that hear

the words of this prophecy,

and keep those things

which are written therein:

for the time is at hand.”   Revelation 1:3

The blessing isn’t promised to those who simply read or peruse the ‘words’ that are written in this message, but to those who read it—hear it (regarding what they hear)—and keep it!  We must heed all of God’s Word and pursue our relationship with Jesus, knowing that like Esther we are here for God’s purposes!

“and who knoweth

whether thou art come to the kingdom

for such a time as this?”  Esther 4:4b

And, my dear friends, if there ever were “such a time as this”—it is now, and we must, absolutely must, “stand fast in the evil day” which is upon us!  But stand in God’s power, wisdom and ways not our own.

“Then he answered and spake unto me, saying,

This is the word of the LORD

unto Zerubbabel, saying,

Not by might,

nor by power,

but by my spirit,

saith the LORD of hosts.”   Zechariah 4:6

It’s the how and why of Paul’s encouragement to the Philippian believers.  It’s how we live, walk and have victory in all we do!

“I can do all things

through Christ

which strengtheneth me…

… 19 But my God

shall supply all your need

according to his riches in glory

by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:13 & 19

Are you wrestling with blame, confusion, uncertainty, or just plain fear of the future?  God has a better way for you!

“For God hath not given us

the spirit of fear;

but of power,

and of love,

and of a sound mind.”  2 Timothy 1:7

Don’t succumb to the enemy of your soul, but stand fast in the truth that truly, “our God reigns”!  And Satan is a defeated foe!  Jeremiah is often referred to as the ‘weeping prophet’ because his task was difficult and God told him beforehand that it would be—but God supplied his every need and his burden for truth and God’s people was beyond comprehension, and perhaps these words of Jeremiah’s that mean so much to me in making it through some difficult struggles will also speak to you today.

“Therefore thus saith the LORD,

If thou return,

then will I bring thee again,

and thou shalt stand before me:

and if thou take forth the precious

from the vile,

thou shalt be as my mouth:

let them return unto thee;

but return not thou unto them.

20 And I will make thee unto this people

a fenced brasen wall:

and they shall fight against thee,

but they shall not prevail against thee:

for I am with thee

to save thee

and to deliver thee,

saith the LORD.

21 And I will deliver thee

out of the hand of the wicked,

and I will redeem thee

out of the hand of the terrible.”   Jeremiah 15:19-21

Jesus gave us our marching orders and HIS way is always best, even when the way looks long and dreary (what Oswald Chambers refers to as “the mundane”), or even scary– our God is ever by us, before us, behind us and is causing our steps to glorify HIM!

“Having your conversation honest

among the Gentiles:

that, whereas they speak against you

as evildoers,

they may by your good works,

which they shall behold,

glorify God

in the day of visitation.”  1 Peter 2:12

Jesus’ own words direct our hearts, steps, and our choices:

“Therefore take no thought, saying,

What shall we eat?

or, What shall we drink?

or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things

do the Gentiles seek:)

for your heavenly Father knoweth

that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first

the kingdom of God,

and his righteousness;

and all these things

shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow:

for the morrow shall take thought

for the things of itself.

Sufficient unto the day

is the evil thereof.”  Matthew 6:31-34

In closing, what do we think and do?  We guard our hearts and minds from the enemy of our souls; and think on the things of God, as someone once said— “Check the enemy at the door of your mind!”  Don’t let the “Father of lies” deceive you into less than GOD has for you!

“Be careful for nothing;

but in every thing

by prayer

and supplication

with thanksgiving

let your requests be made known

unto God.

7 And the peace of God,

which passeth all understanding,

shall keep your hearts and minds

through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren,

whatsoever things are true,

whatsoever things are honest,

whatsoever things are just,

whatsoever things are pure,

whatsoever things are lovely,

whatsoever things are of good report;

if there be any virtue,

and if there be any praise,

think on these things.”  Philippians 4:6-8

I pray that we will all march forward to victory in Jesus (that would make a great song!) each day, knowing that:

“And a voice came out of the throne, saying,

Praise our God,

all ye his servants,

and ye that fear him,

both small

and great.

6 And I heard as it were the voice

of a great multitude,

and as the voice of many waters,

and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying,

Alleluia:

for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

7 Let us be glad

and rejoice,

and give honour to him….”   Revelation 19:5-7a

May you have a blessed week and keep your eyes fixed on the prize—Jesus.  Don’t let the bend in the road distract you from God’s love and purposes!

“…God is love…”!

Amen and Amen!!!

Subtle Dependence??? Bible Ballistics: BBs #545

Bible Ballistics: BBs #545  Subtle Dependence???

“Not that I speak in respect of want:

for I have learned,

in whatsoever state I am,

therewith to be content.

12 I know both how to be abased,

and I know how to abound:

every where

and in all things

I am instructed

both to be full

and to be hungry,

both to abound

and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things

through Christ

which strengtheneth me.”    Philippians 4:11-13

We are living in a day and time when people, even good godly people, are falling into the trap of placing our trust and dependence on things other than God—namely the government.  We live in an age of ‘entitlement’—I am entitled to _____!  You fill in the blank!  We are being led by our culture—through the media, TV, movies, music, political banter, and a “subtle” encroachment into our hearts and minds, causing us to accept things that we once would have questioned.  And even if we question them now, we hear the reasoned arguments that confirm our “entitlement” to a specific provision.  But I want to share a few thoughts that might help us all (me included) to reconsider some of our current ideology.

“Now the serpent was more subtil

than any beast of the field

which the LORD God had made.

And he said unto the woman,

Yea, hath God said,

Ye shall not eat of every tree

of the garden?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent,

We may eat of the fruit of the trees

of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree

which is in the midst of the garden,

God hath said,

Ye shall not eat of it,

 neither shall ye touch it,

 lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman,

Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know

that in the day ye eat thereof,

then your eyes shall be opened,

and ye shall be as gods,

knowing good and evil.

6 And when the woman

saw

that the tree was good for food,

and that it was pleasant to the eyes,

and a tree to be desired

to make one wise,

she took of the fruit thereof,

and did eat,

and gave also unto her husband

with her;

and he did eat.”   Genesis 3:1-6

Here we find the ‘great deceiver’ encountering Eve in the Garden of Eden, (and yes, I believe in a literal 6 day creation, a man and a woman who were created in perfection, and the fall of man and woman into sin—requiring a Redeemer to save and deliver them from the penalty of sin—death—through JESUS!) appearing to her in the form of a serpent, leading her to disregard God’s commands for the “more” that she would have if she acted on her own!  The same tempter who comes to us today, with the same lies—tempting us to doubt God, His goodness, and His integrity!  And He is a ‘liar’ extraordinaire!  Yet his tactics haven’t changed—he is always trying to convince us that God is not sufficient.  And while he even appears to us as a purveyor of truth and provision—he IS a liar.

Satan’s tactics are to distract us from truth, with things that sound good, causing us to doubt and misrepresent God.  Even Eve added to what God had told Adam, when she said they couldn’t “touch” the tree!  (See Genesis 2:16-17)

We must be careful to believe God and His Word, yet to do that we must know HIM and HIS Word in its contextual truth!  Satan is an expert at twisting God’s words!  If you’ll remember he used God’s Word when he was tempting our Lord, but Jesus always came back with the truthful context of The Word, not isolated snippets of truth (which is what we often hear and do ourselves sometimes!). Be aware of what you are listening to and believing.

“For such are false apostles,

 deceitful workers,

transforming themselves

into the apostles of Christ.

14 And no marvel;

for Satan himself is transformed

into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing

if his ministers also

be transformed

as the ministers of righteousness;

whose end shall be

according to their works.”  2 Corinthians 11:13-15

God knows truth because He is truth, and all things will be judged according to HIS Word—both the spoken/written Word and the living Word—Jesus!

“For the word of God is

quick,

and powerful,

and sharper than any twoedged sword,

piercing even to the dividing asunder

of soul and spirit,

and of the joints and marrow,

 and is a discerner

of the thoughts

and intents

of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature

that is not manifest

in his sight:

but all things

are naked

and opened

unto the eyes of him

with whom we have to do.”   Hebrews 4:12-13

We will all give an account before God, and when we do, will our defense be the devices of men or The Word of God and the truth by which we have chosen to live, trusting in Jesus?  Even as Solomon told us many years ago:

“The thing that hath been,

it is that which shall be;

and that which is done

is that which shall be done:

and there is no new thing

under the sun.

10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said,

See, this is new?

it hath been already of old time,

which was before us.”  Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

There certainly is “no new thing under the sun”, so we must learn to recognize the difference between God’s truth and the subtle lies of the enemy of our souls!  I’ll share a couple of examples of what I’m talking about.  Many years ago I was in a conversation with some friends, some younger and some older, and the topic came up regarding the widowed marrying again, and one lady said (half-jokingly, then but it has become reality today), “I won’t give up my $$$ pension to marry, I’d just ‘shack-up’ and keep my money!”  Well we’ve come to see that to be the mindset of many ‘seniors’—even those who claim the name of Jesus, who now refuse to ‘marry’ because it would cost them a ‘pension’, so they ‘shack-up’ instead.  Well, I simply ask, where is our confidence?  Is it in the government or our God, who calls that adultery?

Another example is from a recent conversation about caring for elderly parents, and the options of government benefits.  The subject turned to the elderly and Medicare/Medicaid, and how to ‘shelter’ their money so the government will pay for their care, instead of using their own money to care for them.  The conversation led to some statements to the end that ‘they’ needed to ‘shelter’ their money by giving it to their children so the government couldn’t take it to care for them; claiming that they had ‘worked hard’ to earn that money, land….etc.!  Well, I ask, what did they earn that money for if not to care for themselves? Instead we have often allowed ourselves to fall into the mindset that I ought to keep what’s ‘mine’ and let the government care for my parents!  I know that’s dangerous ground to walk on, and I’ve walked that path, and not always made the right choices.  But it’s something that we need to examine in our own hearts (and God knows our hearts and what our circumstances are!).  And while I agree that there are great inconsistencies in how our government uses the resources that our tax dollars provide, we must make sure that our personal vision, our ‘biblical worldview’, has not been skewed by the greed of our government, and the injustice of how it often spends the ‘public largess’!  The care of those in our family is something that Jesus said was not to be relegated to others (See Mark 7:10-12).  And while we often need help to accomplish ‘care-giving’, we must not allow greed a foothold into our hears, with the defense that ‘everyone else is doing it’ or ‘they owe it to them/me’ (See Luke 12:13-21)! Our confidence must be in God not man!

I pray that this will spark in each of us the desire to seek God’s face and His will in our own choices and ‘world-view’!  For it is God who provides for His own! And because HE does—“I can do all” things rightly!

“I can do all things

through Christ

which strengtheneth me….

19 But my God shall supply

all your need

according to his riches in glory

by Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:13 & 19

And the verse that sustains and calls me to that “higher plain”!

“Trust in the LORD

with all thine heart;

and lean not

unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways

acknowledge him,

and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise

 in thine own eyes:

fear the LORD,

and depart from evil.”  Proverbs 3:5-7

May we truly be purveyors of truth and confidence in JESUS, not deceived by the subtle lies of the enemy of truth, nor misplacing our confidence!

“Be not deceived;

God is not mocked:

for whatsoever a man soweth,

that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth

to his flesh

shall of the flesh

reap corruption;

but he that soweth

to the Spirit

shall of the Spirit

reap life everlasting.

9 And let us not be weary

in well doing:

for in due season

we shall reap,

if we faint not.” Galatians 6:7-9

Amen and Amen!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #528    What Are You Yoked To???

“Be ye not unequally yoked together

with unbelievers:

for what fellowship

hath righteousness

with unrighteousness?

and what communion

hath light

with darkness?”  2 Corinthians 6:14

While this passage is most often used to refer to marriage, it is also applicable to our lives in general, and I’d like to share a few things this morning about our personal choices in life, particularly in these days of constant bombardment by media—general media of TV, movies, radio, and ‘news’ (good, bad, or indifferent—true of false!)—and social media—the chit, chat and spat of constant  infusions of banter, whether it’s helpful or harmful.

I think much of it is harmful, in the sense that it has and is taking over the lives of a whole generation, and even we older people are allowing it to distract and consume us as well.  It truly is a threat to our well-being if we don’t consider how we ought to use it, and what it has the potential to do to our lives, our relationships and our witness.  People somehow have come to think it’s ‘OK’ to say things on social media, that they wouldn’t say in person.  We have come to accept the lies of the enemy simply because they come with ‘cutesy’ cartoons, videos and shock features.  Paul warned his fellow believers at Corinth to be wary of becoming involved —being “yoked together”—with those diametrically opposed to God, our Lord Jesus, The Word of God and/or anything that calls people to Biblical righteousness! We must examine our hearts, souls and minds to see what we have become “yoked together” with!

We must get our lives in tune with our Lord and His Word; we must get our eyes back on Jesus and not the things of the world.  We must lay some things aside, and once again cling to the things of God rather than the world.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about

with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside

every weight,

and the sin

which doth so easily beset us,

and let us run

with patience

the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus

the author

and finisher

of our faith;

who for the joy that was set before him

endured the cross,

despising the shame,

and is set down at the right hand

of the throne of God.

3 For consider him

that endured such contradiction

of sinners

against himself,

lest ye be wearied

and faint

in your minds.

4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood,

striving against sin.” Hebrews 12:1-4

We must remember that sin is a “weight” that we are to “lay aside” as we “run with patience”—oh I love this—”the race that is set before us”!  Did you get that?  We are to run the “race that is set before us”—a race that Jesus has “set before” you and me!  We are called to run the race that Jesus has not only called us to run, but HE has set the course for you and me to run. And while there are things that we all are called to do (live holy, righteous, Spirit filled lives), there are differences in our giftings and our individual callings of service. I don’t have to run your race, nor you, mine.  But I would like to share a few things that have burdened my heart of late, and I think these are things that affect most of us; things that we need to appraise in regard to the “yoke” that we may have allowed to join us to things that we need not be a part of, or at the very least not be consumed and controlled by!

Disconnect from our “Phone”—

Reconnect with God, family and friends—

Stop living a ‘virtual’ life—

Start (or restart) living a real, people engaging life—

Stop the wholesale consumption of ‘junk food’ media— (social or otherwise)

Start spending more time praying, reading and connecting with real people                                   and The Real God—

I have been personally convicted of late that I have allowed these “techno” issues to consume way too much of my time; and they are total ‘time’ stealers. (They can also steal and corrupt our heart, our mind and our conscience!). And our world needs to see The Jesus that we claim to love and worship in us.

“What? know ye not

that your body

is the temple of the Holy Ghost

which is in you,

which ye have of God,

and ye are not your own?

20 For ye are bought with a price:

therefore glorify God

in your body,

and in your spirit,

which are God’s.”  1 Corinthians 6:19-20

We are blood-bought servants of The Most High God and His Son Jesus.  And not just servants but children, children who were adopted into the Kingdom of God by blood of Jesus, which “cleanses us from all sin”—yes from “all sin”; we can rise above in Jesus, by the power of His blood and the indwelling Holy Spirit which He imparts to us!  Jesus is our sufficiency, if we will but learn to lean on Him and not ourselves.  We are to be yoked with Jesus not the world.  How about you?  Will you join me in recommitting to make sure that we keep our heart and life “yoked” with Jesus!!!

“Come unto me,

all ye that labour

and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you,

and learn of me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest

unto your souls.

30 For my yokeis easy,

and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

I pray that God will open our eyes to see the dangers that we face each day and turn to HIM before we fall for the lies of the enemy of our souls.  We can live victorious lives IN Him!

“I can do

all things

through Christ which strengtheneth me…….

19 …..my God shall supply all your need

according to his riches in glory

by Christ Jesus.”   Philippians 4:13 & 19
