Bible Ballistics: Vol. 16 No. 12 Don’t Let Fear Rule YOU???

I have a very brief and simple word for today—God’s is trustworthy, and we don’t have to fear what HE is doing.

“What time I am afraid,

I will trust in thee.

4 In God I will praise his word,

in God I have put my trust;

I will not

fear what flesh can do unto me.” Psalm 56:3-4

Even when we are facing uncertain days, as we are now on every hand, we can count on God to direct our steps.  I hope that this will be a word of encouragement for you and me!  While things in the world may alarm or distress us, it’s just natural to experience fear or alarm; when our health is less than stellar, or the people that we love are plagued by uncertain futures, our God is still in charge.

“For God hath not given us

the spirit of fear;

but of power,

and of love,

and of a sound mind.”  2 Timothy 1:7

Paul assured Timothy that God gives us what we need to be successful in His kingdom, and we don’t have to let fear rule our hearts, minds or our lives!  Fear is an emotion, not a sin, but when we let sin take control of us, it can lead us to sin.  That is why we must remember where we are grounded, and that is in Jesus Christ and Him alone; keeping our eyes on Him, and our hearts and minds steeped in HIS Word!

“The steps of a good man

are ordered by the LORD:

and he delighteth in his way.

24 Though he fall,

he shall not be utterly cast down:

for the LORD upholdeth him

with his hand.”  Psalm 37:23-24

Even the author of Hebrews assures us that wherever we go, or whatever we do, we are never alone, and we can walk in confidence with our God.  It’s been a little uncertain and precarious at our house lately, and maybe you are having uncertain things encircle you and yours; but I am here to remind you that we need not fear, but just keep our eyes on our Jesus for HE is always there.  And no matter the need HE knows—and HE cares.  You can trust to HIS care and come into HIS presence with confidence!

“Seeing then that we have a great high priest,

that is passed into the heavens,

Jesus the Son of God,

let us hold fast our profession.

15 For we have not an high priest

which cannot be touched

with the feeling of our infirmities;

but was in all points tempted

like as we are,

yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly

unto the throne of grace,

that we may obtain mercy,

and find grace to help

in time of need.”  Hebrews 4:14-16

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about

with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight,

and the sin which doth so easily beset us,

and let us run with patience

the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus

the author

and finisher

of our faith;

who for the joy

that was set before him

endured the cross,

despising the shame,

and is set down

at the right hand

of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:1-2

Chapter 13 of Hebrews continues with a powerful message of assurance!

“Let your conversation

be without covetousness;

and be content

with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do

unto me.”   Hebrews 13:5-6

So, friends, my word to you (and me) is that we fix our eyes on Jesus, remembering that HE never fails, and we can trust that HE is working all things for our good and to His glory.  I trust HIM!!!  Do you???  Remember—He IS coming back—He wins, and so do we!  So, let’s serve Him fearlessly and faithfully in all we do, no matter the trials or difficulties that we encounter; remember don’t let fear rule your decisions and your life!  Instead, let Jesus rule—HE will always lead you rightly—without fear!

“But thanks be to God,

which giveth us the victory

through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore,

my beloved brethren,

be ye stedfast,

unmoveable,

always abounding

in the work of the Lord,

forasmuch as ye know

that your labour

is not in vain

in the Lord.”  1 Corinthians 15:57-58

As God told Isaiah:

“Fear thou not;

for I am with thee:

be not dismayed;

for I am thy God:

I will strengthen thee;

yea, I will help thee; yea,

I will uphold thee

with the right hand

of my righteousness.”  Isaiah 41:10

That kind of says it all….God’s got you and whatever your “it” is!  God’s got “it”—and “YOU”!!!  Trust HIM—HE never fails!

Amen and Amen!!!

Bible Ballistics: BBs #668  Fear NOT!!! But How???

I know we are inundated with crises all around us, and many are engulfed in fear.  I’d like to share some encouragement today that will lift our hearts and our eyes heavenward!

“What time I am afraid,

I will trust in thee.

4 In God

I will praise his word,

in God

I have put my trust;

I will not fear

what flesh can do unto me.”  Psalm 56:3-4

The answer to fear is to either act or readjust what frightens you.  Some say that fear is sin, but I’ll have to disagree; fear is simply an emotion, like our other emotions, given to mankind by our creator.  The issue is who’s in control, the emotion or the person?  Fear can be of great benefit—if I see a snake, my fear causes me to ‘act’ and get away from the danger.  But when I let fear control me, I can do very unreasonable things, and let fear drive me rather than trusting God to lead me!  The Psalmist reminds us that when those baseless fears come (or even those that may be based in fact, but which we have allowed to haunt our heart and mind) we must simply remember to “trust in” my God who holds me in HIS hand.  And HE has promised not to let go!

“My sheep hear my voice,

and I know them,

and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life;

and they shall never perish,

neither shall any man

pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father,

which gave them me,

is greater than all;

and no man is able

to pluck them

out of my Father’s hand.

30 I and my Father are one.”  John 10:27-30

Jesus holds us in HIS hands, and we are safe in His care, so we need not fear, as the Psalmist reminds us, what ‘man’ can do to us!  Our God reigns, and is working all things for our good, even when we may not realize it!  We don’t have to fear but to have faith/trust in our God’s work all around us.

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:

for we know not what we should pray for

as we ought:

but the Spirit itself

maketh intercession for us

with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts

knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,

because he maketh intercession

for the saints

according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things

work together for good

to them that love God,

to them who are the called

according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow,

he also did predestinate

to be conformed

to the image of his Son,

that he might be the firstborn

among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate,

them he also called:

and whom he called,

them he also justified:

and whom he justified,

them he also glorified.

31 What shall we then say to these things?

If God be for us,

who can be against us?”   Romans 8:26-31

Think on these things, and dwell in the presence of The One who gave Himself for you/me!  That’s why the author of Hebrews tells us clearly that we need not fear what “man” can do to us!

“Let your conversation

be without covetousness;

and be content

with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.”   Hebrews 13:5-6

May God’s blessing rest on you today, and may you find comfort and joy in His presence, His Word, and His sovereign rule!  You can trust Him in all things—without fear!

Amen and Amen!!!

#5 Of The 5 “D”s Of Readiness??? Bible Ballistics: BBS #634

Dependable God, Dependence, Hebrews 13:5-6, Proverbs 3:5-6, Pursuing The Faithful God, Romans 8:28-29, Trust God

Bible Ballistics: BBs #634  #5 Of The 5 “D”s Of Readiness???

An Edited Repost of Bible Ballistics: BBs #15

As we discuss this last of our 5 D’s, Dependence, what can we learn when we have such a mindset of “independence” around us.  Am I ‘independent’ of or ‘dependent’ on God?

Dependence– “The state of relying on or being controlled by someone or something else”.

A synonym of dependent is trust, to rely on, to have faith in.  Do I really trust God?  On whom or what do I depend?  Self? Money? Power? Others or popular opinion? What does scripture say to us?

“Trust in the Lord

with all thine heart;

and lean not

unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways

acknowledge him,

and he shall direct thy paths.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

We are called to trust/depend on God with ALL our heart and NOT to lean on our own understanding.  When we depend on God, He promises to direct our paths.

The question is, ‘do I want God directing my steps?’

Scripture continually reminds us that our God is “trustworthy”!!

“And we know that all things

work together for good

to them

that love God,

to them

who are the called

according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow,

he also did predestinate

to be conformed

to the image of his Son,”  Romans 8:28-29a

When we belong to Jesus, we can know that GOD is working all things in my life to conform me into the image of Jesus.  What more could we desire? Am I striving for Debt-free, Diligence, Discernment, Decency, and Dependence?   How about you?

Will you join me in striving to depend on God and pursue Him: continually, consistently, seeking to be Dependent, Decent, Discerning, Diligent, and working to be Debt-free.  So?  Keep looking up. Depend on God each moment!  He never fails, for He promised, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”!  (See Hebrews 13:5).

Amen and Amen!!!

With These Two Hands: Bible Ballistics: BBs #569

Endurance, Genesis 6:3, Isaiah 40:31, James 1:2-5, Only GOD, Patience, Song of Solomon 5:2-6, Trust God, Wait on the Lord

Bible Ballistics: BBs #569   With These Two Hands???

“But they that wait upon the LORD

shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up

with wings as eagles;

they shall run,

and not be weary;

and they shall walk,

and not faint.”   Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah’s prophecy was of God’s coming judgment for the sin of Israel.  I can’t help but think how much this comforting, yet convicting message is to me. We are called to “wait upon the LORD”, yet so many of our problems come because we aren’t willing to “wait upon the LORD”!  I know in my own life, I have often become impatient and fidgety for my own way, in my own time, and I have left God at the gate (so to speak).  Rather than waiting for God’s way, plan, timing and provision. Almost like what Solomon describes in his wonderful painting of love in The Song Of Solomon—a picture of Christ Jesus’ love for us!  Kind of like the old saying, “I hear you knocking, but you can’t come in!”

“I sleep, but my heart waketh:

it is the voice of my beloved

that knocketh, saying,

Open to me, my sister,

my love, my dove,

my undefiled:

for my head is filled with dew,

and my locks with the drops

of the night.

3 I have put off my coat;

how shall I put it on?

I have washed my feet;

how shall I defile them?

 4 My beloved put in his hand

by the hole of the door,

and my bowels were moved for him.

5 I rose up to open to my beloved;

and my hands dropped with myrrh,

and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh,

upon the handles of the lock.

6 I opened to my beloved;

but my beloved had withdrawn himself,

and was gone:

my soul failed when he spake:

I sought him,

but I could not find him;

I called him,

but he gave me no answer.”    Song Of Solomon 5:2-6

God will not always wait for us to hear and obey—how often do we let the opportunity pass to have intimate fellowship and relationship with our Lord?  As God said in Noah’s day:

“And the LORD said,

My spirit shall not always strive with man,”   Genesis 6:3a

Whether we are talking about the lost heeding the call of The Holy Spirit, or the saved yielding to His voice to our heart, it is a tragic thing in our lives to walk our own way rather than “wait upon the LORD”!  Oh, how often I have made wrong choices and decisions ‘with these two hands’—doing my own thing because I wasn’t willing to “wait upon the LORD” to speak, to reveal HIS will, to direct my steps, to show me the way, to adjust my thinking!  How about you? Ever ‘been there, done that’?  I think we all have, but may we ponder the things of God and fill our hearts with His Word, so we can grow in His power.  James said it best, so I’d like to close with a reminder of the need to endure trials, times of waiting, and/or times of confusion and anxiety.  God never fails, and if we will but “lean not to your own understanding” and “wait upon the LORD”, we will find Him faithful, and can live with that “peace of God, which passeth all understanding” and not regrets!  Oh, to keep my hands off—and HIS hands on.  For even when we can’t see HIS hand, we can trust HIS heart, His character, His purposes, and HIS timing!  Oh, me!

“My brethren,

count it all joy

when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this,

that the trying of your faith

worketh patience.

4 But let patience

have her perfect work,

that ye may be perfect

and entire,

wanting nothing.

5 If any of you lack wisdom,

let him ask of God,

that giveth to all men liberally,

and upbraideth not;

and it shall be given him.”  James 1:2-5

Blessings on your day, and may you come to “know” this.

Amen and Amen!
