Bible Ballistics: “BBs”  #9

I found a most profound thing happening on my cell phone lately.  When I try to type “praying”, if I’m not careful it comes out “spay ing”.   Well at first it just annoyed me and then as I kept making the same error (because my fingers are bigger than the keys….haha) it dawned on me that this is a great play on words for our consideration.

Spaying means to “sterilize a female animal”, in other words, to make it infertile or unproductive.  Wow!!!  Praying on the other hand refers to our communication with God, which is always productive. Am I being productive or unproductive, praying or spaying?

Let’s see if we can make a Biblical case?

    • Mark 4:19, “And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.” –- Unproductive
    • James 5:15-16,  And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”-Productive
    • James 1:26,  “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.” Unproductive
    • Acts 12:5,  Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.Productive  (see verse 11+ for the God’s answer to this prayer…Wow!!!)

So?  Here’s our shot for the day—?????

  • Let’s be prayerfully productive!!
    • Praying not “spaying”!!
          • Never barren
            • but always fertile- faithful & diligent to
              • ask, seek, and knock!!!
  • YOU can do it—through HIM.
    • Phil 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

So?  ??????   Pray on and keep looking up!!!
