A Christmas Fortnight:Day 3 A Word From THE WORD! #415

As we continue with our Christmas Fortnight, I was thinking of a line from a McKamey’s Christmas song. Referring to the message the shepherds received from the angel, it says, “they always knew men went to heaven, but now God had come to earth”.  (A song recorded by The McKameys by Roger Fortner—only information available.)

What an awesome thought!!!! God come to earth. He did once—and He is coming again.

Philippians 2:6-8 says this of Jesus,

“6 Who, being in the form of God,

thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation,

and took upon him the form of a servant,

and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man,

he humbled himself,

and became obedient unto death,

even the death of the cross.”

Think about it:

Placed in a manger-

destined for a cross.

Willingly,

lovingly,

obediently—

for You and Me.

Do you see that?

Jesus laid aside

His privilege,

His heavenly home,

He took on flesh,

He came as a servant,

He left His Father’s physical presence,

and humbled Himself unto DEATH,

even the death of the cross.

Why? He did it for us—You and Me. As a lovely Christmas song says, “What a strange way to save the world” (Written by Dave Clark.)  Oh, how I thank God for His plan. Not the way we would have chosen, but it is the way God chose. It was God’s way! We still must come God’s way!

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 1:18, 21,

“For the preaching of the cross

is to them that perish foolishness;

but unto us which are saved

it is the power of God….

21 For after that in the wisdom of God

the world by wisdom knew not God,

it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching

to save them that believe.”

The preaching of the cross—

from a manger bed

to a cruel, Roman cross for ME and YOU.

The world scoffs at Jesus but embraces Santa Claus.

They want the gifts without the sacrifice.

What are you embracing? The real gift of ETERNAL LIFE; God’s precious babe-His son, to deliver you and me?

Let’s choose to Celebrate Jesus!!

“For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son, t

hat whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world

to condemn the world;

but that the world through him

might be saved.”  John 3:16-17

His Presence Or The Presents??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #412

 

As we think about this season of giving—God has given us the greatest gift –Jesus the Redeemer of all who will come to Him!  We so often think of the ‘presents’ rather than the ‘presence’ of The One who came to be lifted up so that we could have eternal life by grace through faith.

“Even when we were dead in sins,

hath quickened us together with Christ,

(by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together,

and made us sit together

in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7 That in the ages to come

he might shew the exceeding riches

of his grace

in his kindness toward us

through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith;

and that not of yourselves:

it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works,

lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship,

created in Christ Jesus

unto good works,

which God hath before ordained

that we should walk in them.”  Ephesians 2:5-10

God has given us an amazing gift in Jesus, not only in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for our sin, but the promise of His continual presence (an amazing present) in our lives via the Holy Spirit.  The author of Hebrews gives us an amazing insight and confidence in our Lord’s faithfulness to His own.

“Let your conversation

be without covetousness;

and be content

with such things as ye have:

for he hath said,

I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me.” Hebrews 13:5-6

Jesus will be with you and me, what an amazing and comforting promise; “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”!  Let’s see what else Jesus told us!

“And I will pray the Father,

and he shall give you another Comforter,

that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth;

whom the world cannot receive,

because it seeth him not,

neither knoweth him:

but ye know him;

for he dwelleth with you,

and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless:

    I will come to you.”  John 14:16-18

“These things have I spoken unto you,

being yet present with you.

26 But the Comforter,

which is the Holy Ghost,

whom the Father will send in my name,

he shall teach you all things,

and bring all things to your remembrance,

whatsoever I have said unto you.

27 Peace I leave with you,

my peace I give unto you:

not as the world giveth,

give I unto you.

Let not your heart be troubled,

neither let it be afraid.”  John 14:25-27

“But when the Comforter is come,

whom I will send unto you from the Father,

even the Spirit of truth,

which proceedeth from the Father,

he shall testify of me:” John 15:26

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth;

It is expedient for you that I go away:

for if I go not away,

the Comforter will not come unto you;

but if I depart,

I will send him unto you.

8 And when he is come,

he will reprove the world of sin,

and of righteousness,

and of judgment…

… 33 These things I have spoken unto you,

that in me ye might have peace.

In the world ye shall have tribulation:

but be of good cheer;

I have overcome the world.”   Portions of John 16:7-8 & 33

So as you shop, and wrap gifts, and share time with your loved ones and friends, remember that Jesus loves you, He cares for you and has promised to be with you when you come to Him!  It’s what Christmas is really all about!  The baby in the manger came to go to Calvary for Keep your eyes on the prize—Jesus—and the gifts that He provides to His own!

“he hath said,

 I will never leave thee,

nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say,

The Lord is my helper,

and I will not fear

what man shall do unto me…”

My prayers are for you to draw near to The One, who loves you and gave Himself for you and me to have life— “abundant life”!!!  Remember His presence is ever near you!!!  If you hear His voice—don’t run, but bow! Always!!!

The Quiet In The Noise??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #408

Just a few things today about beating the nosiness around us.  There is so much on every hand harping, crying out, shouting the good—the bad—and especially the ugly!  But we have an option, and I encourage you to call on Him today, His name is Jesus. And as we prepare to celebrate His birth, may we draw nearer to Him, as He takes hold on our hand and we can cling to Him with all our heart.  I simply want to share a few passages to encourage your heart today.  Blessings of peace and quiet on you and yours—

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace,

whose mind is stayed on thee:

because he trusteth in thee.

4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever:

for in the LORD JEHOVAH

is everlasting strength:” Isaiah 26: 3-4

And in Jesus own words to us!

“Let not your heart be troubled:

ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions:

if it were not so, I would have told you.

I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you,

I will come again,

and receive you unto myself;

that where I am,

there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him,

Lord, we know not whither thou goest;

and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him,

I am

the way,

the truth, and

the life:

no man cometh unto the Father,

but by me.”  John 14:1-6

Amidst all the clutter and clamor going on around us, in our homes, on the job, on the street, on social media of every sort—seemingly everywhere—we have a God, a Savior and Lord who can and will give us peace in the midst of any storm, any clatter, any fear, any trial or difficulty that seems to overwhelm us, Jesus is near at hand if we will but reach out in faith and obedience!  Won’t you reach out and take His hand and let Him lead you into that “perfect peace”?  He is faithful—He is the way to the Father—the way to heaven and eternal life!

Oh, what joy, peace and “quiet” we often miss simply because we fail to realize and trust to the care of our Lord and Savior, Jesus!  A passage that is very special to us, may you find the stillness of Jesus who has you in His hand if you have been born again (and if you haven’t been, you can be by calling on Jesus in repentance of your sin and faith in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for your sin and mine! See John 3)!

“Be still, and know that I am God:

I will be exalted among the heathen,

I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The LORD of hosts is with us;

the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Selah.”  Psalm 46:10-11

 We can keep on going in His “perfect peace”!  Don’t let the clamor stop your peace.  Jesus arose victorious, and we can live in the victory!

“But thanks be to God,

which giveth us the victory

through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren,

be ye stedfast,

unmoveable,

always abounding in the work of the Lord,

forasmuch as ye know

that your labour is not in vain

in the Lord.”  1 Corinthians 15:57-58

Rejoice–The Lord Blesses??? A Word from THE WORD!!! #405

Just a brief word this morning to encourage our hearts.  While the world goes crazy around us, remember that our God still reigns, and when we are born again by the blood of The Lamb, we will reign with Him!  We win!  Yet we don’t have to wait until eternity, we can praise and rejoice in His blessings every day—today—and today—and today—and all of our todays here on this earth!

“Bless the LORD,

O my soul:

and all that is within me,

bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD,

O my soul,

and forget not all his benefits:

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;

who healeth all thy diseases;

4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction;

who crowneth thee with

lovingkindness and tender mercies;

5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things;

so that thy youth is renewed

like the eagle’s…

… 10 He hath not dealt with us

after our sins;

nor rewarded us

according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth,

so great is his mercy

toward them that fear him.

12 As far as the east is from the west,

so far hath he removed our transgressions

from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children,

so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

14 For he knoweth our frame;

he remembereth that we are dust.”  Portions of Psalm 103:1-14

May we spend time today rehearsing the goodness of our God!  We are so blessed, and I encourage you to list the blessings of God to you even today!  The list is endless, but we so often let the trials of this life distract us from the goodness of our God!  First and foremost for all who will come to Him is Jesus Christ our Lord!  I am so grateful that He saved me from my sin and made me a new creation in Himself!  I praise Him for the joys of loving and serving Him.  I invite you to come to Him in repentance of your sin and trust in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice for your sin and mine at Calvary!  But praise God from whom all blessings flow, Jesus didn’t stay in that tomb, but it is empty!  If you hear the tug of Jesus at your heart’s door, I pray that you’ll bow before Him and call on Him and He will answer.  I’m praying for you!

“Behold,

I stand at the door,

and knock:

if any man hear my voice,

and open the door,

I will come in to him,

and will sup with him,

and he with me.”  Revelation 3:20

Walking With My Friend???   A Word from THE WORD!!! #397

Someone once said to me, “You talk about Jesus like He’s your best friend”, to which I replied, “He is!”  I just want to let you know this morning, that Jesus is there for you also!  You can come to Him in faith and repentance of your sin and receive the gift of eternal life that He bought and paid for at Calvary’s cross!  He loves you that much!  While I am open to being a friend, only Jesus can save you from sin and give you new life—eternal life– with Him!  I just want to share a few passages of scripture that you may know that His love and provision are for you as He does for me!

“Come unto me,

all ye that labour and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you,

and learn of me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy,

and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

While Jesus is my Lord and master, He is also my friend, even as He told His disciples just before His crucifixion and death—but praise God, He didn’t stay dead, He rose on the third day to buy salvation for you and me—for all who will come to Him in repentance of sin and faith in His substitutionary, atoning sacrifice!  Oh, what a wonderful friend He has been, is even now and will be for all time; what a blessing to know Him, and you can know Him too.

“Greater love hath no man than this,

that a man lay down his life for his friends.

14 Ye are my friends,

if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants;

for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth:

but I have called you friends;

for all things that I have heard of my Father

I have made known unto you.”  John 15:13-15

Jesus is there for you, and he will be with you in all your ways if you will but trust Him.  I pray that you will hear His voice calling you and run to the shepherd who loves you, will guide you and ever be the greatest friend you will ever know!

“Then said Jesus unto them again,

Verily, verily, I say unto you,

I am the door of the sheep.

8 All that ever came before me

are thieves and robbers:

but the sheep did not hear them.

9 I am the door:

by me if any man enter in,

he shall be saved,

and shall go in and out,

and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not,

but for to steal,

and to kill,

and to destroy:

I am come that they might have life,

and that they might have it more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd:

the good shepherd giveth his life

for the sheep.”  John 10:7-11

And in closing, if you need peace, true peace is only found in the Lord of all creation, who gave Himself for you and me on that cross of Calvary.  He gives peace beyond measure, and He will walk with you continually, not just once in a while!

“Peace I leave with you,

my peace I give unto you:

give I unto you.

Let not your heart be troubled,

neither let it be afraid.

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you,

I go away,

and come again unto you.

If ye loved me,

ye would rejoice,

because I said,

I go unto the Father:

for my Father is greater than I.

29 And now I have told you

before it come to pass,

that, when it is come to pass,

ye might believe.”  John 14:27-29

His confident reassurance is found in His promise to save and keep His own; for HE is the only way to heaven, life and peace!
